RIVER OR LIFE: The forwards

DCUMD 02 November @ 11:25 PM EST
The first round of River or Life with the DC United front office has gone pretty much as expected so far, with Tom Soehn just 0% Life, Dave Kasper over 50% but not convincingly, and Kevin Payne somewhere between 50 and 100. Now let's see where the forwards on the roster stand.
The thing about playing River or Life is that its somewhat up to the voter's discretion how you want to interpret the two choices, and I think that's going to come into play for a lot of us with some of these forwards. Click to continue reading...

DC United tie at Toluca, 1-1

DCUMD 20 October @ 09:26 PM EST
Finishing 1-1 against the leader of the Mexican Primera Division on the road is a better result than most of us expected, and probably a better result than we deserved. Still, thanks to some inspired play by a few individuals, and some poor shooting by Toluca, we emerged with a single point.
A win would have secured our spot in the Champions' League quarterfinals, but let's not count ourselves out yet. Click to continue reading...

STEVE CRONIN!

The DCenters 18 October @ 10:08 AM EST
D.C. United 1: 0 Columbus Crew
Six Word Novel Recap A decent team, with terrible supporters.
Let me just start by saying that Steve Cronin impressed the hell out of me last night. He played confidently, and he did not hesitate to come off of his line or even out of the box. At one point last night, he ran almost to the corner flag to shield a Crew player off the ball until it ran out for a goal kick. Click to continue reading...

DC United lose to Chivas USA, 2-0

DCUMD 04 October @ 10:45 AM EST
This was clearly a match between two teams going in different directions. Chivas was starting guys like Maicon Santos, Jesus Padilla, and Yamith Cuesta - all who joined the team in August and have already claimed starting jobs. They haven't been afraid to bench their veterans like Razov, Galindo, and Marsch and have instead sought out better players. Click to continue reading...

United do it again

That Soccer Guy 01 October @ 11:11 AM EST

DC United comes off its 2-1 loss to San Jose to win 5-1 against San Juan Jabloteh. And what do you know...the youth played a huge factor in this with the help of Christian Gomez and Fred. Scoring for UNited was Gomez (13′,68′), Fred (30′), Khumalo (43′, 92+'). They key in this match was how well the youth wokred together for this win.

DC United win vs San Juan Jabloteh, 5-1

DCUMD 01 October @ 06:09 AM EST
Last week I made a big mistake in reading too much into the results of a win against a weak opponent. Learning my lesson, let's just say that this match was a pleasure to watch. This is the second time this season United has scored five goals, and it looked like the boys were having fun out there.
Does that mean though that they will carry this momentum into the match Saturday against Chivas? Click to continue reading...

Another roster reset

DCUMD 12 September @ 09:23 AM EST
Never before that I can think of has DC United made so many roster moves so late in the season. It's obvious that the team is trying to make a strong push for the playoffs, and trying to put together the best roster possible before the acquisition window closes for the season.
Since we last spoke, the team has made a couple new moves, including the signing of Lawson Vaughn. Click to continue reading...

DC United Roster Update

That Soccer Guy 14 August @ 12:52 PM EST

DC United announced a few roster moves today. As reported before, Julius James is coming after a trade with Houston for a 3rd Round Draft Pick in 2012.

DC announced that they have signed defender David Habarugira. Habarugira has played for the Burundi national team and in the Anderlecht (Belgium) youth system.

A ton of photos from last night's Open Cup win. After the jump a not-for-the-weak-stomached photo of Boyzzz's broken wrist (you've been warned).

DC United win vs Colorado Rapids, 3-1

DCUMD 19 July @ 08:40 PM EST
After a first half consisting of two major mistakes (Namoff's own goal and Khumalo's terrible chip shot miss), United was a bit unfortunate to be down a goal. The teams looked very evenly matched. But from the moment that the whistle blew to open up the second half, one team was clearly better than the other. Click to continue reading...

Post Game: DCU 3 Colorado 1

The Offside - DC United 18 July @ 10:16 PM EST

Well, the whole two half things has never been more apt. I don't know what Tommy said to the team in the locker room, but it worked something special.

The first half was honestly the worst 45 minutes of soccer I've ever seen. I'm counting Screaming Eagles pickup games in that assertion.

DC United tie at Columbus Crew, 1-1

DCUMD 04 July @ 09:42 PM EST
A 1-1 tie would have been a pretty good prediction going in, and isn't a bad result for us. But it feels good to say that this team deserved better. DC United dominated in scoring opportunities, with 11 shots on goal to Columbus's 3. But they were a bit more effective at converting their few opportunities, as we let the Crew off the hook far too often with failed chances and weak shots straight at the keeper. DC United win vs. Ocean City Barons, 2-0

DCUMD 01 July @ 05:57 AM EST
DC United should be neither elated nor concerned after the team needed 75 minutes to beat a PDL squad consisting mostly of college players and a few amateurs. It wasn't pretty, but DC is one step closer to defending their US Open Cup title, which is more than you can say about the 4 MLS clubs who lost to USL clubs last night. Click to continue reading...

DC United win vs Chicago Fire, 2-1

DCUMD 13 June @ 11:03 PM EST
This was my first journey to RFK this season, and boy did I pick a good one. It sure did feel right for this to be a battle for first place, because United and the Fire did look like two of the best teams in MLS tonight. Great atmosphere in the stadium.
Just a shame for a really well-played competitive match between two good teams to be influenced so heavily by the officials. Click to continue reading...
