It took Spain 40 years to rebuild their national team into a championship-winning force, so 55 minutes was never going to be too long to wait.� Still, that's how long they were kept at bay by Bora Milutinovic's limited but very well-organised Asian champions.

With ten men behind the ball throughout, Iraq stifled the Spanish attack to such a degree that, had it been an incarnation of the same side from a few years ago, one might have wondered an upset was on the cards.

Comenzó lo que yo llamo el Aperitivo del Mundial de Sudáfrica, la Copa Confederaciones que se lleva a cabo en éste mismo país, con un decepcionante 0-0 entre los anfitriones y la selección de Irak; un marcador que refleja perfectamente lo que fue el partido.

Si se va a tocar el tema de la convicción, los de Sudáfrica fueron los que se llevaron el partido en ese sentido, ya que fueron incuestionables sus ganas de triunfar y de agradar al público que se dio cita en el inmueble, pero la realidad es que su futbol está muy lejos de compararse un poco siquiera al resto de la competencia, al igual que los iraquíes, dirigidos por Bora Milutinovic, quienes solo se limitaron a esperar al rival y buscar algún contragolpe.

Me queda muy claro que lo que vi hoy en el partido de México contra Trinidad y Tobago no es producto de estas últimas semanas de la concentración del tricolor con Javier Aguirre como técnico.
Esto no es de que si Nery no le dio pases de gol a Guille Franco o que si Sabah no es el indicado para jugar en la selección, tampoco de que si el "Conejo" es demasiado viejo para vestir la verde, ni mucho menos que la culpa sea de Aguirre.
