Los Uruguayos dieron cuenta de los Ticos, en su propia casa, tal parece que Costa Rica esta destinado a perder todo lo importante en casa, el juego estuvo trabado y con muchos golpes, el futbol no lució, pero los de Diego Forlán ganaron y recibirán el próximo miércoles a unos cabisbajos Ticos en Montevideo.

Just when you thought Costa Rica's World Cup qualifying hopes couldn't get any worse, they manage to get worse.

Just a week after seeing head coach fired Rodrigo Kenton and replaced by Rene Simoes, the "Ticos' have now lost standout central midfielder Celso Borges for the remainder of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying after he suffered an injury while playing with Norwegian club team Fredrickstad, an injury he blamed on the artificial turf.

A 2-1 victory over strugglers Atlético Paranaense plus São Paulo's and Internacional's failures to win their games has left Palmeiras in a commanding position in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Chile international Figueroa made the best of his first start for Palmeiras scoring the Green's opener in the Palestra Itália.

Brasileiro: Tight Race Between 3 Contenders

In the 23rd round of the Brasileirao, the race for the title came down to what is promising to be a tight one. Palmeiras (44 points), Inter (43) and Sao Paulo (40) won their matches and offered no chance for each other to relax.

On the match that marked the return of Vagner Love, Palmeiras received Barueri at home.

The 18th round of Campeonato Brasileiro saw a club very used to the top 4 reach the group for the first time in 2009. Sao Paulo struck its 5th victory in a row by beating 3-1 Goias, the club who sat in second. Sao Paulo reached a series of 7 defeatless matches (6 victories, 1 draw), and watched another good journey by Hernanes, Dagoberto, Miranda and Jorge Wagner (who scored the second goal).

Inter threw away a two goal lead as São Paulo came back to earn a 2-2 draw at the Beira-Rio last night.
Alecsandro who was recalled to an Inter side which saw both Taison and D'Alessandro dropped, scored twice in the first half to give Inter a healthy advantage.

While both CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals on Saturday night were tightly contested, Sunday's quarterfinals were anything but.

Mexico and Costa Rica both scored blowout victories on Sunday in Dallas to set up a great semifinal match-up. Costa Rica rolled to a 5-1 victory against Guadeloupe, while the Mexicans were never troubled in posting 4-0 victory against Haiti in front of a sold-out crowd of 82,252 at Dallas Cowboys Stadium, the first event at the new stadium.

Han terminado los cuartos de final, y tenemos prácticamente a los cuatro mejores equipos del Hexagonal de CONCACAF, Estados Unidos, Honduras, Costa Rica y México, en las semifinales de la Copa Oro. Por ahí se esperaba algo más de Canadá o Guadalupe, pero al final se impuso la experiencia de los ya clasificados.

After the 10th round of Campeonato Brasileiro, Atletico-MG returned to the top after the 3-0 victory in the Belo Horizonte derby. Besides the pathetic red card by Cruzeiro's Ze Carlos, the men of the match were veteran Junior and forward Eder Luis - even though in his goal goalie Andrey gave a big help.

Celso Roth's revitalization of Atlético Mineiro continued on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over Náutico in Belo Horizonte. En un juego donde los ticos sorprendieron al lider del Hexagonal, al conjunto de las barras y las estrellas que parecía imbatible, lo derrotaron por 3 goles a 1, que facilmente pudieron haber sido 4 a 0.

El conjunto Tico llega a 9 puntos en la zona de Concacaf, por 7 de los Estados Unidos, con esto Costa Rica se coloca en la primer posicion y baja a los Estadounidenses al segundo lugar, ademas de quitarle la etiqueta de invicto.

A stoppage time penalty from Landon Donovan took some of the sting out of a tough loss to Costa Rica at San Jose's Saprissa Stadium on Wednesday night. Showing an experimental 433 lineup, the US ended up getting tested early and playing behind for most of the game.
