Daily Dose 09.30.08

Some news to read as you watch your 89-year-old granny knit sweaters for the people whose tires she slashed: Will Chivas USA make the playoffs? (Chivas Offside) Ryan Babel lays down the beats in a rap video. Probably NSFW, particularly if your boss speaks Dutch. (And who knew that the word f***ing is pronounced [. Everton are thought to be planning a £6million move for Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone in the January transfer window. Four games for Ramos

5
According to the Sun newspaper, Tottenham boss Juande Ramos has got just four games to save his job. That means he would have to get results at Wisla Krakow, at home to Hull and Bolton and away at Stoke. To be fair, if Tottenham don't win at least three of those games, then I don't think Ramos could complain about being shown the door. Click to continue reading...

Porto are GUNNER get it!!!

1
I've a burning belief that Arsenal will destroy Porto tonight. The players should be stung by the performance on Saturday against Hull City and will be out to prove people wrong.

Porto are no mugs but I'm sure that Le Boss has got it drilled into the players that a big performance is necessary. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal v FC Porto Preview and Game Thread

0

I don't have much time this morning for a preview. Not even sure if I'll be home to watch all of the game. But it's an important match after a lackluster affair from the weekend. Also creating significance is the need for points in our group.

Ahead of today's match the boss speaks on how it is easier to win the Champions League than the Premiership.

Six games in to the season and Spurs boss Juande Ramos is under pressure. Fergie praises Styles .... sure why wouldn't he?

1
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has today praised referee Rob Styles. United profited from an extremely poor penalty decision from Styles during their 2-0 win against Bolton at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo was taken down by Bolton defender Jlloyd Samuel, however replays clearly showed Samuel getting a touch on the ball. Click to continue reading...

AaB Aalborg v Man Utd

0
Danish champions Aalborg, coached by former Arsenal boss Bruce Rioch, drew 0-0 with Celtic in the first Champions League game of this season. I think even takink home advantage into account, this would be a major upset if Man Utd don't win here. Let's hope I'm wrong! Click to continue reading...

Well That Wasn’t Pleasant

1

I'm still recovering from that. Tip of the cap to the coach and players of Hull City - they played an outstanding game, whereas the high paid players of Arsenal looked liked they didn't care Geovanni's goal was sublime, but he was given too much time and too much space. William Gallas is once again facing a hail of criticism for his shoddy defending and leadership.

There is no room for sentiment-Toure must be dropped.

1
Its hurts to say but I think that Le Boss needs to drop Kolo Toure and bring Johan Djourou into the side.

It's obvious that the Toure-Gallas partnership isn't working. There is no doubt that both are superb defenders but as a pair they struggle.

Both need a dominant player alongside them. Click to continue reading...

Post-post-match thoughts

0

I missed the game on Saturday.

For what it's worth, I have a pretty good excuse: my second son was born in the morning, and there's just no way I would have got away with scuttling off to watch us take on Hull in the afternoon. In the end, I have the little devil to thank for saving me from the purgatory of a home defeat to a team that only recently lost 5-0 at home to Wigan.

Well done Hull City, you deserved that. Back to the drawing board Arsene!

0
I wrote before that underestimating Hull City would bite us on the arse and that has proved correct.

Hull City fully deserved the three points at the Emirates and credit is due to Phil Brown and the Hull players for the way they performed.

Hull were very impressive and they took advantage of a complacent Arsenal side who have to stop believing that they can simply turn up at the Emirates and wipe teams aside. Click to continue reading...

Rafa Delighted With Defensive Headache

0
Rafael Benitez has admitted the form of his four centre backs has given him a selection headache ahead of this weekend's derby at Goodison.

Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel have been the first choice pairing at the heart of the Reds defence in the Premier League this season, but Daniel Agger and Sami Hyypia both staked their claims for a place in the starting eleven with impressive displays against Crewe in midweek. FA - muppet mayhem

0
I suppose if referees made less mistakes then we wouldn't have quite so much to talk about throughout the football season, the shocking refereeing on show this season has certainly left plenty of room for improvement for the rest of the season. Unbelievably the FA have had the gall to charge Watford's boss Aidie Boothroyd for having the audacity to be angry when a goal was awarded against his Click to continue reading...

Dont underestimate Hull City or it may bite us on the arse...

On paper a home game against Premiership newbies Hull City should an easy three points. But life isn't paper and the reality is that Hull will not come to the Emirates and lay down.
