Steven Gerrard's equaliser against Reading may have prevented the Championship club from recording
a famous FA Cup victory over Liverpool, but the trip to Liverpool's famous Anfield stadium will be
a boost to the Championship club's coffers.
The Royals had taken the lead through Simon Church, but were pegged back by Gerrard's equaliser.
EVERTON DEFEATS CHELSEA 2-1
Of course there is no other news right? If you know your history, you'll know this was Everton's
first victory over Chelsea since 2000! In addition, if you know your history, you will know this
was David Moyes' first managerial victory over Chelsea (he has faced them as the boss of Preston
North End and Everton).
A rare sighting of Ronaldo and his recently-determined son, Alexander. Image: R7.
(Original) Ronaldo made our overstuffed Boxing Day bellies queasy by describing his alternative
to abstinence/birth control/condoms/the pull-out method:
"I closed the factory."
And by that, he means: he had a vasectomy.

The Blackpool vs Liverpool game on Boxing Day ( December 26, 2010) was cancelled/postponed after a
late pitch inspection at Bloomfield Road. Blackpool vs Liverpool was a supposed 3pm kick off but
Bloomfield Road, which does not have under soil heating, did not pass the muster for the game due
to frozen pitch conditions.
English Premier League lovers around the world are in the midst of the busy holiday period that is
seeing most of the league's teams play three matches in space of ten days from December 26th (or
Boxing Day) to January 1st. The action then continues throughout January as things return to a
tamer pace.
As far as articles on the top clubs in the world this week, there's not that much to report. The
only matches that had any affect on the rankings over the past few weeks came out of France, which
shut down later than most, Spain, which started back earlier than most, and England and Scotland,
which neither shut down nor started back.
Bath City drew against Bishop's Stortford at home in front of 558 people yesterday. That was not
how things were supposed to go.
No. Things were supposed to go very differently. City were supposed to crush Bishop's Stortford as
they did at the away fixture 5-1. This was supposed to happen in front of a bumper crowd made up of
people drawn back after the great football they saw at the last two Saturday home matches (1,404
against Newport County and 3,325 against Forest Green Rovers).
Wolverhampton Wanderers play host to Liverpool in the Premier League this week, with both sides
needing points for very different reasons.
Only goal difference separates Wolves from the relegation zone, as they have failed to pick up a
win in any of their last five games in all competitions.
After Saturday's FA Cup exploits – when Chelsea put in a professional performance to see off
Preston North End – Chelsea are now nearing a return to the nitty-gritty of Premier League
action. Wednesday's visitors are Alex McLeish's rapidly improving Birmingham.
It won't be an easy game – just a month ago Birmingham ground out a nil-nil draw with an
uninspired Chelsea who, despite Lampard and Anelka missing good chances, never really looked like
snatching all three points.

Argentinian international, Carlos Tevez recently revealed an interesting statement to News of
the World that could pretty much become one of the reasons for his bust up with his manager at
Manchester City, Roberto Mancini, last week.
Speaking to the media, the striker stated that lately he is very tired and despite of his
current super start status, the 26-years-old said that he can't really enjoy his current life as a
professional footballer.
The EPL has been known as one of the toughest competition in Europe especially with the
extremely tight schedule that didn't even give a winter break for the clubs and forced them to play
during Christmas and New Year holidays.
Recently there have been many request to change that schedule and give the players the break
they needed, among many asking for a new policy is Manchester United's Wayne Rooney who feels that
the break would provide more benefits for the league and also England national team.
No wonder Newcastle fans were celebrating yesterday at St. James' Park, as Newcastle recorded their
biggest win over their local rivals in 55 years. Chris Hughton - got Magpies' biggest win against
Sunderland since 1955 It was back on Boxing day, 26th December, 1955, when Newcastle recorded their

Much has been made of Arsenal's inability to win the big games, and how it may be the undoing
of their title challenge. So after Monday night's defeat at Old Trafford, and with the boxing day
visit of Chelsea to come, should Arsenal be looking towards the Carling Cup as their only hope of
silverware?
Blackpool have said that their Boxing Day fixture against Liverpool is in jeopardy from the
weather. Blackpool, the only Premier League club that does not have undersoil heating, have already
had two home games postponed this season and with a still frozen pitch, that number is likely to
increase to three.
Weather permitting, Manchester United will welcome Sunderland to Old Trafford for a Boxing Day
clash on Sunday afternoon. And though Sir Alex Ferguson has convincingly had the upper hand on
Steve Bruce during the former United defender's managerial career, Sunday's showdown shapes up to
be a severe test for the league leaders.

Happy Holidays to all. Let's preview the big Boxing Day weekend from a fantasy footie perspective.
But first, one last note on last weekend's snowed out fixtures: As we have said for almost 2 years,

So it's come around to Christmas again already. 2010 has been a great year in the history of
Stevenage FC. The club finally achieved promotion to the football league and have made a solid
start to life in League 2.
Whilst the last 4-6 weeks haven't been great, the signs are good for the future.

