"It is the dream for every top class footballer to play at a top class club and now I can do
that."
Welcome
Ladies and gentlemen, Fernando Torres is officially a Chelsea player. Can you believe it? I know
I can't. This whole day has been surreal.
Obviously this was the transfer that dominated the day, and it wasn't confirmed until the final
minutes of the window.
The future of Udinese's Chilean star, Alexis Sanchez still hangs in the balance as despite
recent strong indication that the player will ends up in Barcelona, things seems a little bit
confusing as the Bianconeri's president, Giampaolo Pozzo, still denies that a deal have been struck
with the Catalan.
Reporter Phil Collin filed this update for today's newspaper.
Phil also offered up these bonus quotes
Here's LD on the quality of this year's new pickups:
"The benefit of having guys like Chad (Barrett) and Adam (Cristman) and Juan Pablo
(Angel) and now Miguel (Lopez) is you have guys who can pull off plays on their own so you don't
have to depend on David (Beckham) making a killer pass or me pulling off a play.
All of a sudden, Spurs are being linked with a choice of defensive midfielders and after the
Jack Rodwell rumours of earlier this week, stories are emerging of the club's interest in Ajax's
Dutch international Vurnon Anita.
Anita was a product of the famous Ajax academy and made his first full appearance for the club
while still only 16.
Sylvain Marveux gave his first interview as a Newcastle United player today and seemed relatively
enthusiastic despite admitting that we weren't his first choice. A strong bonus to having Marveaux
around the club during our switch from "Newcastle United" to "Chateau Nouveau Unifie" is that he
speaks English particularly well, at one point even joking [.

On a day when the footballing world throws itself into a tizzy over transfers, loan deals,
medicals, and airport sightings, we would like to take this opportunity to break some news of our
own: Sylvie van der Vaart has a new hair 'do, y'all!
Sylvie was spotted with the new "long bob", as she's calling it, at a party for her friend and
stylist Danie Bles in The Netherlands yesterday.
Moving into midfield, there are several candidates for the honour of being Tottenham's player of
the year and for many supporters, the winner was always going to come from this category. Two of
the club's newest arrivals start us off.

At Christmas it would have been unthinkable that our young Brazilian would have been anywhere
near such an award.
Watching England's performances in the Euro Under 21 Championships has been a pretty dire
experience but there has been one stand out player within the ranks.
Kyle Walker has impressed fans and pundits alike and after his man of the match performance in
the opening game against Spain, England's next opponents Ukraine deployed two men to mark him.
While the chase for Turkey striker, Mevlut Erdinc, has certainly hit a barrier and been delayed,
it seems that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew still has some hope the striker will end up at
Newcastle. Mevlut Erdinc may still arrive at Newcastle Apparently the situation is that Newcastle
have been involved in a bonus row with [.
As we reported last weekend, it seems that Mevlut Erdinc's agent, Pierre Frelot, is the one
holding up the deal to bring the Turkish striker to Newcastle. Pierre Frelot - wants bonus from
Newcastle And new news today in the Sunday Sun, is that Erdinc has even agreed terms with
Newcastle, but the £7.

Like I said in a previous post, I got out my 2004/5 season DVD last night to cheer myself up and
watch a Chelsea side that new how to defend. On the bonus DVD there is an interview with Jose
Mourinho at the end of that season, looking back at some of the headlines and comments from the
press also.
One particular moment in that interview struck a chord with me when Chelsea TV's Gigi Salmon asked
him about the negative press the side was getting for winning games 1-0 and not having a lot of
flair.
I am not only a football fan but I also enjoy reading a good magazine and looking at beautiful
women. You can do that also in this month's edition of FHM, featuring Nicole Scherzinger. Yeah, I'm
sure you know her, but you can also find a lot of other great articles. Find out more about that

Today, in the Copa Centroamericana (one of approximately 80 international tournaments currently
in progress around the world), the 5th place match was won by Guatemala over Nicaragua. Why, you
may ask, should those outside of one of those two countries pay any mind at all to that fact? The
answer is that 5th place in that particular Copa came with a bonus the final invite to the 2011
CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Having gone down to the second division just two years ago, one would think expectations
surrounding Corinthians to be rather modest. Like anything on a continental level is a bonus.
But having the names and the history and the need to make up for that little faux pas known as
the Brazilian Serie B, modesty is not on order.
We're back to one match per team next week and have some big clashes at the top as an added bonus.
Arsenal host Manchester United and Chelsea host Spurs. I generally go a bit overboard in
avoiding clashes at the top and given what I've seen from Arsenal at home and United on the road,
I'm pretty inclined to continue that pattern with that match.

