Boro's new home kit was fully revealed this morning. It's billed as "the beautiful kit for the
beautiful game", which is quite a line for a team in the Championship. Perhaps "the beautiful kit
for the ugly game" would...
We're already in the middle of June, and though the signings haven't been coming hard and fast
just yet, that doesn't mean that there's a shortage of action thus far in the summer transfer
window.
In this morning's transfer news and rumors roundup, we've got tidbits from England, Spain,
Italy, Germany, France, and Greece, with many big names and big clubs looking to spend, spend,
spend.
Recently relegated former English Premier League side Middlesbrough have launched their 2009/10
Adidas home kit. Boro will don this strip in the English Football League Championship for the 09/10
as they attempt to make a swift return to the Premiership. According to Middlesbrough's website:
The 2009-10 strip features a white sash on both sides of a red [.
We are almost at the end of another season but there are still plenty of EPL fantasy points up for
grabs. As the cellar dwellers battle it out to avoid the drop, there is opportunity to bring in a
couple of relegation battlers. At the bottom it's do or die for 5 of the clubs and there may be
some points being scored, probably in the attacking areas (there probably will not be any defensive
spoils.
Millwall have completed the signing of Boro captain Steve Morison for a fee of £130,000. It's
been expected for some time now that this was Morison's last season at Broadhall Way and the news
came this afternoon that a deal had been agreed with the South London side for Boro's topscorer for
the last 3 seasons to move to the New Den.
With West Brom, Newcastle and Middlesbrough being confirmed as the 3 teams to be relegated from
the Premier League this season there is going to be a few players jumping ship. Who do you think
will get signed up? Here is our list of chosen players...
1. Tuncay (Middlesbrough). Boro's best player by a country mile.
This week the age old melody banter between two sets of fans. Thats right football
chants. Obviously there are some offensive corkers we have left out, but the ones we left in are
equally class. Enjoy!!
10. 'Nani are you ok, are you ok Nani'
- Man yoo fans to Nani, in the tune of MJ's Smooth Criminal.
Part two of my under-rated players list features some smaller names who have been in the league for
some time now. All four men are talented and hard working, but often don't get enough credit or are
over criticized. 16. Gary O'Neil Midfielder, Middlesbrough, England Gary O'Neil made history for
Portsmouth back in 2000, becoming the club's youngest ever player at just 16 years old.
After a fantastic performance by Manchester United in the second leg of their Champions League
semi-final at the Emirates, United winger Park Ji-Sung has cemented himself as this week's
Wednesday Wonder. The man of many names (Park Ji-Sung, Ji-Sung Park, Three-Lung Park) has now had
two consecutive great performances for a Manchester United squad that is rolling.
An unpopular (in fantasy terms), underrated, or out of form player I think may surprise on the
weekend...
You definitely don't own him - it's Boro's Tuncay. Tuncay (6.7M) is owned by just 1% of fantasy
premier league managers but if Boro have any chance of staying up (and beating Fulham at home this
weekend) Tuncay will be involved.
The club have confirmed that the fixtures for next season will be released on July 3rd. Not long
now until we can really start talking about Boro again and start planning them long trips to
Gateshead and Chester City that await us in the coming months. Unlike the fixtures in the football
league and Premier League, the fixture list in the BSP gets decided by hand, so holiday fixtures
can be evenly distributed and the fixtures meet local policing standards.
Former Futsalroo, Head of Coerver Coaching Australia and Canberra Jason Lancsar returned my call
last night from the train from London to Newcastle!
"I'm with
Alf (Galustian, Head of Coerver International) we're heading to Newcastle to do some work with
them," said Jason.
"You'd better hurry coz they are woeful and could get relegated tonight.
It's coming down to the last 2 games of the season and several teams still have a lot of to play
for. Manchester United can clinch the league trophy with a victory or draw against Arsenal, West
Brom hosts Arsenal in their last chance effort to avoid relegation, Newcastle continues their fight
to stay up against Fulham, and Chelsea tries to catch Liverpool for second.
Any concerns that we may be entering next season with our talismanic captain, as a result of a
suspension from the spitting row with Hull, have finally been ended with confirmation that there
was no evidence in the first place. That it has taken the FA a little over two months to determine
that, when we all knew within hours, is baffling yet somehow exceptionally unsurprising.
