The Premier League weekend is likely to be overshadowed by Jose Mourinho's exit (dismissal) from
Chelsea, something that has also overshadowed the minor injury crisis at Liverpool as Daniel Agger
and Xabi Alonso are out for 6 weeks following metatarsal injuries. No chance to breath though, as
we've got some exciting close fixtures, 2 one-sided [...
Uefa maintain that they'll leave the Grant situation for the Premier League to solve - a polite way
of telling the English to firm up and police themselves. While the Premier League scrambles to find
its pair of strap-ons (balls!), there are some juicy matchups taking place this weekend. As always,
you can make your [...]
Well, It's finally surfaced. Here's video of Danny's first goal for Bolton versus Fulham in their
Carling Cup match from earlier this week. Unfortunately, the quality's not that great and there's
no replay, but from what you can see, it's quite the stunner. It's the first goal on the video.
Cheers.
With Sven winner of August's manager of the month award and Micah Richards receiving the player of
the month gong, I thought it might be interesting to try to build a complete ‘team of the first
month and a half'. Many questions arise when considering such a team: should it just be a
collection of [...]
The top 12 are separated by 3 points, the top 4 are on 10 points and theoretically speaking,
Manchester United are only, at most, 5 games off the pace while Chelsea are 3 points off. However,
Liverpool are top on goal difference (courtesy of Derby) followed by Arsenal and then Everton, and
for these teams, [...]
Back from international week and the Premier League is raring to go with Liverpool, Everton,
Chelsea and Arsenal all on 10 points and all teams looking to increase their lead at the top of the
table. As usual, we've got the weekend predictions and previews - you can also make your own
predictions by copying [...]
I'm not able to watch this match and quite frankly watching Barcelona-Zaragoza seemed like a better
idea and probably was since three great goals, two by Messi have been scored, but anyhow our
out-on-loan midfielder, Danny Guthrie, has scored his first goal for Bolton at Fulham. More on this
and hopefully the video later. Cheers.
The Carling Cup 3rd Round draw was announced today, and it threw up some interesting matchups:
Blackburn v Birmingham Reading v Liverpool Manchester United v Coventry Tottenham v Middlesbrough
Hull v Chelsea Blackpool v Southend West Ham v Plymouth Arsenal v Newcastle Luton v Charlton
Manchester City v Norwich Sheffield United v Morecambe Sheffield Wednesday v Everton Fulham v
Bolton Burnley v Portsmouth Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest or [.
Who will take up the gauntlet laid down by Sevilla's progression to the Champions League? And which
clubs will be considered UEFA Cup favourites out of the first-round participants (i.e. not the
Champions League dropouts)? The first batch of UEFA Cup matches takes place this evening, with the
competition as strong as ever, although it will [...]
The Premiership table aside, the three worst teams in the
Premiership so far this season are Derby County, Bolton
Wanderers and Birmingham City.
Far and away the worst has been Derby. They are a decent side but don't seem up to
the pace and pressure of the Premiership.
Despite the well-documented tension at Stamford Bridge and the countless speculation, no one
actually expected Jose Mourinho to be the first managerial casualty in the Premier League. It just
goes on to prove the unpredictable nature of football, although it's probably just a symptom of
rich owners getting itchy. In light of Mourinho's surprise exit, [.
