Two new loaners to tell you all about since our last report! Diomansy Kamara joined Leicester
City on loan until the end of the season, and Jonathan Cosgrove joined Brentford on a Youth Loan
until 14 May 2011. (What the hell is a "Youth Loan"?)
Diomansy Kamara started and played 87 minutes in Leicester's 3-3 draw at
Boro.
Diomansy Kamara started and played 75 minutes in Leicester City's 3-2 loss at
Nottingham Forest on Good Friday. He did not dress in the Foxes' 4-2 over Watford on Easter
Monday.
Kagisho Dikgacoi started and played 90 minutes in Crystal Palace's 0-0 draw
atDoncaster on Good Friday.
Sorry for the tardiness of this post. I don't really have an excuse, as it's not like our boys
were up to much...
Diomansy Kamara came off the bench in the 51st minute in Leicester City's 1-1
draw with Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.
Kagisho Dikgacoi did not dress in Crystal Palace's 1-1 draw at Hull City on
Saturday.
Diomansy Kamara came off the bench in the 26th minute and scored a goal in
Leicester City's 4-2 win over Ipswich. He ends his brief loan stint at Leicester City with 7
appearances and 2 goals.
Kagisho Dikgacoi did not dress in Crystal Palace's 3-0 loss to Nottingham
Forest.
Losing a ground doesn't always mean moving to a new venue. AFC Bournemouth bulldozed Dean
Court, spun it around ninety degrees, and rebuilt it as a three-sided ground. For Andy Smith, it
might never be the same again.
Can you write something about the old Dean Court, I was asked? Of course, I reply.
Last season, Brighton cantered to the title, with Southampton and Huddersfield fighting
neck-and-neck for most of the campaign before the Saints eventually prevailed and were joined in
the Championship by play-off winners Peterborough. But who will be up there or thereabouts this
year?
Who's Looking Good?
Even with the sticks-and-stones footballing knowledge at my disposal, I can confidently opine
that winning runs are good for a team. The warm, fuzzy feeling that you get after pocketing three
points slowly snowballs into a huge-ass bear hug as it is superseded by more and more victories.
Arsenal aren't quite in bear hug territory yet, but a 3-0 over Bolton and the 2-1 usurping of
Olympiakos means that the warm, happy tumour is definitely throbbing and eager to grow.

We have mentioned the madness surrounding the current employment of football managers on this
site before in recent weeks, but today there was a rare outbreak of common sense as Bournemouth's
Eddie Howe decided, after much speculation and tribulation, to stay with the club that gave him his
chance in management and turn down the overtures of Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic.

The departure of Owen Coyle 12 months ago has so far proved to be too big an obstacle for
Burnley to recover from. Since the Scot left for the bright lights of Bolton, the club has slipped
from its short-lived stint among the country's elite and back into the Championship, and an
underwhelming first half of this season led to Coyle's successor, Brian Laws, being relieved of his
duties.

New Burnley gaffer Eddie Howe – who is, despite his sixth-form schoolboy looks, all of 33
years old – poses for the obligatory "wearing my new club's scarf proudly" shot. Howe is a fine
young manager who will one day manage in the Premier League (I'd wager), and Burnley's gain is
Bournemouth's loss.

A lot has happened at AFC Bournemouth since we last featured their unlikely assault on the summit
of League 1. Eddie Howe's departure for the less genteel surroundings of Burnley's Turf Moor was
not without controversy and Cherries' fans can be forgiven for hoping that the local hero would at
least bring the season to its conclusion.

