The arrival of two new foreign teams in the SLeague hasn't gone down too well in Singapore with
some fans calling for a boycott of games in the upcoming season. A bit drastic that when no bugger
goes anyway.
Etoille and Beijing Guoan have of course replaced DPMM and Super Reds. But why do we have to have
two foreign clubs replace two domestic clubs?
After their most miserable World Cup in recent memory, French fans are just wondering what went
wrong. The French players made history by walking out of training, and coupled with the dramatic
exit of Nicolas Anelka, Raymond Domenech's tenure as French boss ended in despair.
Now, defender William Gallas has lifted the lid albeit slightly on what went wrong inside the
French camp.
Hatin' on Henry
"BOYCOTT LE CHEAT!" goes up the cry from Sean O'Shea of Irish Central. Henry wronged Ireland in
Paris those many months ago, and so the reasonable response is to actively avoid the Red Bulls and
their new signing.
Because that'll teach them to sign a world class player who raises their profile off the field and
helps them on it.
I was emailed a link to the MLS Rumors website a little bit ago, and an article about the Wizards
rebranding to Sporting KC. The article claimed to have "hard evidence" of the rebranding. Curious
to see what they came up with I took a look at the article, though I don't regularly visit that
site for one reason or another.
One of the intriguing questions in the Anelka-expulsion affair is, "Who leaked Anelka's bust-up
with Doms to the press?"
France's fitness coach, Robert Duverne, is apparently not the mole. He's just a member of the
staff who has trouble accepting that the team wouldn't train ahead of a World Cup match, which put
him at odds with France captain Patrice Evra who was leading the boycott.
And the hits just keep on coming! In what has become a complete disgrace for the French at World
Cup 2010 in South Africa things might get even worse. They may boycott their final group match
against South Africa.
France coach Raymond Domenech has said some of his players may refuse to face South Africa
because of Nicolas Anelka's expulsion from the squad.
Let's be honest, no matter how much certain journalists keep writing about him, Michael Owen is not
going to make the England World Cup squad. This is because he's lost his pace, his eye for goal and
is, frankly, rubbish these days. It's not, as professional Yorkshireman and ex-cricketer Geoff
Boycott would like you to believe, because Owen hasn't spent enough time feng shui-ing his living
The boycott, as things turned out, only ended up being unofficial for a couple of days. After
just 425 people turned out on Tuesday night for their Blue Square Premier match against Salisbury
City, the results of a survey carried out by the supporters group showed 72% of those polled to be
in favour of a boycott of the club's home matches, while 23% "considered it an option".
Back at home, Chester City stumble from crisis to crisis. They have a home derby match against
Wrexham in a couple of weeks, and tickets have now gone on sale. However, the capacity of The Deva
Stadium has already been reduced by safety issues (an impressive dereliction of duty, considering
that the ground is less than twenty years old) and the majority of Chester supporters seem likely
to be boycotting this match, so how many tickets will be sold for the match remains open to
question.
"Harris Needs To Get Real Over Boycott" was originally published at
The Republik of Mancunia.
... which, of course, is blindingly obvious. But more significant is their flagrant disregard
for a certain word called reality.
By now this is old news, but to refresh those of you not aware, there are reports that say the
Glazers are likely to further increase ticket prices.
This in itself is no big deal; they have increased prices every year since their takeover.
What a fantastic few weeks it's been for everyone connected with Manchester United; off the pitch
the anti Glazer bandwagon is rolling along nicely, MUST's membership is growing by the day, it
currently stands at nearly 138,000 - how long will it be before we have 250,000 members? The Red
Knights' have promised supporters they can join the season ticket boycott and at some point in the
future
Liverpool fans are considering a boycott of season tickets in the summer in protest at the club's
owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
Thousands of supporters hope hitting the owners in the pocket will persuade them to reduce their
sale price and leave after putting the club £237 million in debt.
A very sincere thank you from Jerry and myself to everyone who read and commented on
the post that appeared here on Sunday morning about the atrocious piece of so called 'journalism'
that appeared in the Mail On Sunday at the weekend; I've spent most of the day at
work getting angrier and angrier about this and trying to work out what to do next, so I'd like to
thank the person who added the comment from http://toque.
A couple of weeks ago I gave readers of RoM the opportunity to pose questions for an Aon
representative. Whilst wanting to get in to the nitty gritty, I was also mindful that any sponsor
will be wary of what they can say about our owners. The fans want the Glazers out of the club and
have made the club sponsors a target for boycott, putting pressure on them to pull out of deals
with Manchester United, to encourage the Glazers to go, or face the negative reactions from reds
towards them.
Liverpool fans are holding Tom Hicks and George Gillett responsible for forcing Rafael Benitez to
leave the club, Goal.com UK can reveal.
Supporters' union Spirit of Shankly (SoS) said the American owners had made Benitez's position
"untenable" and urged them to sell the club immediately.
It emerged on Wednesday night that the Spaniard is in pay-off negotiations with the club after
agreeing to end his six-year reign at Anfield.