(2010/11).
Sam Allardyce has been named West Ham boss after agreeing a two year contract
worth £3m, with a 7 figure bonus should he steer the relegated club back into the Premier League
next season.

Chiddy Bang have dropped a new, "swelly"-themed mixtape over at Illroots that may be the best thing
to come out of Philly since the Carlos Ruiz wondergoal goal from a few weeks back. If you like your
rap happy, clean-ish and peppered with liberal amounts of indie hooks I highly recommend copping
this now.
The primary target was 19 which was successfully won! Anything else would have merely been a

Inter's sporting director Marco Branca told BBC Sport that Inter have ruled out a move for
Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez:
"Tevez is a great player, a great character, but absolutely no. His salary means it is out of
the question. The market is crazy at the moment and it is hard to compete.
Defender Ali Krieger has taken the path less traveled to the U.S. Women's National Team, to say
the least. As the USA's only player who was based abroad in the run-up to the 2011 FIFA Women's
World Cup, she's lived quite an adventure since graduating from college. Read about Ali's German
adventure and about the amazing twists of fate that have resulted in her playing in a World Cup in
the country that is her second home.
Pat Noonan is sticking around
Seattle has re-signed him for the rest of 2011, presumably for not all that much money.
As a bonus, here is a Pat Noonan fun fact: Noonan has 4 goals and 4 assists in MLS play over the
past 4 years, a span of 46 games.
Ligue 1 kicked off with a belter and some sort of facial malady. (0:50)

As we wait patiently or otherwise for any concrete news regarding new arrivals at the Lane ahead
of the 2011-12 season, the focus for the club's website is on our existing squad.
Many supporters are expecting this to be a breakthrough season for Kyle Walker and the player is
looking to become a regular both for Spurs and for England.

Why you shouldn't be tempted to bet on Swansea against City
Fancy a crazy long-shot bet? Well, Swansea are 12-1 to beat Manchester City at the Etihad
Stadium tomorrow night. The odds are generous because Brendan Rodgers' side lost 11 away
games in the Championship last season.
Not that there was ever any doubt, but we can finally tell you not that you don't already know
that Romelu Lukaku is officially a Chelsea player. Most triumphant.
Lukaku signed a five-year contract with the club, and will, as was reported yesterday, wear the
No. 18 shirt.

In which Arsene Wenger breaks out a few of his finest flourishes during a couple of Arsenal
training sessions from earlier in the week...
And just because we've got nowhere else to put it, here's a bonus clip of Chelsea young'n Josh
McEachran pulling off a classy little flick during England U21 training yesterday.
Well, more 'fan attacks', really. Steaua Bucharest defender George Galamaz, busy doing the
outrageous thing of living. And then came the fan and chaos soon ensued. A flare not the guy
committing assault on another human being permanently ended the match later on.
And don't forget the bonus of Gigi Becali yelling in a language you probably don't
understand.
Urban Meyer has officially been introduced as the new coach of Ohio State football. That isn't
very newsworthy since it's been obvious for days that he was going to take the job. However, what
is newsworthy are his contract details.
- Here are some of the details and incentives included in his contract:
- Urban Meyer gets $4 million per season guaranteed for six seasons.

This photograph does not meet Kickette quality control standards. However, we examined it
thoroughly and decided that posting it would fulfill certain other 'personal' requirements for our
readership, with the potential bonus of encouraging other players to take (sharper) nudey photos of
their team-mates and post them on Twitter.
I couldn't resist the geeky Star Trek reference, I'm afraid! As the Reds travelled to East Anglia I
was confined to my laptop with an illicit but good quality stream of the match, which is always a
bonus when you can't make the trip in person. A team selection out of left-field from Billy
delivered the goods as Forest battled out a perhaps at least marginally fortunate win [.
More giantkilling! FA Cup third round weekend got a bit of Monday night bonus giant-slaying as
Championship side Derby County were knocked out of the competition by non-league Crawley Town.
Sergio Torres grabbed a late winner for Blue Square Premier outfit with his side-footed effort from
the edge of the penalty area.
The second half of the season is about to begin, we have our eyes set on that first game against
Lorient, but there are a couple of interesting things that have been said or done around the club
lately.
Here's a quick roundup:

Liverpool:
Team sheet when it's released.
Ahead of kick off I said the most important thing today, the necessity, was to secure the point
that would take us back to the top of the league. Spurs are a good side and to get a draw at their
place has to be considered a good result and a win would be a bonus.
When Rafael was sent off with 17 minutes of normal time remaining, a point was looking better
than ever, so credit to our lads for not doing what Spurs do when a decision goes against them.
