Arsenal moved closer to getting rid of one of Arsene Wenger's most unsuccessful signings of recent times, as the French striker Marouane Chamakh revealed that he is willing to return to France with his old club Bordeaux.
Chamakh lost his confidence very quickly after arriving at Arsenal, and even on his 5 month loan at West Ham he only managed to make two starts for the Hammers.
No Arsenal Bid for Rooney But Sanogo Deal Is Close
ArseneWenger has rubbished media reports which claimed that Arsenal have already launched a bid to sign want-away ManchesterUnited striker WayneRooney.
It may be a bit premature, with Marouane Chamakh having started just once for Arsenal all season, but his two goal heroics in the unforgettable Capital One Cup victory against Reading may just have given the Moroccan striker a chance to resurrect his career as a Gunner.
The 28-year old should be at his peak, but seemed to have lost all confidence and it looked like he would soon be on his way out of the Emirates.
Arsene Wenger doesn't have many out-and-out strikers at Arsenal, but when it looked like Olivier Giroud was going to need time to settle in the Frenchman started to experiment with Gervinho and Theo Walcott moving into the centre.
But everyone seems to have forgotten that Arsenal also have Marouane Chamakh as an option, a true centre-forward with aerial ability like Giroud, but it seems that he is destined to become the forgotten man at the Emirates and has only been given one cameo role in the Capital One Cup this season.

Paris Saint-Germain returned to the top of Ligue 1 with a fortunate 1-0 win over Lille at the Parc des Princes tonight. Lille defender Aurelien Chedjou's second-half own goal earned Carlo Ancelotti's men their ninth win in ten games and lifted them back above Lyon on goal difference.
Lille controversially had a first-half effort ruled out, and defeat left them languishing in mid-table.

Currently only 26 football stadiums have a capacity of 20,000 or more in France.
As the calendar year 2012 comes to an end and with French football all wrapped up for another year, it's unsurprising to see that "Zlatan Ibrahimović'sParis St. Germain" are the club that have topped the French charts during 2012.
It's quite interesting to note that the three promoted sides Bastia, Reims and Troyes haven't performed very strongly in the first half of the 2012/2013 season.

Then at 3pm ET, Liverpool plays Udinese, while Newcastle is home against Bordeaux.

Less than three days after their Thursday games in Europa League, Bordeaux and Lyon meet this afternoon, hoping for redemption.
Obviously, so early after a draining European game, physical shape is one key factor. People usually say that recovery is easier after a win; but, in this case, it's hard to say which of the two teams will have an advantage, as Bordeaux brought a lucky draw (1-1) back from Kiev, while Lyon bowed in extra time (2-1) in Tottenham after a performance that would have deserved a better outcome.
One of the three names that I mentioned in yesterday's post of potential incoming transfers was that of Yoan Gouffran. Gouffran who can play either as a striker or an attacking wide player today signed for Newcastle with the fee being undisclosed. A four and a half year deal was agreed, and the former Bordeaux [.
