Casual lobotomy is one of my less typical weekend pursuits, but I'm willing to hazard that were
one to pluck out the respective brains of BAE and Scott Parker, the two would be as dissimilar as
medically possible. At one point in the second half yesterday I'm fairly sure Benny executed a
scorpion kick, seemingly just to pass the time.

Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 Newcastle United Premier League 11th February 2012
Harry Redknapp's charges gave their boss the perfect homecoming present, as they presented their
exhonerated manager with a superb 5-0 win against Newcastle.

A recent post by Jamie Trecker poses the question will the USA ever win the World Cup? And when
will the USA ever produce its own Pele, if ever?
Trecker goes on to say that the USA has always produced top quality goalkeepers, the country's
most visible export to overseas leagues in this sport.

Landon Donovan's time with Everton is nearing its end and while he may want to make an impact in
all of his remaning games with the club, this weekend's match might be at the top of his list.
Everton are set to face Chelsea in a match that will pit Donovan against the likes of John
Terry, Juan Mata and Florent Malouda.
Brad Friedel and Tottenham Hotspur were held to a draw by Liverpool at Anfield, while Birmingham
City jumped up the standings with a win over Portsmouth,
Luis Suarez made his return from his eight-match suspension but their was no fairy tale ending
as Liverpool and Spurs played to a goalless draw at Anfield.
While Kenny Dalglish's side remain unbeaten at home this season, they have nevertheless
struggled for goals at Anfield, scoring just 14 in 11 matches, and again, despite a lot of
possession they were unable to unpick a superbly-disciplined Spurs defence.
Luis Suarez made his return from his eight-match suspension but their was no fairy tale ending
as Liverpool and Spurs played to a goalless draw at Anfield.
Suarez started the game on the bench and he watched his teammates come flying out of the blocks
with Gerrard slipping a delightful through ball to Andy Carroll only for Michael Dawson to make a
goal-saving fifth-minute challenge.
After another frustrating draw at Anfield, this time against Spurs, Liverpool had to settle for a
scoreless draw with the Londoners.
Despite taking the game to 3rd placed Tottenham, Liverpool failed to break down a stubborn defence
in which Dawson, King and Parker at times excelled at repelling everything Liverpool threw at them.
The weather has not been a friend to football supporters of late. The cold snap did for a
majority of matches scheduled below the Premier League, and this evening, an hour before kick-off
at Anfield, there is a possibility that it might strike again, with a thick fog over Liverpool. The
fog clears in time for kick-off, though a lack of clarity will turn out to be a common feature of
the evening.
Tottenham and LIverpool both have Champions League aspirations, and both can boost their place
near the top of the English Premier League standings when they face off at Anfield today (2:55pm,
ESPN2).
Today features the return of Luis Suarez from his suspension for making racist remarks at
Manchester United's Patrice Evra, and Suarez will be key to trying to help the Reds climb up from
their current seventh-place position in the standings.
For much of this season, Spurs number one Brad Friedel has quietly gone about his business and
at times, solid performances across the back four have provided him with little to do. When called
upon, the American is an uncomplicated keeper who has brought calm between the posts where once
there was chaos.
Clint Dempsey and Fulham travel to play Manchester City, while Brad Friedel and Tottenham Hotspur
hope to keep pace in the top half of the standings with a win over Liverpool.
The U.S. Men's National Team last faced Canada in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup, but it's been more
than 13 years since the teams met on Canadian soil. With the U.S. and Canada set to face each other
in Toronto at 7 p.m. ET on June 3, we took a look at the history between the sides and found some
interesting facts.

Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey have shared plenty of moments throughout their careers as the
top two attacking threats of the U.S. men's national team, but they will not be celebrating
together on Friday.
The two American stars are set to face off for the first time since 2006 when Everton and Fulham
do battle in the fourth round of the FA Cup (3pm, Fox Soccer Channel).
Clint Dempsey scored a historic hat trick in a big win for Fulham over Newcastle United, while Brad
Friedel and Tottenham agonizingly went down to Manchester City in a Premier League clash.
Manchester City went six points clear at the Barclays Premier League summit after a late penalty
conversion from Mario Balotelli ensured a thrilling 3-2 win over a resilient Tottenham Hotspur at
the Etihad Stadium.
After a slow first half, the hosts came alive at the beginning of the second, with goals from
Samir Nasri and Joleon Lescott creating a comfortable two-goal cushion.
Tim Howard, Landon Donovan, and Everton take on Blackburn Rovers, while Brad Friedel and Tottenham
look to boost their title hopes with a win over Premier League leaders Manchester City.

