On Tuesday night, after a heroic performance against AC Milan, Arsenal were knocked out of the
Champions League. Virtually every backpage were full of praises, complimenting Arsene Wenger and
his side. However, the majority were also quick to point out that the Gunners had already thrown it
away, after such a poor performance in Milan.
Well, you know the traditional start of these articles by now. "Every couple of seasons a new
striker emerges on the horizon, blablabla...". We had Geels, Cruyff, Koolhof, Kist, Kieft, van
Basten, Bosman, Gilhaus, Van Loen, Mols, Houtman, Van Nistel, Kluivert, Haisselbaink, Makaay,
Huntelaar, Van Persie, Luuk de Jong, [read more]
Joy is a virtue that fast seems to be disappearing from football. I am in no way a misty eyed
sentimentalist. Nor do I wish to fall into the trap of pining for a mythical past age, where the
sun always shone, the players were your mates and when you could leave your doors unlocked at night
and wake to find someone had come in and plumped your sofa cushions for you.
With the Red Bulls poised to sign Swedish defender Markus Holgersson, I had the chance to exchange
e-mails this afternoon with Torbjörn Dencker, editor, presenter and reporter at Helsingborg

To be honest I never understood what all the fuss was about Dimitar Berbatov leaving Manchester
United on a Bosman at the end of the season. United has an option to extend his contract by
12-months as was there any doubt that they would not exercise it?
So it was not a surprise today when Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed today that Manchester United
will be exercising the option
"We'll be exercising (the option to renew]," said the United boss.
HRH Kofi Sarkodie is at it again, wrapping up the European adventures of both himself and

And here you thought with that title that I was going to write about Landon Donovan heading back
to Everton. Well, for Ginge's sake, I hope Donovan kicks ass across the Mersey.

Less than two weeks ago, Arsenal legend George Eastham celebrated his 75th birthday, in
comfortable retirement in South Africa. He is best remembered by his peers as a skillful inside
forward with an exceptional eye for a pass. Qualities that led to 19 England caps and selection to
the 1966 World Cup squad.
Kenny Dalglish criticises 'paranoia' over Liverpool's Andy Carroll

"obsession" with Andy Carroll.
Jared and I aren't doing the American Soccer Show anymore, but that doesn't mean we don't feel the
need to give you something involving our voices between the old show and the new one. Entitled
"Free on a Bosman" because Jared thought that was clever, this show is partly an update about our
future and partly about the USMNT.
Samir Nasri maybe flying Etihad
This news if true could be the best bit of business for Arsenal as yet. Nasri would have left on
a Bosman with his contract in it's last year.
City and Utd were both looking for a creative midfielder and had sounded their interest in Nasri
earlier in the transfer window but at that time the club was intent on negotiating with him over
improved terms.
Morning all.
Our transfer business continued a-pace yesterday as we provided another signing for another
club. As expected Jay Emmanuel-Thomas joined Ipswich for around £1m. It's an unsurprising move
considering his career trajectory and his age. If he'd stayed at Arsenal this year he would have
had to be included in the 25 man squad and with Arsene Wenger clearly not considering him a player
of that stature a move was the only realistic option.
When the season came to a close, Arsene stated that we needed a bit more strength and experience
in the squad, in particular in defence. The old sage has since enlightened us with the fact that
he will be busy this summer, this was then refined that most business will be done at the end of
July .
Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has threatened to leave the club on a Bosman at the end of the
upcoming season after reportedly telling team-mates that he most certainly will not be signing a
new contract with the Gunners. The Frenchman's future has been the subject of much debate in recent
weeks with Manchester United and [.
Jovanovic Meets With Anderlecht Officials
Liverpool flop Milan Jovanovic has met with officials from Anderlecht regarding a possible move
back to Belgium. The 2010 Bosman signing has failed to make an impression under three different
managers at Anfield, and appears close to calling time on his torrid tenure on Merseyside.
Tra un proibizionismo assoluto ed totale laissez – faire, esistono molte vie di mezzo, in ogni
ambito : sociale, economico e anche il quello che riguarda i calciatori extracomunitari da portare

un correttivo: per prendere un giocatore [.
Manchester City are on the verge of signing Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri for £20
million according to reports.
According to the Sun, Nasri is ready to put pen-to-paper in a £150,000-week deal with
the Gunners receiving £20 million for their prized attacking midfielder.
"You can't have my goolies, Zamparini, you hear me"
Can Arsenal have a straight transfer story for once? Football's groundhog day is surely the
inevitable summer ritual of Cesc Fabregas's "will he won't he this time around." Now, we have the
story of Velez Sarsfield winger Ricardo Alvarez suiting up in Arsenal kit.
A busy summer for Arsenal is becoming a frantic one.
With Arsene Wenger attempting to plug the holes in his leaky central defence, another situation
vacant will soon emerge at left-back.
As revealed by Goal.com last month, Gael Clichy has told the club that he wants to leave Emirates
Stadium after rejecting at least two new contract offers in the last few months.
Gael Clichy is obviously on his way out. His contract negotiations have broken down and with a
year left Arsenal are keen to avoid a Bosman. He's been mentioned before as a sweetener to a
rumoured Karim Benzema transfer. But this is the first concrete offer and it comes from a rival
Premiership side.
Arsenal's position vis a vis Samir Nasri is weak. He's obviously after more wages and with a
year left in his contract, the club gains nothing for him once he leaves on a Bosman. There are a
couple of different options a.) Give him the money he seeks, extend his contract but build in some
performance clauses b.
Morning all, last night I dreamt Arsene was in my kitchen cooking livers and kidneys and I asked
him when he was going to get a move on and sign some new players. "This week", he said, so that's
reassuring, right?
Maybe it's sad that my cheese powered dream is more reassuring than Samir Nasri when asked about
his situation at Arsenal.
Gary McAllister MBE was one of the most influential yet under-rated players in Liverpool's recent
history. The only time I saw Gary Mac live was after his retirement. It was during his appearance
in Carra's testimonial last summer against Everton. Upon his introduction the fans instantly broke
into song.
Surviving the times: How the Bosman killed Ajax is a post from: Just Football
by Mohamed Moallim
When Johan Cruijff left Ajax in 1988, after a falling out with the board over
Marco van Basten's departure to AC Milan, it would be easy to say that event overshadow the year a
precocious left-full back made his debut for the club.
The new Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh was brought to the Emirates on a Bosman this summer, but
was immediately forced into being the Gunners main striker while Robin Van Persie and Nicklas
Bendtner were out injured. He did an excellent job, scoring seven goals in the first 15 games, but
then his performance dropped and [.
