The biggest trade of the MLS offseason was finalized on Thursday, with Colorado and New England
completing a deal that had been rumored for some time.
The Colorado Rapids and New England Revolution have completed a deal that will send defender
Cory Gibbs and goalkeeper Preston Burpo to the Revolution in exchange for Wells Thompson and the
rights to Jeff Larentowicz will go to the Rapids, the Boston Herald reported on Thursday
evening.

The big offseason trade between the Colorado Rapids and the New England Revolution is finally
complete. We've been talking about it since last week's draft.
The Colorado Rapids have sent defender Cory Gibbs and goalkeeper Preston Burpo to the
Revolution in exchange for Wells Thompson and the rights to Jeff Larentowicz will go to the
Rapids, this all according to the Boston Herald.
It all looks official now, barring the dotted Is and crossed Ts. This might be a move in the right
direction with Larentowicz. The view on Thompson seems to be mixed. But the Rapids are in desperate
need of a dominant, creative midfielder and the national team's Larentowicz might just fit that
bill. According to the Boston Herald report, the Revolution will get Preston Burpo and Cory Gibbs
in return, plus some money and a draft pick.
Kyle McCarthy of the Boston Herald is reporting that the on-again-off-again trade of Colorado
Rapids defender Cory Gibbs and goalkeeper Preston Burpo to the New England Revolution is a done
deal.
McCarthy reports that Colorado also will send the two players plus allocation money and a
third-round draft pick in 2011 to the Revs for midfielders Jeff Larentowicz and Wells Thompson; he
cites sources with knowledge of the deal.

Steve Ralston's eight-year career with the New England Revolution is over.
The veteran midfielder and team captain has decided not to return to the Revs for the 2010
season, passing on a chance to re-sign with the club for a ninth season.
Yesterday was full of news and one bit of news that came down was surely more surprising than
others. A little tweet on Twitter that said something along the lines of "Steve Ralston will not be
returning to the Revs this year." Of course I am paraphrasing that quote from Boston reporter Kyle
McCarthy.
Midfielder Steve Ralston has opted against re-signing with the Revolution, bringing an end to his
run with the club that started in 2002. "I had eight wonderful years here," Ralston told the Boston
Herald's Kyle McCarthy. "I have one regret and that's not winning MLS Cup.... But I'm proud of all
of the things that we did.

IMS reported broke the news last Friday that AC St. Louis was buying out players from the team's
roster who were not from the St. Louis area. As well, they were looking to unload the expensive
contract of Steve Ralston, veteran MLS player who also had 36 caps with the US Men's National
team.

Coach Nowak tells the Daily News that a tie can make a team "more hungry for a win," which just
might be the weakest thing I've ever heard him say.
Here's a look at Saturday's disappointing game with the New England Revolution from the Boston