The German Bundesliga kicks back into full gear this weekend, and with it could come a direct
head-to-head duel between a pair of U.S. men's national team players.

resume their Bundesliga campaigns on Saturday.

Sacha Kljestan and RSC Anderlecht returned to league action this weekend for the first time
since December, and they both picked up right where they left off.

If Brad Guzan retains his spot in Aston Villa's starting lineup this weekend, we are in for a
treat.
Guzan and the Villans host Landon Donovan, Tim Howard and Everton on Saturday in arguably the
biggest match-up involving Americans this weekend.
Brad Friedel and Tottenham Hotspur welcome Wolverhampton to White Hart Lane, while Brad Guzan and
Aston Villa take on the American duo at Everton of Landon Donovan and Tim Howard.
Brad Friedel and Tottenham Hotspurs were victorious over Landon Donovan, Time Howard and Everton on
Wednesday, while Jonathan Spector and Brimingham City defeated Ipswich Town.
At White Hart Lane last night, Tottenham Hotspur beat Everton by two goals to nil. There was
nothing particularly unusual about this result apart from the fact that Spurs have occasionally
struggled to break Everton down in recent years but this was a result that may just prove to be one
of the most important of manager Harry Redknapp's season.
Brad Friedel and Spurs got the better of Tim Howard and Landon Donovan's Everton in the latest
battle of the Americans at Premier League level. Aaron Lennon fired in a shot from distance to open
the scoring in the 35th minute, and Benoit Assou-Ekotto made it 2-0 with a strong shot in the 63rd.
Friedel had an easy night, with Everton not putting a shot on goal.
Landon Donovan and Brad Friedel's highly-anticipated match-up is finally here.
The two Americans are both in their respective team's starting lineups, as is Tim Howard, for
Tottenham's home game against Everton (2:45 p.m., Fox Soccer Channel). Donovan will look to help
the Toffees upset the Spurs in his third game back while also attempting to silence one his most
recent critics in Friedel in the process.

Tweet from SBI: "I'm told Philadelphia Union midfielder Michael Farfan will be heading to
England for a training stint with Premier League side Sunderland." As of this writing, we are
waiting for confirmation from the Union about this report.
Brad Friedel and Tottenham Hotspur host Tim Howard, Landond Donovan, and Everton in a Premier
League clash at White Hart Lane, while Jonathan Spector and Birmingham City face Ipswich Town.
Spurs - Everton 2:30pm - Fox Soccer Another opportunity to see Landon Donovan during his loan stint
in England, this time against a top-tier team. Spurs are 3rd to Everton's 11th, with the two clubs
separated by 18 points and a +18 goal difference. A point or three at White Hart Lane would be a
huge accomplishment.

So the Premier League season is finally here, it's Tottenham Hotspur's opening game versus
Everton..........
That's how the preview for this one should have started, but the unfortunate and unseemly
rioting of early August put paid to Spurs opening fixture. Now this is the game in hand it's vital
that Spurs get maximum points if they want to be taken seriously as title challengers.

A trio of Americans saw the field for one team this weekend, but it is not the trio you might
first think of.
Mexican-Americans Edgar Castillo, Joe Corona and Greg Garza received minutes for Club Tijuana in
its Clausura opener, a 1-1 draw with Morelia.
Everton keeper Tim Howard became only the fourth keeper in Premier League
history to score a goal when he scored last night against Bolton in their 2-1 defeat at Goodison
Park. The Other three are:
Peter Schmeichel for Aston Villa v Everton in 2001 at Goodison Park.
Tim Howard became only the 2nd American goalkeeper ever to score in the Premier League, Brad
Friedel being the other. Howard scored on a very long fly-kick Wednesday in the Toffees game
against Bolton putting Everton up 1-0. With very gusty conditions, the ball took an odd 25-yard
bounce over the head of Bolton keeper Adam [.

MLS is scheduled to release the 2012 schedule today at 2pm. We'll post the Union schedule as
soon as it is available.
Who will the Union play in their home opener? After using some logic based on what schedule
details are already known (the Union open the season at Portland on March 12, play in Chicago on
March 24, play in Toronto on May 26 and September 15 while playing host to Toronto on July 7), The
Goalkeeper writes, "I would not be surprised if it is against the New York Red Bulls, the Houston
Dynamo or David Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy.

An effervescent Swansea side stroking the ball with ease pinned the Hydra headed Spurs attack
for lengthy spells. Against the run of play Spurs went up just before the half with Rafael Van Der
