It mustn't have been much fun growing up with the name "Pratley". Kids can be so cruel etc etc.
However, on Saturday against Man City, the Bolton midfielder almost lived up to his unfortunate
moniker after bizarrely firing in a 25-yard effort on his own goal, only for the ball to cannon
back off the crossbar.
Papiss Cisse: My Signing of the Season! - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
For me, Newcastle's number nine has been the best transfer for not just this season, but the
past few years.
Yesterday evening, Cisse produced two goals of the highest quality to keep Newcastle United
firmly in contention for a place in the Premier League's top four with victory at Chelsea.
The January 2011 transfer window was a blockbuster one as Premier League teams spent over £210
MILLION on transfers. Amongst the big spenders were Chelsea (David Luiz £21.4m, Fernando Torres
£50m), Liverpool (Andy Carroll £35m, Luis Suarez £22.8m) and Aston Villa (Darren Bent £18m,
Jean Makoun £6m).

We weren't sure whether we could love Timmy Howard any more. Just to recap, we know that he
looks like this naked and is clearly an 'all-round top bloke' if our recent convo with
him was anything to go by. But his response to scoring a wind-assisted wonder goal vs.
Bye bye Timmy?Good morning! With MLS preseason training beginning in just three weeks and
the MLS Combine complete, there should be a lot of player movement and a ton of new signings
announced in the coming days. The 2012 MLS SuperDraft kicks off tomorrow, and though the New York
Red Bulls only have one selection (the 31st overall pick in round two), it's not inconceivable that
we could see a trade or two happen while the general managers and coaches are assembled in Kansas
City.

If Brad Guzan retains his spot in Aston Villa's starting lineup this weekend, we are in for a
treat.
Guzan and the Villans host Landon Donovan, Tim Howard and Everton on Saturday in arguably the
biggest match-up involving Americans this weekend.
It's been a blustery day across the UK and nobody has taken advantage of that better than Everton
keeper Tim Howard. The USA international opened the scoring against Bolton in this evening's
encounter with this wind-assisted effort. The Trotters' reserve keeper Adam Bogdan was the man
beaten by his fellow member of the goalkeeping union.
On day three of cleaning out my garage, I found a pleasant surprise in a 1962 collection of 25
cards entitled "Football Clubs and Badges" from a company named Lamberts Of Norwich. The cards were
included in packets of tea ...

The Bolton Wanderers are desperate to avoid relegation this season, and they are hitting the
Major League Soccer talent pool hard to try and avoid the drop.
With Tim Ream already lined up for a move to Bolton (upon receipt of a UK work permit), the
Trotters are now preparing a transfer move for Philadelphia Union star Sebastien LeToux.
So Long Timmy! The long-running transfer saga involving New York Red Bulls central defender
Tim Ream appears to have finally come to an end this afternoon, with the BBC reporting that Bolton
Wanderers have secured a UK work permit. There had been considerable doubt about Ream's
qualifications for a visa, as he had only played in a total of two competitive fixtures for the US
Men's National Team.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish has kept his powder dry in the current transfer window, despite admitting
that he has money to spend if he so chooses.
But his side's recent poor performances are thought to have given the Scot pause for thought.

Days after his head coach cited a lack of progress as a reason for his benching, Jozy Altidore
responded in a big way.
In his first start for AZ Alkmaar in 2012, Altidore bagged a brace in the club's 3-3 draw with
Heerenveen. Altidore scored the game's opener when he received the ball with his back to goal,
turned and fired a shot to the near post.

That's how we all feel mate...If i walked into a club, thinking
and acting like i was better than everybody else, i'd most probably, within an hour and a half or
so, get battered. Which is exactly what happened to Liverpool on Saturday. They walked into
Bolton's club, acting like they were better than them, like the three points were theirs before
they'd kicked a ball and then, they were battered.
Confirming earlier reports, Major League Soccer announced on Thursday that New York Red Bulls
defender Tim Ream has completed his move to Bolton Wanderers in the English Premier League. Ream
received a work permit earlier this week. Per MLS policy, the financial terms of the deal are not
made public.
Sebastien Le Toux will not move to Bolton Wanderers, of the English Premier League, signaling
that his time in MLS has not yet ended. However, the Philadelphia Union may not be the club with
which Le Toux starts the 2012 MLS season.
A source close to the situation tells the Brotherly Game that the Vancouver Whitecaps have
inquired about Le Toux and have emerged as a candidate for a trade.
The saga is finally over, but it unfortunately is not the result that Philadelphia Union fans
were hoping it to be.
Sebastien Le Toux's trade to the Vancouver Whitecaps is now official, a source close to the
situation told the Brotherly Game. The source did not know of the details of what the trade would
involve, other than Le Toux heading to Canada.
Bolton Wanderers 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park this week has handed Owen Coyle's
side a Premier League lifeline whilst also ensuring that the Villa boss, Alex McLeish, will have a
few sleepless nights over the next couple of weeks as his team become inexorably dragged into the
relegation fight.
Forty-four years ago, Manchester City broke their record transfer fee and splashed out £60,000
on Francis Lee from Bolton Wanderers. Several months later, they celebrated their first English
championship for thirty-one years. At the start of this season, they broke that transfer record
again and it was the man whose arrival at The City of Manchester Stadium did this, the £38m Sergio
Aguero, who scored an almost inconceivable goal three minutes into stoppage-time to bring the title
back to the club on an afternoon of emotional extremes which encapsulated why we love and loathe
this beautiful, extraordinary, sanity-testing game.

