The Wednesday Wonder: Eduardo

Premiership Talk Blog 18 February @ 05:36 PM EST
Baby steps. That's what most people take when recovering from injury. Eduardo took a few and decided he was good to run. One year ago - almost to the day -  Eduardo suffered an injury that not many people come back from. The injury? A compound fracture of his ankle. The images? Sickening to look at. Barca Feel the Pressure at the Top

Premiership Talk Blog 29 January @ 01:17 AM EST
FC Barcelona is surely emerging as the most powerful team in Europe this season as their emphatic dominance in each competition clearly does not lie. Besides, the Catalans have been widely tipped for a treble by several major pundits of European football. However, it has become obvious in recent weeks that Pep Guardiola and his men are beginning to radiate a sense of humility as they urge everyone to relieve them of such massive expectations. Former England captain David Beckham was once again the talk of the town in the Italian Serie A as he scored the first goal of his Milan career against Bologna just moments ago. Beckham, on loan to the Rossoneri in a bid to impress England's Italian manager Fabio Capello, arrived at the end of a Clarence Seedorf pass and struck beautifully into the top corner from the right side of the box. Who Ate All the Pies 11 November @ 09:32 AM EST

Some news to read as you watch your 89-year-old granny knit sweaters for the people whose tires she slashed: Will Chivas USA make the playoffs? Four games for Ramos

The Soccer Weblog 30 September @ 02:42 PM EST
According to the Sun newspaper, Tottenham boss Juande Ramos has got just Four games to save his job. That means he would have to get results at Wisla Krakow, at home to Hull and Bolton and away at Stoke. To be fair, if Tottenham don't win at least three of those games, then I don't think Ramos could complain about being shown the door. Click to continue reading...

Porto are GUNNER get it!!!

Wrighty7 30 September @ 09:39 AM EST
I've a burning belief that Arsenal will destroy Porto tonight. The players should be stung by the performance on Saturday against Hull City and will be out to prove people wrong.
Porto are no mugs but I'm sure that Le Boss has got it drilled into the players that a big performance is necessary. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal v FC Porto Preview and Game Thread

The Offside - Arsenal 30 September @ 09:05 AM EST

I don't have much time this morning for a preview. Not even sure if I'll be home to watch all of the game. But it's an important match after a lackluster affair from the weekend. Also creating significance is the need for points in our group.

Ahead of today's match the boss speaks on how it is easier to win the Champions League than the Premiership.

Six games in to the season and Spurs boss Juande Ramos is under pressure. Fergie praises Styles .... sure why wouldn't he?

Football Corner 29 September @ 03:30 PM EST
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has today praised referee Rob Styles. United profited from an extremely poor penalty decision from Styles during their 2-0 win against Bolton at Old Trafford on Saturday.

AaB Aalborg v Man Utd

Hate Man Utd 29 September @ 12:08 PM EST
Danish champions Aalborg, coached by former Arsenal boss Bruce Rioch, drew 0-0 with Celtic in the first Champions League game of this season. I think even takink home advantage into account, this would be a major upset if Man Utd don't win here. Let's hope I'm wrong! Click to continue reading...

Well That Wasn’t Pleasant

The Offside - Arsenal 29 September @ 11:40 AM EST

I'm still recovering from that. Tip of the cap to the coach and players of Hull City - they played an outstanding game, whereas the high paid players of Arsenal looked liked they didn't care Geovanni's goal was sublime, but he was given too much time and too much space. William Gallas is once again facing a hail of criticism for his shoddy defending and leadership.

There is no room for sentiment-Toure must be dropped.

Wrighty7 29 September @ 09:43 AM EST
Its hurts to say but I think that Le Boss needs to drop Kolo Toure and bring Johan Djourou into the side.
It's obvious that the Toure-Gallas partnership isn't working. There is no doubt that both are superb defenders but as a pair they struggle.
Both need a dominant player alongside them. Click to continue reading...

Post-post-match thoughts

East Lower 28 September @ 03:16 PM EST

I missed the game on Saturday.

For what it's worth, I have a pretty good excuse: my second son was born in the morning, and there's just no way I would have got away with scuttling off to watch us take on Hull in the afternoon. In the end, I have the little devil to thank for saving me from the purgatory of a home defeat to a team that only recently lost 5-0 at home to Wigan.

Well done Hull City, you deserved that. Back to the drawing board Arsene!

Wrighty7 28 September @ 07:51 AM EST
I wrote before that underestimating Hull City would bite us on the arse and that has proved correct.
Hull City fully deserved the three points at the Emirates and credit is due to Phil Brown and the Hull players for the way they performed.
Hull were very impressive and they took advantage of a complacent Arsenal side who have to stop believing that they can simply turn up at the Emirates and wipe teams aside. Click to continue reading...
