In the wake of Southampton's point deduction and relegation this week, OTP looks at the English
clubs which have been left looking like a bunch of bankers. 1. Leeds United Peter Ridsdale led
Leeds to football's archetypal financial meltdown. While they only cost small change compared to
the millions spent on managerial compensation and outlandish wages, Ridsdale's [.
Eddie Johnson once again came on to start the second half for Fulham, this time in a friendly
against Bournemouth. Unfortunately, Eddie wasn't able to add any points to his tally and the
teams ended in a 0-0 draw.
Still, it's good to see Eddie getting chances. He'll probably have one more friendly to prove
his worth to Hodgson against Peterborough United on July 25 before the real matches start.
Flying with passion.

season.
The striker has scored twice in 18 appearances since joining Accrington in January, having spent
the first half of the campaign on loan at Bournemouth.
He has yet to make his first-team debut for Liverpool and is keen to build up his experience back
in League Two with Stanley.
There's been a clear out of Les Rosbifs in recent days, what with the transfer silly season in full

The English Championship, League One, and League Two divisions are all taking shape as they are
well into their 2009-10 season. Here's a recap of all three divisions along with video
highlights.
English Championship Video Recap
Its still very crowded at the top as Newcastle, West Bromwich Albion, Cardiff City, and
Leicester City are all within one point of each other.
This one's from mid-Novemeber and had gone undetected til now - presumably because most people
don't prowl the internets for highlights from England's fourth tier. Bournemouth's Lee Bradbury
scores a goal after a defender displays quite just why he's in the fourth tier and Lee decides to
plow through his team with the slowest seven [.
This week's featured video is a full length episode of TVS's "The Saturday Match" from April
1983. The main match is a critical match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur from
The Goldstone Ground. Brighton were bottom of the First Division and without a home a league win
since the previous December, but they were still in the FA Cup, and could have been forgiven for
having one eye on their upcoming semi-final against Sheffield Wednesday.
League Two side hit the first of many self-destruct buttons.

One thing that has never been in question about Jermaine Defoe is his undoubted ability. Since
West Ham United nicked him off of Charlton Athletic as a 15 year old, Defoe has scored goals. Be it

Defoe scored.
Cheltenham Town 1 - 1 Rotherham United
League 2 Saturday 20th September
On the form book this match looked to be the draw which Cheltenham then managed to pull off. But
when they say that a good team will get points from a game even when they are playing badly I doubt
that the sooth sayers meant this badly.

Elton John once sang that "sorry seems to be the hardest word." Well if recent trends in English
football are anything to go by, he was wrong. Sorry is quite an easy word. In fact, 'sorry' has
fast become the simple get-out clause for the thrashed, humiliated football team.