Few people will be dismayed by AFC Bournemouth's frankly over achieving 2010-11 and it's a devotee
of the Cherries who we welcome as our latest guest poster. Chris Bridger, author of a recent
missive discussing Zesh Rehman that appeared on Two Footed Tackle, has come to some conclusions
concerning the recent spate of managerial hirings and the decision making processes behind them.
With a fortnight having passed since the keys turned in the lock of the transfer kitty vaults, I
thought I would attempt to identify which ten of the myriad deals done may benefit purchasers most
in the short term. The list below is a subjective one, peppered with both the obvious and the
unheralded, and no doubt destined to be debunked four months from now.
So you aren't allowed to have a Youth team - because of FFA paranoia, finances, rules, whatever -
and yet you play professional football against other clubs, ten of them, most who have a Youth team
and after six years of football - we're seeing heaps and heaps of young players filling in as your
stars get injured or are out of form.
At some imperceptible point, somewhere between January and March, the football season switches
its rhythm. No longer can one look at the league table, work out the gap between your team and the
automatic promotion places, and blithely say, "We can make that gap up". Every match matters, even
though three points won in April are, in the overall scheme of things, worth no more than those won
in August.

Some Loaner tidbits for you before we begin this Report: Neil Etheridge's loan
at Charlton Athletic was cancelled today after he was an unused sub in the second game since
arriving; and Courtney Harris' month-loan at Bromley FC ended on Friday.

Bjorn Helge Riise came off the bench in the 71st minute and promptly scored a
goal in Sheffield United's 2-2 draw with Leeds United. Video of his goal is below:
Eddie Johnson started and played 73 minutes in Preston North End's 2-1 win over
Coventry City on Saturday.
Diomansy Kamara started, played 72 minutes, and scored a goal in Leicester
City's 4-0 win over Burnley on Saturday. I'd post his goal, but I can't find any video nor can I
access the BBC iPlayer. Today he started and played 76 minutes on the Foxes' 1-1 draw with Crystal
Palace.

Spurs lost any slim chance they had of a return to the Champions League next season as a Peter
Crouch goal was the difference between themselves and Man City at Eastlands. City by contrast have
now cemented that fourth place with the win, and cannot be caught by Liverpool either.
The result means that it is all to play for this weekend as Tottenham visit Anfield in a battle
for fifth place and the remaining European (Europa League) spot in the league.
In League One, the sense that this was to be the year of the south coast started to grow as
winter turn to spring. Brighton & Hove Albion soared away at the top of the table, and as the home
straight of the season came into view, the pre-season favourites Southampton also began to pull
away into the distance, themselves securing an automatic promotion place with a couple of games of
the season still to spare.

Off to Old Trafford - but will Huddersfield gain promotion?
Now it's not that I have anything against Peterborough – in fact I always enjoy going to their
cosy little London Road ground and standing on one of the few remaining terraces in English
football – but, along with many of the neutrals, I will be firmly backing Huddersfield Town in
the League One play-off final this Sunday.
We're going from strength to strength when it comes to things that get everyone righteously
pissed off first it was discussing transfer rumors, and now we move to the recently released third

as an attempt at nostalgia gone horribly wrong.

After Spurs completed the signing of Souleymane Coulibaly, the rumour mills continued to link
the club with young players from across Europe.
Whether this is a significant shift in our transfer policy or not, some of these names are
definitely interesting and Alan Gatagov is one who could make an impact in the Premiership.
We continue our Five Days of Football League build-up with a focus on the archival section of our

This thumb-sucking schmo here is Bournemouth striker Danny Ings, a young'n who's been piquing
the interest of a sizeable clutch of the Football League's bigger names over the past year or so
none more so than Crystal Palace, who lodged three separate bids for the 19-year old over the
course of a 90-minute friendly at the weekend.

This team doesn't surprise me anymore. I admit that I was not overly optimistic before the
Exeter game. I didn't think we had brought in enough quality over the summer and I was concerned
that we wouldn't score enough goals to be successful in this division.
Forgive me for suggesting this, but this bottom of the table match seems a lot less special an
occasion than the last time these two met. That game marked the passage into the history books of
one of the few remaining `proper' English football grounds, Saltergate, rendering the 2-1 win for
the home side frankly irrelevant.
