The USA announced their roster for the Cuba match, to be played at RFK Stadium on 10/11/08.
With advancement to the next round close to a sure thing, Bradley has taken a few more risks
(well...I'd be happy to debate anyone on how "risky" they actually are) and called in
some younger players. I, for [.
Borussia Moenchengladbach sports director Christian Ziege has just confirned that American Michael
Bradley may spend the next few seasons plying his trade at Borussia Moenchengladbach. Ziege told
the Rheinisher Post that Bradley is a "dangerous, versatile player but also a classic
playmaker.
It took 12 weeks but Borussia Moenchengladbach finally recorded its first road win of the season by
downing Arminia Bielefeld 2-0. Michael Bradley went the full 90 and contributed offensively and
defensively to the effort - a positive sign after only five previous appearances, mostly as a
substitute.
Newly signed American midfielder Michael Bradley, who is still adjusting to a new team situation
will soon need to adjust to a new coach. Borussia Moenchengladbach coach Jos Luhukay was fired
today after a lackluster start to the Bundesliga season, topped by a 2-1 loss to 1FC Cologne
yesterday, a match which featured numerous brawls beteeen opposing fans.
Borussia Moenchengladbach are still searching for their winning ways but at least managed to get a
point this week against VFL Bochum in a 2-2 draw. Gladbach's American midfielder Michael Bradley
played the full 90 minutes in a 4-4-2 system, providing the pass which led to his team's first
goal.
Like a few other American players this past weekend, Hansa Rostock defender Heath Pearce had to
watch from the bench as his team drew a home match with VFL Osnabruck 2-2 in Second Bundesliga
play. The Hansa board and fans, after years spent in the First Bundesliga expected to be further
along by now in their quest for promotion back to the top flight, not languishing in 12th place
with only three wins in 12 matches.
Michael Bradley started today for Moenchengladbach against Wolfsburg and he did not perform
well. He saw little of the ball, and when he did have a chance to score he provided a poor
finish. To make matters worse, in the 54th minute Bradley's lazy marking on a set piece led
to Wolfsburg's second goal as [.
Just a week after scoring his first Bundesliga goal, American Michael Bradley scored another this
week, just not for his team. Just when things were looking up for his new stint at Borussia
Moenchengladbach, an own goal against Energie Cottbus did not help. In the early going, a 3rd
minute header by Bradley could have put the Foals ahead early if not for a good save by Cottbus
keeper Gerhard Tremmel.
Dempsey is listed to start up front with Zamora for Fulham today, as they take on WBA. Amidst
rumors of Clint's unhappiness on the bench, Hodgson has given the Texan a chance to prove himself
and hopefully he'll seize it by the collar and put in a good performance. UPDATE: Dempsey didn't
suck (but Fulham did [.
Michael Bradley's Borussia Moenchengladbach had a real challenge today in trying to claw out of the
relegation zone facing powerhouse Bayern Munich. The visitors jumped on top early on a 21st minute
Luca Toni goal for a 1:0 lead. A 45th minute Bradley header from a Marko Marin free kick, which
could have tied the game for the Foals, just missed sending both teams to the locker room with
Bayern up 1:0.
Michael Bradley's Borussia Moenchengladbach side is making some shrewd deals this winter to keep
themselves afloat in the Bundesliga during the second half of the season. Canadian vet Paul
Stalteri, who last played in the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen, has been signed from Tottenam
Hotspur. The versatile 31 year-old can play in defense or midfield and his playing style is
uniquely suited to the forceful play of the Bundesliga.
Somebody finally stopped the Montreal Impact and it figures that it would be another Canadian
team to do it.
The Vancouver White Caps ended Montreal's dream USL season with a 2-0 victory that helped give
Vancouver a 2-1 series aggregate victory in the USL playoff semifinals on Sunday.
First-half goals from Jeff Clark and Eduardo Sebrango provided the margin of victory for
Vancouver, which received a shutout from goalkeeper Tyler Baldock, who made his first start of the
season in place of suspended goalkeeper Jay Nolly.
After six losses entrenched them at the bottom of the league table, Borussia Moenchengladbach fired
their coach Jos Luhukay today. Reuters reports: "We're looking for a new coach but we're going
to do it calmly and carefully," [Club Sporting Director] Ziege told www.borussia.de.
"We're not going to make a hasty decision and I've therefore agreed to [.
Add another club to the list of teams interested in Standard Liege's American defender Oguchi
Onyewu. Now, Kicker is reporting that Borussia Moenchengladbach (Michael Bradley's team)
is interested in acquiring Gooch.
While 'Gladbach could certainly use help on the back line, its hard to see Gooch taking a transfer
to a team which appears bound for relegation to the Second Bundesliga (unless he is confident
enough to think he can help them stay up).
Each Monday, we'll check in overseas to see how our two English teams and American players
abroad have fared. It's especially interesting on Europe's frenetic answer to Labor Day, Transfer
Deadline Day (you could also opt for The Guardian's aristocratic humor for your
up-to-the-minute coverage):
EVERTON: Ouch.
I owe, I owe, it's back to my club I go ...
OUR TEAMS
Everton (1-2-0, 17th in Premier League): Away to Stoke (8:30 a.m. ET Sunday; 11
a.m. on Fox Soccer Channel). Marouane Fellaini should be in the lineup, but new defender Lars
Jacobsen is out for a while.

Michael Bradley knew it wouldn't be easy.
He was fully aware that being a 21-year-old newcomer to a struggling German Bundesliga club
already a few weeks into their season would not make for the easiest transition, but he is far from
being discouraged by the fact that he did not play in Borussia Moenchengladbach's most recent two
matches, a pair of losses that led to the firing of the club's manager, Jos Luhukay.
Borussia Moenchengladbach is coming to Colorado in July. They'll be training and, as mentioned over
at We Want Rapidman, look to be playing the Colorado Rapids.
