Don't think you were alone if you went into the half shaking your head and wondering how United
were 2 0 up. Some combination of luck, Boskovic free kicks, and Hamid's reflexes opened a margin
that didn't seem so pronounced on the field, particularly after the Guy injury forced Heaps to move
Feilhaber inside where he belongs.
About a week ago I got the chance to talk all things Ruben Luna with Ruben Luna. Naturally not
everything fit the story, so the tastiest leftovers from "Home Grown: Ruben Luna" are all yours. I
also included some bonus quotes from his U12-U16 coach, Darrin Hedges who now coaches FC Dallas's
women's team.

There is good news and bad news in the Spurs defence for tomorrow as Younes Kaboul looks set to
return while BAE misses out for the rest of the season.
"Younes is okay, he trained well today, so that's a big bonus for us," reported Harry "Ade also
trained and he's fit as well."
Adebayor is said to have had a hamstring injury for the QPR game and whether that is true or
not, Harry's comments seem to suggest that the Togolese will come back in.

Huzzah! Jordi Cruyff's dad is 65 today. To celebrate, here's some Cruyfftastic vintage photos of
him in his snake-hipped, flaxen-haired pomp (plus a couple thrown in of him just as he was
beginning to move out of it!)...

In which, during what may or may not be an Iranian third division game, we're treated to your
classic stretcher mishap, i.e, one of the chumps ferrying an injured player from the pitch trips
and drops the poor crock in question on his arse.
Only, in another added bonus coating of FAIL, the butter-fingered stretcher-bearer rolls his
ankle while stumbling and is left writhing on the dog shelf until a third physio comes to his aid
and helps him limp back to the bench.

Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed the form of Antonio Valencia since his return from injury. In the
16 starts and 20 overall appearances, he has scored 4 goals and assisted 12.
"What can I say about his form? He's been unbelievable," said Ferguson. "When he
first came back into the fold after his long-term injury I played him at right-back one or two
times with Nani in the forward position.
Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that Phil Jones will be Manchester United's captain one day.
"He's definitely a future captain," said Ferguson. "There's no doubt about that. I
said that from the minute he came to us that I thought there was something about the boy. He was
doing great until he started getting all these injuries and a bit of illness with 'flu.

Going to the Emirates on our pilgrimage to our spiritual home of football is a long journey for
us. But having the sun shining continuously from the early hours in Antwerp till the moment we left
London was a very welcomed bonus. I remember April games when we almost froze out of [.
The war of words between Spurs and Arsenal has escalated again over the last few days and chief
culprit is Wojciech Szczesny who seems more concerned about finishing above Tottenham than his
club's own position.

I'm not going to do a big reaction post on the US victory over Italy, just a couple of notes prior
to the United game...
* The US were fortunate that Italy (and the linesmen) were not terribly accurate when it
counted.
* Fabian Johnson looked a credible left back going forward.
I think we have all read the comment and speculation that surrounds AVB and his job as Chelsea
manager. With him openly admitting for the first time that he doesn't know if he will remain as
manager or if Roman Abramovich will sack him you can imagine the press will now move into
overdrive.
I have said that I am surprised he is still here after also admitting that he hasn't made any
progress.
Jay Heaps and his New England Revolution will finally get their first real preseason test on
Wednesday in Tucson, Ariz., when they kick-off the FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup against the
defending MLS Cup Champions Los Angeles Galaxy.
Heaps is hoping for positive results from his team, the most important aspect of the preseason
tournament is getting his squad ready for the start of the MLS season on March 10th.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 37 goal in 36 matches and proved that he can put the ball in the
net pretty much however he likes in Real Madrid's match against Ray Vallecano on Sunday. Ronaldo
chased down the ball as it rolled around the box after Mesut Ozil fired in a corner and though he
was running away from the goal, Ronaldo then took a big wind-up and kicked his leg backwards,
sending the ball trickling past a handful of frozen defenders, teammates and the goalkeeper.

Are players getting a little big for their attractively coloured boots, Kickettes?
The reason we ask is that it's becoming increasingly difficult to ignore the various examples of
players asserting themselves at the expense of their clubs lately.
Listen, regular readers will know when it comes to Didier Drogba, his form is up and down and as a
result my opinion of him has changed from a few seasons ago. Back then, Drogba was THE number one
at our club, played well on a consistent basis and became the scourge of defences all over Europe.
Gary Cahill made his long awaited debut for
Chelsea against United last Sunday and I thought
he did well and looked calm and composed. OK there is an argument that he was part of a defence
that conceded three goals but two of them were penalties and you he is in no way at fault for the
Hernandez header.
1. It's a strange one to take, I think if you had asked me before hand I would have said that it
was important Chelsea didn't lose the game. Saying that, to play well for the first ten minutes of
the second half and find ourselves 3-0 up was a bonus!. To throw it all away is tough to take.

It seems the Tories simply can't get involved with altering contracts...it would be utterly
unthinkable for then to intervene in RBS boss Stephen Hester's bonus. This is definitely a tricky
one but the bottom line is that that bank is just not performing.
The interesting point for me is that whilst the Conservatives hold contracts in the financial
services sacred they just take it as a given they can totally rip-up the contracts of all those

Jim Irsay, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts, is getting ready to kick Peyton Manning to the
curb. It's obvious to anyone who has been paying attention. And while I don't have a problem with
that, I do have a problem with the way Irsay is handling it.
Instead of giving Manning and heart-felt send off, Irsay is instead running Manning's name
through the mud.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp set-up a secret offshore 'bung' account named after his pet dog, a
court heard yesterday. Redknapp was said to have received "bungs or offshore bonuses" from former
Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric during his time at Fratton Park. The payments were allegedly
received into a bank account in Monaco.
The Home Internationals Soccer Tournament, 1946-84, A Complete Record by Gary Watton is
a match-by-match record of this annual tournament, once played amongst the four national teams of
the United Kingdom - England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Each match gets its own page
and the details include lineup (interestingly including which club the player played for at the
time, a great touch), scorers, and a brief summary to give it context.

A tale of absent friends made this cup tie somewhat less of an occasion than it could otherwise

If there's a better way to celebrate your birthday than with a trip to Cowdenbeath's Central Park

Obviously seeing your team winning on said trip would be something of a bonus but that's in the

Martinez and Dalglish agree – there's more to Liverpool than Suarez
THE FESTIVE fixture list continues for Liverpool tomorrow night at the DW Stadium when Kenny

at his disposal but there won't be a return – for now at least – for Steven Gerrard.
Liverpool striker Andy Carroll to pick up £150,000 loyalty bonus report

Last January Liverpool paid 35 million pounds to Newcastle for striker Andy Carroll and 13 starts
later that its not looking like the greatest purchase ever. Despite his struggles Carroll is set
pocket £150k bonus from Liverpool, according to the Daily Mail. Not bad for a guy who has only
scored four times for the reds.

readership, with the potential bonus of encouraging other players to take (sharper) nudey photos of
their team-mates and post them on Twitter.