As I understand it, the salient bullet points are as follows: Chelsea want to buy Gary Cahill
for £7 million; Bolton want to sell Gary Cahill for £7 million, Gary Cahill wants to join
Chelsea; Gary Cahill's agent asked for £120,000-a-week wages (presumably on the basis he scores
more often than Fernando Torres); Chelsea aren't stupid.

The frustrating Tottenham career of Giovani do Santos could finally be coming to an end in this
transfer window with reports of interest from Spain and from Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle. Gio
hinted at his potential again this month, albeit against Cheltenham, and after the game manager
Harry Redknapp hailed his talent while giving an insight into why the player has barely featured at

Why United, City and Liverpool should get three points this weekend - originally posted on

With United traveling to Arsenal and Tottenham going north to Manchester City, there's a lot to
look forward to this week.
Here's a look at the top betting tips and the best matches this weekend.
Liverpool's 3-1 defeat over Bolton Wanderers, apparently gave more than just disappointment for
the club's manager, Kenny Dalglish, as he was also infuriated with his player's poor performance
and threatened to get rid of those who can't improve their performance.
Dalglish was so furious that he doesn't really want to give much credit for his opponent as he
really felt that it was the Reds' poor performance which cause that defeat.
Tim Ream's time in MLS has come to a close.
After spending the first two years of his professional career with the New York Red Bulls, Ream
is set to sign with Bolton Wanderers after being granted a work permit on Monday. Ream will join
Bolton on a transfer worth an estimated $3 million, the highest amound ever paid for an MLS
defender.
The Philadelphia Union have tried to stay away from off-the-field controversy since the
franchise was created, but a soon-to-be new signing will prevent the club from keeping its
completely family friendly facade.
Lionardo Pajoy was revealed to be the Union's next acquisition today, when Kerith Gabriel wrote
that a source informed him of the Colombian striker's move to Philadelphia.
Sebastien Le Toux's return to Philadelphia truly does appear to be simply a chance to pack his
belongings, as the striker's transfer to Bolton Wanderers is set to be completed in the next two
days.
MLSsoccer.com's Joe Prince-Wright told TalkSport UK, in an interview, that the Frenchman was
"gonna finalize his contract tomorrow with Bolton.

Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey have shared plenty of moments throughout their careers as the
top two attacking threats of the U.S. men's national team, but they will not be celebrating
together on Friday.
The two American stars are set to face off for the first time since 2006 when Everton and Fulham
do battle in the fourth round of the FA Cup (3pm, Fox Soccer Channel).
Sebastien Le Toux's return to the Philadelphia area has taken another turn, as yet another media
outlet reports of a development concerning his possible transfer across the pond.
English sports news site Sporting Life reports that Le Toux did not impress enough to warrant
Bolton Wanderers pursuing a transfer.
Aston Villa will be the host team of yet another Philadelphia Union player on trial, according
to soccer agent Richard Motzkin.
Former first overall SuperDraft pick Danny Mwanga will train with Aston Villa, of the English
Premier League, for ten days. Mwanga joins Freddy Adu (Rayo Vallecano), Michael Farfan
(Sunderland), Zac MacMath (Everton), Amobi Okugo (SC Freiburg), Sebastien Le Toux (Bolton
Wanderers) and Zach Pfeffer (Hoffenheim) as members of the Union that have spent time training with
overseas clubs prior to the 2012 MLS season.

Bolton Wanderers 0-0 Arsenal Premier League 1st February 2012
Arsenal match reports are starting to write themselves loads of possession, nice passing, loads
of chances, no goals. More often than not you can even tag "concede late goal from set-piece" onto
the end of that, although on this occasion, the Gunners did manage to go off-script and keep their
sheet clean for the night.