A quick thought on the debate that has been rumbling all week, and that is the outrage in the
North East that Manchester United are going to field a weakened team against Hull at the KC Stadium
on Sunday.
Ok, so it is a big day for the three North East teams involved, not to mention Hull, however I'm
not quite sure the threat to sue them is the way to go about preparing your team in the lead up to
the most vital 90 minutes of your season.
Arsenal are preparing a bid for Wolfsburg's striker Edin Dzeko.
Reports in today's papers are claiming that Wenger is prepared to launch a bid for Wolfsburg's
Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko. Manchester City are also interested in the player, but Wenger is
hoping to use the fact that we can offer him Champions League football, something that £100K a
week did not both Gareth Barry.
So it's finally come to an end. The most protracted and annoying transfer saga in Manchester
United history has ended with Cristiano Ronaldo finally getting his wish to look absolutely
fabulous in all white whilst topping up his tan in the Spanish Sun.
Some will inevitably see the deal, and his request for it, as inconclusive proof of their belief
he is an evil, diabolical, ungrateful little grasping greasy foreign **** who should be strung up
and paddled for the sheer gall of wanting to play for anyone but Manchester United.
Tonight is a huge night for Stevenage Borough Football Club. Tonight is the night that will more
or less determine whether the club will have the chance to play for football league status in the
play-offs. Basically what a win will do tonight is make Sunday the next 'Biggest game of the club's
history' and so on.
Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia, defender Johan Djourou and frontman Emmanuel Adebayor are all expected
to return for Arsenal's league tie with Middlesbrough this Sunday. All three have been out of some
important fixtures in the Gunners' fixture list, but have been pencilled in to start Sunday's
fixture at the Emirates.
St James' Park reached to the bottom of its lungs for one last time, producing a blood-curdling
final battle cry to its beleaguered heroes. On the sideline Alan Shearer looked on more in blind
hope than confidence, whilst Iain Dowie simply looked ridiculous with his "Phil Brown" headset.
Danny Guthrie trotted over to the left touchline and spotted the ball up, in the middle a scrum of
players jostled for position.
We caught up with Ed from United Rant for a quick fire interview ahead of the crunch game
between Middlesbrough and Manchester United at the Riverside Stadium.
Introduce yourself, how long have you been an United fan and do you get to many
games?
Hi, I'm Ed and I've been going to watch United regularly since the 1980s.
All eyes may be on Manchester United and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League but at the
bottom something equally as interesting is happening. On Monday May 11 Newcastle face Middlesbrough
at St James' Park and the loser will almost certainly be playing their football in the Championship
next season.
Stevenage's newest signing is attacking midfielder Joel Byrom who joins Graham Westley's side
from relegated Northwich Victoria. Boro have been quick since winning the FA Trophy at Wembley to
strengthen their squad for next season and Byrom is the biggest signing of them so far. £15,000
has been spent on securing Byrom's services from Northwich.
Newcastle United looks to avoid relegation as they host Fulham at St James Park on Saturday.
Fulham are in 7th place and looking to book a spot in the Europa League for next season. Live
coverage will begin at around 14:30 GMT (9:30 EST) and the match is set to start at 15:00 GMT.

The upcoming weekend of Premier League football is of massive importance, not for the top of the
table but for the bottom. One side is already down; West Brom. And there are four other sides who
are in danger of going down; Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Hull City and Sunderland. For the first two,
the situation is dire, neither 'Boro or Toon have their own destiny in their hands, and are hoping
for either Hull or Sunderland, or both to slip up.
The final day of the 2008/2009 Premier League season is this weekend, and all of the attention
will be focused on the bottom of the table to determine who will be relegated or not. Here's the TV
schedule for residents in the UK and USA:
UK:
Ready For Sunday then?
So, how's your nerves? Sky Sports News have today been running an article about stress relief
for fans for Sunday. Tips included having a hot bath, avoiding alcohol and meditating to stay
relaxed in the build up to the final round of matches in the Premiership. Which will be no help to
any of the fans who's nerves are probably already shredded about Sunday.
Happy holiday. Congrats to Burnley for booking a spot in the top flight for the first time since
1976.