Whether you thought it was right or wrong, there is one undeniable benefit in the removal of Rafael
Benitez which is that there is no longer a smokescreen behind which the club's owners can hide.
Over the coming months their failure to properly invest in the club is going to become increasingly
clear whilst, at the same time, their inflated asking price seems to be driving away anyone who
wants to take over.
After watching the opening game between South Africa and Mexico is cannot see this World Cup as a
football fest. I hate the sound that the "fans" are making with their horns, a.k.a. Vuvuzelas. I
have a decent lcd-tv with a nice surround system, but it gets that bad that I have to watch the
game on mute because of the bad sound.

World Cup News
Yahoo News - The French are prone to failing. Players boycott training, typical.
ESPN - US v Slovenia ref will not officiate another WC match this year.
MLB.com - Vuvuzelas given away to fans at baseball game, buzzing ensues.
Time - North Korea's amazing invisible phone.
Since the team hasn't been inspiring lately hopefully these France fans can help you
get energized for France's last stand today!
Even though Les Bleus are literally in the middle of a melt down (see the full timeline of
events, which I've continued to update as reports surface), we still have one more game in the
group stage which will determine our fate.
Time for Paul Gardner to step aside:
Quote: There is an intriguing parallel here, one that involves South Africa. Fifty years ago, in
Cape Town -- in what was then strict-apartheid South Africa -- English Prime Minister Harold
Macmillan delivered his famous "wind of change" speech.
Football, we learned last night during the Ghana-Uruguay game, is the most effective tool for
mass torture every devised by the human race. A vast majority of the over eighty thousands fans in
the stadium, and millions of viewers throughout the world, were left speechless and unwound by what
we saw unfold.
Religious leaders in Malaysia have told Muslims that they should not wear a Manchester United
shirt because of the image of the red devil in the logo.
"There is no excuse for wearing such garments because it means, as a Muslim, you are
idolising the symbol of another religion," Datuk Nooh Gadot, the Mufti of Johor, said.
I'm not even sure crawling on your knees will get you out of this one hot-shot...
Well, I hope you didn't think that hiring Blanc and celebrating his first selection yesterday
meant the fall-out of the World Cup was over. In fact, its just heating up in the land of the
FFF.

ALEX Ferguson still refuses to have anything to do with the BBC. This season it was expected
that Man Utd's manager would finally end his self-imposed boycott of the corporation, which he once
accused of "breathtaking arrogance". The stand-off resulted when, in 2004, BBC show 'Panorama'
aired an investigation into Fergie's son Darren, currently the manager of Preston North End, but
working as a football agent at the time.
Manchester United's season tickets sales have fallen for the first time in two decades.
Over 51,000 season tickets were sold for this season a drop of 2,000 for the same time in previous
seasons.
Although ticket sales are more than most clubs it seems United have been a victim of the credit
crunch.
Like all Liverpool fans, I hate The S*n newspaper, and if anyone asked me I would explain why and
urge that person not to read that rag. However, there is a subset of Liverpool FC fans who are like
a brainwashed cult when it comes to The S*n, attempting to browbeat and demonise anyone who (even
inadvertently) has anything to do with The S*n.
RoM have a Mexico shirt to give away thanks to the lovely people at SoccerPro, chosen in
appreciation for our new striker, Chicharito. With us continuing our boycott against the official
United shirt, it looks as though you'll have to make do with International shirts in our give
aways, along with the old shirts.
The winner of the Mexico shirt, which was given to RoM by SoccerPro, is Nicholas Kelsall from
Paris. The shirt was of course chosen in appreciation for our new striker, Chicharito. With us
continuing our boycott against the official United shirt, it looks as though you'll have to make do
with International shirts in our give aways, along with the old shirts.
It's been getting worse and worse every year in the game player's diving, but it maybe a
thing of the past if Italian soccer chiefs have their way and rightly so.
This week Serie A Authorities banned Juventus winger Milos Krasnic for diving to win a penalty
against Bologna, after using Video evidence.
PARIS, France — UEFA president Michel Platini believes the French players responsible for the
World Cup fiasco should have been handed lifetime suspensions. Platini labeled the rebel players
"completely useless" and "absolute idiots" after they boycotted a training session in protest at
Nicolas Anelka's expulsion from the tournament.
Alan Pardew, the man who was sacked by League One side Southampton for being mediocre, has been
named the new manager of Newcastle United. Pardew has agreed to a five and a half year contract,
which is currently one of the largest managerial contracts in European football.
I think a lot of Newcastle fans would have reacted differently to the news if Chris Hughton was
replaced by someone who had experience, someone who had won leagues or cups, and who's teams had
been successful.
Sir Alex Ferguson has had a major influence on Premier League football over the years and has also
had a big say on the careers of youngsters up and down the country. However, he continues to
undermine his admirable actions by refusing to let bygones be bygones by granting the BBC access to
his pearls of wisdom once more.
