The highlight of this weekend's fixtures was the match at the Olimpico in Turin between
Juventus and Napoli. After numerous quality acquisitions over the Summer for Napoli, they had
been expecting a good start to the season. However, after a less than impressive start, Roberto
Donadoni was sacked and Walter Mazzarri brought in to try and settle the ship.
A few nice goals this week, but nothing extraordinary. Giuseppe Mascara scored one of his
trademark wonder-goals, and Marco Borriello got back on the scoresheet with 2 goals (the second a
nice scissor kick) after almost a year. Diego Milito got back to his scoring ways as well after
being absent through injury, and Mirko Vucinic finally scored his first goal of the season.
Click to continue reading...
Before the Serie A season started, AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi
forced Ronaldinho to stand on a table and promise his teammates he would lead them without
question, and that he would help AC Milan recover from the loss of Kaka through good playing. With
Kaka and Ancelotti gone, AC Milan is left with Leonardo, Ronaldinho, and Pato.
Good news. Milan are considering offloading Borriello in the January transfer window in order to
raise funds to try and get Luis Fabiano, again. It is terrific how the board are apparently keen to
sell Borriello. In my view he is completely out of his depth playing for Milan and with him the
team would [. Click to continue reading...
In many ways a new year of Serie A doesn't truly begin until it features one of thee Big
Matches. It is often said that over the course of the season it's the the "little games", those
against teams battling for relegation, that pave the road for a championship title. Often true, but
the "little games" certainly are not those everyone is waiting to see.
I'm back ladies and gentlefolk. There have been some cock-ups over the past few days with
Aamir's posts and I have been unable to correct anything because I've had no access. Apologies for
that.
By the way, thanks Aamir for filling in over the past few days.
Now, onto the main story this week; we scored another three goals to secure our passage through
to the Champions League group stages Eduardo has become somewhat of a hate figure in the press (see
the headline) for diving to win a penalty.
primo derby milanese. Click to continue reading...
scaldare i motori. Click to continue reading...
Italy's most-loved gangsta' is back and ready to play a full match! FutbolitaBetsy reminded us about the Milan tour in USA in July, so all of you who're
attending the game must remember to bring napkins for Gattuso when you see
him.
Anyway, poor Paolo Maldini has to spend his final season fending off rants about his team's
injury misfortunes.
If the media are to believed, AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti is the one of the most sought after
managers in world football with Real Madrid and Chelsea among the sides linked with the Italian
boss for the 2009-10 season.
However, this writer struggles to see why Ancelotti's stock is so high at a time when his own
job at Milan must be considered seriously under threat.
For some reason whenever Serie A plays during the week I always feel like it isn't the same. I
love the tradition of Serie A Sundays and Serie A on Wednesday just feels strange. But it's still
Serie A, so I could care less because I love calcio. Giornata 4 was another great round of calcio:
Inter took sole lead of the Serie A table after getting a result vs a tough Lecce side thanks to
Julio Cruz, Juventus drew Catania at home and wasted many chances to get all 3 points, Milan keeps
bouncing back after a win in Reggio Calabria, Roma continues to struggle after losing away to
Genoa, and Fiorentina were outclassed by Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.
-Milan striker Marco Borriello has been operated on and will now start his recovery. Reports are
he will be out for around 2 months. (could be less if he puts a lot of hard work into the recovery
process.)
-Pierluigi Casiraghi is predicting a big Olympic performance from Lazio striker Tommaso
Rocchi.
Azzurri - Les Blues! Do or die! The World Cup finalists on the edge of elimination. France: Coupet, Clerc, Gallas, Abidal, Evra, Govou, Toulalan, Makelele, Ribery, Benzema, Henry. Subs: Mandanda, Frey, Boumsong, Vieira, Malouda, Anelka, Nasri, Thuram, Squillaci, Gomis, Sagnol, Diarra. Click to continue reading...
Some interesting transfer news and notes today. Marco Borriello will wear the Rossonero jersey
once again, as Milan sealed the deal with Genoa yesterday. The Rossoblu received 7 million euro
plus the co-ownership of promising young fantasista Davide Di Gennaro. Milan have decided to take a
gamble on the target man, who was ever so close to becoming the Serie A top scorer this season.
Novi talijanski bombarder Je li stiglo vrijeme Marca Borriella? Prisjećamo se samo jednog igrača prije Marca Borriella koji je toliko lutao prije no
što je uistinu uspio. On je Luca Toni. Desetak je godina tražio sebe po klubovima od
treće do prve lige, dok nije pogodio zlatnu žicu u Palermu. Click to continue reading...