The Clarets are up and Newcastle, Boro, and WBA are down.
We'll have plenty of fresh faces to scout this summer and plenty of potential studs and duds to
discuss.
For now, enjoy The Champions League final this week and look out for our season review commentaries
coming soon.
So, this is a bit belated, but it appears that Rodrigo Possebon has been loaned to Sporting
Braga. The Portuguese side finished fifth in the Liga Sagres (thereby qualifying for the Euro
League... or UEFA Cup... or whatever the hell it is that Arsenal will soon find themselves
competing in).
The young Brazilian featured primarily in Carling Cup matches last season, and had his playing
time further reduced by a rather nasty tackle from Boro's Emanuel Pogatetz.
News today is suggesting that Tuncay will be selected to give Sheffield United a test to their
defence.
Tuncay remains one of the most high profile players still on our books, with Southgate saying,
"I'm amazed" at the fact he's still here.
"We've told him all along that we would not stand in his way if the right offer came in,
but so far that hasn't happened.
One of the more puzzling tactical decisions from Graham Westley so far this season has been his
reluctance to give new midfielder Stacy Long a run in the team, especially as the creative side
of Boro's game is not quite where it should be. It's been more long ball than Long.
Stacy moved to Broadhall Way in the summer after a successful spell at Ebbsfleet United.
The Championship season is well under way and it will be a fascinating tussle for the teams who
are battling it out for a big juicy slice of the pizza that is the Premiership.
Out of 24 teams in the second tier of English football, realistically you could say 15 have
actual aspirations to be promoted or to be in or around the play-offs come May.
After dramatic victory against Mansfield last Saturday, Boro return to action tomorrow against
bottom side Chester. After having 25 points deducted at the start of the season it was always going
to be an up hill struggle for Chester to overcome and 9 points from their opening 9 games have not
given them a great start either.
Redknapp keeping eye on promising winger.
Portsmouth Vs Tottenham Tickets Still Available!
Dubbed the "Next Ryan Giggs" Adam Johnson has a bright future ahead of him and perhaps an even
brighter one if he manages to get a transfer away from Middlesbrough in the near future, dependent
of course on whether Gareth "I am an awful manager" Southgate can get the Riverside outfit back to
the Premier League at the first time of asking.
With Manchester United and Aston Villa joining most of the other Premier League clubs in the fourth
round, the FA Cup draw has cooked up some interesting draws. The pick of the bunch is perhaps the
Merseyside derby. Everton will be making the short trip to Anfield in the fourth round to take on
cross-town rivals Liverpool.
The woes of Gareth Southgate New Year, New Sack Race The old (rather lame) gag did the rounds back
in 1996: What's the fastest way to leave Wembley? Through the South Gate. Ever since he stepped up
to the plate, taking on the mantle of the last England player who you'd want to take a sudden-death
penalty, Gareth Southgate's career has become a series of stumbles and falls.
Boro's French forward would like his manager to make his mind up about where he wants him to play.
Middlesbrough forward Jeremie Aliadiere does not mind being asked to play on the right-wing, he
insists, rather than his preferered striking position, but he does object to manager Gareth
Southgate switiching him between the two roles on [.
Yesterday saw both West Brom and Middlesbrough all but book their place in the Championship next
season.
The Premier League's bottom side, West Brom were comfortably beaten 2-0 at home to Stoke City. The
defeat leaves them with little chance of catching Sunderland who currently occupy 17th spot, eight
points ahead of Tony Mowbray's men.
Lots to get to today, including a story that could very well represent the biggest change to
English Football since the Taylor report recommended abolishing terraces in the wake of the
Hillsborough disaster. Unfortunately, I can't devote any space to the story that a group of MPs
have decided on their own that three of the top four teams are engaged in 'financial doping' and
that English teams should adopt the 6+5 rule, irregardless of the fact that it's illegal and
immoral.
Well, injury news today, and there's some good and some bad.
First, the good news. No one was hurt in Tuesday's Liverpool match, so there are no new names to
add. Manuel Almunia and Johan Djourou both participated in a full training session today, and could
be back as soon as Sunday. Adebayor is also close to a return, and could be back in the squad for
Boro as well.
