Remember the other day when we were bemoaning the detrimental effect that kit re-sizing had on
our bringing you the best in short tents? Well, since that sad day, Polish NT striker Arkadiusz
Piech has shown us there is still room for optimism (although not much else) during Poland's
friendly against Bosnia on 16th December.
In this week's review section, we congratulate The Czech Republic, The Republic of Ireland,

After the first leg of the Euro 2012 play-offs, there were a wide variety of results to compare
and analyze before the second leg on Tuesday. Some ties already look finished, while some are still
very much alive.
We take a look at one thing we learned from each match.
Croatia remain world class
A 3-0 demolition of Turkey reaffirms that despite missing out on the World Cup, Croatia are
still a team with enough quality and talent to win the European Championships.

Ron-fingered gesture Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo was snapped giving the finger to Bosnia
supporters while on international duty with Portugal. The ex-Manchester United man reacted when the
supporters shone a laser pen on him during a training session in Sarajevo. Ronaldo has come in for
a tough time since arriving in Bosnia.

The draw for the European Championship qualifying playoffs took place on Thursday morning and no
country is happier with the results than Ireland.
The Irish, who missed out on the 2010 World Cup after facing the tough draw (and Thierry Henry
handball) of France, drew Estonia out of the eight-team pot, giving Ireland the easiest draw in the
pot.

After turning the French centre-half inside-out before open the scoring for Bosnia on Tuesday
evening, it looks like Edin Dzeko proved to be a bit of a 'handful' for Adil Rami on more than one
occasion over the course of the game...
HONK!
It is now more then 24 hours since the disappointing loss to Denmark, a loss that has sent our
National side to the playoff zone and one final attempt to qualify for Euro 2012. Portugal will
face either Turkey, Bosnia, Montenegro or Estonia in a home and home in November and the Quinas
should not take any of these countries for granted.
Following on from their controversial hand of frog, France again were handed no pun
intended a path to the Finals of another major championships as they were awarded a
controversial penalty, despite the foul looking to have occurred outside the penalty box as they
drew 1-1 with Bosnia & Herzegovina to top their group at the expense of last nights opponents.
A late goal by Nasri offsets the 1st half goal by Dzeko in this surprisingly even matchup.Video:

The goal came from Bosnia and Herzegovina fatigue - they fouled Nasri in the box. It's like the
guy knew it was an obvious foul, but just thought they were outside the box.
Nasri converted the spot kick. 1-1. France are through.

So after a terrible game in Finland where we were lucky enough to escape with three points, its
time to move on to the last official game of the Euro 2012 qualifiers. Oh, sure, there is still a
play-off coming up, but there is one last chance that we might just be able to avoid that and
wouldn´t that be nice?
With Germany, Italy, Holland, England, Spain and hosts Poland and Ukraine
already qualified their are still 9 places remaining in the Euro 2012
Finals, so which teams have their own destiny in their own hands and who have to rely on others to
keep their Euro 2012 dreams alive.
Things got ugly in Wednesday's Bosnian Cup match between FK Velež Mostar and H K Zrinjski
Mostar in the ethnically divided town's derby match when Zrinjski fans invaded the pitch to chase
visiting Velez players. The incident occurred in second half stoppage time right after Rijad Demic
scored for Velez.

How bad is this headbutt?
Well, it's pretty bad, but what's the punishment worth?
Check it out:
The headbutter (I know that's not a word but work with me) is Jesus Corona of Cruz Azul. The person
who received the headbutt is Sergio Marti, a trainer with Morelia.
This happened on Sunday at the end of Morelia's 3-0 win over Cruz Azul.

Apologies for the temporary hiatus from blogging. Thankfully Jeff did a great job of recapping
the recent matches against Luxembourg and Croatia.
Probably the biggest recent story in group D is the suspension of Bosnia from all international
competitions. I do believe this destroys any hopes of them qualifying for the tournament as I do
not think they will be able to fix things before their next qualifier on June 3rd.
Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez got on the score-sheet despite his penalty been
saved as Mexico beat Bosnia 2-0 tonight at the Georgia Dome. It was a fairly
heated friendly as friendlies go.
