Week 10 of MLS action saw the Galaxy continue to struggle finding points as they tied the expansion
Montreal Impact. The Seattle Sounders saw their chance to climb up in the standings slip away as
they lost at home to Real Salt Lake and somehow, the New York Red Bulls are in first place in the
East.
The pass sliced a clinical arc through the hapless defence. The ruthless beauty of the surgeon's
art won the game.
If I could, I would. The dreams of a paunchy jowled man who is fighting off the strictures of
middle-age are little different from those of an equally podgy fresh-faced only child pestering his
hard-working parents to schlepp him across London to see a meshugenah game of football.

Clint Dempsey scored his 25th international goal in the USA's upset of Italy on Wednesday.

Former New England Revolution midfielder Clint Dempsey found the back of the net in the 55th
minute to hand the U.S. Men's National Team its first-ever victory over four time world champions
Italy, 1-0, on Wednesday.
It was the Alex Morgan show as the US downed Canada in the final of CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying.
Morgan scored twice and assisted on two Abby Wambach goals as the US ran out easy winners over the
host nation. The game was largely meaningless save for regional pride, with both sides having
already qualified for this summer's London games.

This probably isn't going to stay up for very long, but here we have Wigan full-back Maynor
Figueroa pulling off one of the most brazenly ridiculous handballs for quite a while as, with a
matter of minutes left to play against Man City last night, the Honduran leaps like a salmon to
blatantly swat a bouncing ball away with Sergio Aguero poised to scamper in on the Wigan goal from
45-odd yards out.
[Editor's note: Another look at the USMNT under-17 team]
This evening's game took place only 2 days after the American's 2-1 victory over Turkey. One of
my players to watch, Herber Mejia-Flores had an assist and goal in that game. That same day Brazil
drew with France 1-1. In this round robin tournament that meant that Brazil and the US each had 4
points going into this game.

For much of this season, Bayern Munich has looked poised to run away with the Bundesliga title
in the way that Borussia Dortmund did last year. Once riding a 12-match shutout streak across all
competitions, the Bavarian club has cooled off considerably in recent weeks, just as last year's
champions began to heat up.
Video highlights and reaction match report -
Good morning and apologies for the lateness of this particular blog but then
*boilk* and nobody should criticise a man who was drinking whiskey at 6.30am. It's
just not the done thing.
So, we beat Norwich yesterday to continue our good run of form and winningness, again we have to
give thanks and praise to the Lord our Robin for his two goals which sealed the deal.
I can't quite recall but somewhere on the internet there was this discussion about the game that
mentioned the possibility of Arsenal winning by outscoring Chelsea. Did you also read it?
What a game! Amazing. That's how football should be. Both teams started with a very positive
intent and carried on in exactly the same manner for the duration of the game irrespective of the
scoreline changes.
This team has some fight left in them. After last week's rather embarrassing effort against San
Jose, the Fire showed heart and determination during Saturday afternoon's game. Chivas USA is a
fairly similar team to San Jose. A good striker (Juan Pablo Angel), paired with a somewhat slow yet
effective creative midfielder (Nick LaBrocca) to go along with an above average keeper (Dan
Kennedy) make up the core of their side.

MORELIA, MEXICO – Three points were there for the taking, but errors in goal and by the
officiating crew in the last ten minutes proved disastrous for the Los Angeles Galaxy, who fell 2-1
to Monarcas Morelia in their CONCACAF Champions League match.
Follow the bouncing ball. It's time for another college soccer, only this one will be without

A stoppage time goal from Lianne Sanderson kept the Independence in the race for a first place
finish in WPS on Sunday night at Widener University. Tasha Kai gave Philly the lead on 17 minutes
with a wonderful strike from distance only to see her opener cancelled out seven minutes later by
an Eniola Aluko goal.

Spain have won the European Under-21 Championship for a third time after Ander Herrera's header
and an extravagant Thiago Alcántara free-kick proved enough for Luis Milla's team to beat
Switzerland.
Boosted by Ander's 41st-minute goal, Spain wore down a Swiss side who had come into the final on
the back of four straight victories.
The Independence wasted Meghan Rapinoe's early first half goal and were defeated 2-1 by the
Western New York Flash on Sunday evening at Widener University. Rapinoe struck after just 9 minutes
before Becky Edwards and Marta answered back for the undefeated Flash before half time.
Philadelphia coach Paul Riley started the game with Amy Rodriguez as a lone striker, possibly
trying to cope with New York's dynamic attack.
Since our last scheduled programming, the Philadelphia Union have managed to score more than one
goal in a game and to do so in two consecutive games. The Union defeated the Chicago Fire on May
22 at PPL Park by a score of 2-1. Michael Farfan scored his first professional goal, and Carlos
Ruiz supplied the game winner a spectacular, long shot off a bouncing ball that just tucked in
under the crossbar.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Miguel Lopez's 69th minute goal proved all the Los Angeles Galaxy would
need to come away from Gillette Stadium with a victory over the New England Revolution. The Revs
(3-5-4, 13 points) had several chances to come back late in the match, but their offensive
struggles continued as they were shutout for the fifth time in the last eight matches fell to the
first place Galaxy (8-2-5, 29 points).
The New England Revolution held on for a gutsy 3-2 win over D.C. United in the U.S. Open Cup
play-in match last night. The Revs will now travel to face Sporting Kansas City with a spot in the
formal U.S. Open Cup bracket on the line.
With two goals from Kheli Dube and one from Alan Koger, New England took a 3-0 lead after 69
minutes, and then had to hold on for dear life as D.
The Chicago Fire have come away with 0 of their last 9 points, most recently going down 1-2
against a heavily depleted LA Galaxy side at home in Toyota Park. The questions that were being
asked during the pre-season are quickly resurfacing after glimpses of hope in the opening games.
The trends seem to be a porous defense as the Fire lead the league in goals allowed.

Well that was much more like it. A convincing 3-0 win over a fairly disinterested West Ham made
sure we kept pace with Man City and put a litle bit of pressure on United as they face their
bi-annual win over Sp*rs later on.
"Om nom nom ..."
The line-up was as expected and the performance from the lads a far cry from that against
Ipswich.
