Yet another Clasico is upon us, infact the fourth of this season and the first of 2012. When it was confirmed that this years Copa Del Rey will see both Barca and Madrid taking on one another, the reaction of both set of fans were classic. For the fiirst time in history they all greeted with a collective sigh of "Not Again, Lord".

To build a football brand in Brisbane, the Roar had to win last night. While the crowd had already halved from 20,000 to 10,000, Roy Morgan found this week that Brisbane is the most watched (TV) soccer team in the A-League. A shock for Melbourne Victory perhaps.
That was one disappointment from last night.

It may sound odd to call a four goal win unspectacular, but that is exactly what it was. And exactly what you want from Arsenal when facing the worst club in the Premier League. It may sound negative, but it's possibly the best thing you can say about today's match.

Arsenal would line up exactly how Brenton described we would in the preview yesterday showing you exactly why you should be reading the match previews.

Steve Doughty of the Daily Mail recently wrote a piece that defies logic. In the wake of the allegations facing Louis Suarez and John Terry, his piece entitled "Football may not be perfect but it has come a long way since the 70's" He not only condones the racist abuse allegedly dished out by John Terry, he goes on to suggest that the victims should just get on with the game, for in his analysis ".

Relegation battles beat the boredom scrapping them would be crazy

It's been a staple of the modern game and provides the type of drama you don't experience at the top end of the table, so why is the highly successful relegation system under threat?

It's been a fun week to follow Liverpool, with the crushing boredom of another international break coming along just as the things were starting to pick up followed by the kind of ridiculous insanity in the press that seems to come along before every United match. And by fun I of course mean absolutely hideously unbearable.

This is easily the greatest thing to happen to cell phones since that thing with the bubbles which got many a person through hospital and doctor waiting rooms sans boredom. It's caled Eye Mou, and the video explains all. Basically, it's a taste of his own medicine.

But as with all great inventions, the genius is in the detail: That Guy in the background makes the whole thing.

The game is underway, the action has reached a point of let's be honest, boredom. The Emirates crowd is hushed awaiting some excitement, it doesn't come, a player makes a mistake, groans cascade down towards the pitch, a young man stands up and with arms aloft sings "Arsenal, Arsenal Arsenal" at the top of his voice.

In Defence of Andy Carroll

For a man almost two metres tall, built like a rugby player and capable of putting the fear of God into any defence in England, it seems strange that Andy Carroll would require defending. It is the most recent example of the British media's lazy lapses into boredom that produce stories such as the ones that have emerged this week regarding the striker's drinking habits.

Alright, alright, technically neither of these are Tottenham WAGs. Abbey Clancy, because Crouch has left us for Stoke, and Louise Redknapp, because, well, shes not married to her dad. But I can't think of any better way to say goodbye to Crouch and fill the boredom of the international break by posting pictures of the departed Clancy one last time, and the reigning Tottenblog Hotspur WAG Cup winner, Louise Redknapp.

Recently I tweeted out asking what you think is wrong with MLS. I got a plethora of responses. Some were well thought out and some simply ranted and moaned without being realistic. I thought I'd address some of the more thought out ones. Number one on my list was a follow up to my previous thoughts on Jurgen Klinsmann.

What's the most important part of being a Town fan? What is it that sends you home with a smile on your face: win, lose, or draw? What made Leicester away so much fun despite the dismal score line?
The banter with the Town fans, that's what I believe, and it's time we send every other Championship fan home thinking the same.

There has to be a plan. There has to be.

Good morning to you.

It's Friday again. That means we've gone through another week without any of the following things happening:

  1. Signing a new player
  2. Signing more than one new player
  3. Selling a player who has said they want to leave the club but for whom nobody has bid
  4. Selling a player we wouldn't mind keeping but who is being a dick so we might as well sell him
  5. Selling a player we definitely don't want to sell

You'll notice how I finished on a positive note there.

So the excitement continues. No, wait. What's the opposite of excitement? That's it. Boredom. The boring boredom continues. Monday saw a trending frenzy (get me, trending) on Twitter regarding an apparent thirty-five million smacker bid from United for Modric. Which, understandably got many fans of both clubs into somewhat of a social media flap.

Former England defender Jamie Carragher admits players suffer from a fear factor when they are playing for the national team.
Carragher came out of international retirement when he was selected by England manager Fabio Capello for last year's World Cup campaign in South Africa. However, England experienced a woeful tournament and crashed out 4-1 to Germany in the last 16, leading to a torrent of criticism for both players and management.

There was a time when I spent a few hours every day browsing the Arsenalsphere. In the last 10 days or so I don't think I have totaled an hour of surfing. There is so little going on.

First a random player is linked. Then the supposed transfer moves forward. One day, according to unsubstantiated reports, a player is close to signing as terms are settled.

Obvi we've been feelin' on American boys as of late, and J.A.'s torso is a welcome addition to our newly-founded Star Spangled Stomachs Appreciation Club (although next time, Juan, square your shoulders for the camera so we can observe your full abdominal monty).

I don't know why I have blogged so much today. It could either be pure unadulterated boredom or just that I have a lot on my mind and plenty of time to write today.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I thought Gael Clichy was fantastic in Barcelona and is showing signs of being his old self again.

Wayne Rooney did score a remarkable goal on Saturday, that overhead kick which in his own words, "usually goes over the bar". It made the score 2-1 and there were no more goals in this local derby. The win by Man United confirms them as most likely to win the English Premier League this season.

Wait, don't say boredom, general malaise or apathy to do anything else productive with your life that doesn't involve holding a remote in one hand and a Bud Light in the other.Beyond my general cynicism, it's a simple question to answer when you have a vested rooting interest in one of the participants.

Speaking of young footballers, this from Joe Posnanski is a must read.

In this, Joe looks at top quarterback selections in the NFL draft and points out that these players almost never make it to the levels expected of them. In case you're not aware, the system in the NFL is that each season the worst team gets to choose first from a pool of all the nation's young talent, and so on and so forth.