When Christmas falls on a Saturday it can often lead to a light weekend of soccer action, but
there is plenty to watch for the soccer fans in need of their fix.
Christmas Day won't give you anything to watch in the way of live matches, but both Fox Soccer
Channel and GolTV are breaking out replays of some of the best matches of the past few months.

- Time to give Chelsea the blues!
It's that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcome of this weekend's Premier
League games. Last week was a bit of a wash out, as only three of the 10 games were played, and I
ended up with one correct outcome and two incorrect.
Not much going on this weekend except for the English Premier League and a few other matches on
television. Okay, only one other live one and that one is from Australia, which barely counts.
Among the EPL matches, though, there are a few good ones and one great one. The great one of course
is (Wayne Gretzky) the match on Monday between Chelsea and Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on
Monday.
With Christmas in the rearview mirror, and a day without live soccer behind us, soccer fans
hungry for some on-field action will get their gifts today as Boxing Day clashes make up today's
light schedule.
Bad weather has already led to cancellations of two matches (Blackpool-Liverpool and
Everton-Birmingham City), but there is still action to watch throughout the day.
In what proved to be a highly entertaining Boxing Day encounter, Manchester City saw off a
resilient Newcastle side after a goal from Gareth Barry and Carlos Tevez inside the opening five
minutes of play. Newcastle will surely feel hard-done by after dominating the remaining eighty-five
minutes of play, far outnumbering their ridiculously-paid counterparts in terms of possession and
shots, but once again Carlos Tevez proved that without him, his current team would be sitting
comfortably in mid-table mediocrity.
A Boxing Day error by Tim Krul gifted Carlos Tevez the ball and it led to a goal for Gareth
Barry in the opening minutes. Another defensive lapse saw the Argentinian sprint by Fabricio
Colocinni and get his foot onto a James Milner cross to stick the ball into the net. Two goals and
the game was not even five minutes old.
It's odd that the fantasy football schedule is so busy at the moment, yet I feel so disconnected
from it. Being at home, and not sitting at a computer for nine hours a day means I'm not plugged in
to every story, rumour and gossip that comes across the wires. With family commitments and the
chance to take a four-hour bike ride up the coast yesterday, I missed the big Boxing Day fixtures
as
Stadium-sized humiliation This Belgian football fan had a bit of a dampener put on his Christmas
festivities when he decided to propose on the pitch before the Boxing Day match against Standard
Liege. The chap, named Frank, was soon regretting his grand public gesture when girlfriend Natalie
turned him down and did a runner.
Manchester United regained top spot in the Premier League on Tuesday but there were no celebrations
from Alex Ferguson after his team gave up another late goal in a 1-1 draw at Birmingham City.
Earlier Mario Balotelli hit a hat-trick, including two penalties, to help Manchester City beat
Aston Villa 4-0 and briefly occupy top spot.
So I completely missed yesterday's match as I was flying across the country after spending
Christmas in rainy Seattle. But considering the result, I'll try it more often.
Excluding our only league away win last season, Fulham haven't kept a clean sheet on the road,
and won, since May 16 2009 when we beat Newcastle 1-0.
De Ro perfects the look most TFC supporters have
Remember a few weeks ago when Toronto FC Konsültant Jürgen Klinsmann was waxing on about the
pre-Christmas signing of our new head coach? Ah... good times. While the future wasn't exactly
bright (since Tom Anselmi and ML$E were still involved) it was at least something to look forward
to.
SUNDERLAND star Andy Reid could miss most of January with the hamstring strain he picked up in the
Boxing Day game against Everton. The Republic of Ireland international limped off at the end of the
1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light and tests have shown that the muscle strain needs to be given
weeks to recover.
These aren't particularly happy times just to the north of London. The battle for the control of
Watford still threatens to rip the club in half, while Luton Town's start to life in the Blue
Square Premier hasn't exactly gone according to plan either. Stevenage Borough, however, are on the
rise. There was a time that Borough were very much arrivistes in the non-league game.
So here we go again - back to good old fashioned blogging. It's certainly a different pace from
regular country journalism, though FP has missed it.
Now where were we? Oh yes that's right - Perth Glory.
Ever since FP left for his south-bound junket, the Glory seem to have slipped off the pace.
Sorry it's a bit late, but it's a story that is definately worth mentioning. New Year's Day saw
Stevenage go top of the Blue Square Premier after they beat Cambridge United 4-1 at Broadhall Way.
Boro took the place of Oxford United who didn't play because their game against Rushden was
postponed due to the recent poor weather.
Snow, finally. We've seen it on TV, we've been warned about it, and here it is. In
Islington, up in North London, the skies are that bleak grey exclusive to January and February, and
the snow flakes (quite large now) are emerging in chaotic armies, from nothingness, to
nothingness.
There's something strange about this time of year.
Saturday's FA Trophy clash with Vauxhall Motors is likely to be postponed due to the poor
weather conditions over the last few days. Stevenage announced that there would be a pitch
inspection at 1pm on Friday to determine whether the Broadhall Way pitch had a chance of recovering
in time for Saturday, but I've been told it's almost certain to be called off because of the snow
and ice.
