Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie has claimed that his teammates outplayed Blackburn in
Saturday's 4-3 defeat and he is still shocked that Steve Kean's struggling outfit was able to score
four times.
Although the Dutchman acknowledged the need to stop conceding soft goals in order to rebound
quickly from a third defeat in only five Premier League matches, he reminded the Rovers that they
were fortunate to emerge as the winning side at Ewood Park.

In theory when you're a journalist you don't root for teams and therefore all you're looking for is
an angle, something interesting to write about that will get people to buy your newspaper, click on
your link, or head to the Facebook page to make some pithy comments about your genius idiocy. As
much as we'd all like to believe that our journalists stick to this standard (because they tell us
This will be a battle between teams placed 17th and 19th with the two leakiest defences in the
League. Bolton have shipped just one less goal than Arsenal's 14. Neither team is on a particularly
good run either and both have a Cup result to blame, at least partially. Arsenal have been
unrecognizable since the Carling Cup loss while Bolton haven't been able to recover from the 5-0
hammering they got from Stoke in the FA Cup semi-final.

Well it was high time Arsenal put together a full match and capped it off with a win and a clean
sheet. With all of the problems of that last few months, to most Gooners ...

Wayne Rooney scores his second hat-trick in as many matches, as United gave

Is It Time To Bench Jamie Carragher? - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Carragher without a doubt has been one of the most reliable and consistent players for Liverpool
over the past decade. The veteran defender even now is brilliant with his abilities, however the
major concern is that with his age the errors are increasing as well.
Fans finally voting with their feet.. Silent Stan nowhere to be seen.. Just what is
going on at Arsenal?
Arsenal fans are voting with their feet for the first time during Arsene Wenger's 15-year reign.
Tickets for a Premier League match are on general sale for the Bolton game on Saturday week.
After initially attributing Arsenal's shocking 4-3 defeat at Blackburn to fatigue and a stroke
of misfortune, Arsene Wenger has finally broken his silence on what he thinks has led to the club's
worst start in 58 years.
The Gunners have managed only four points from 15 in their opening five fixtures and their
latest setback at Ewood Park caused many to wonder precisely what it is that continues to cause
issues at the Emirates Stadium despite a host of major signings bolstering the squad at the
transfer deadline day.
Check it out about 25 seconds in. Fantastic stuff.
I trust this is the platform that leads to many, many more highlights such as this one for the
young Frenchman. Give him some more minutes, Owen. Come on. Do it.

Arsenal in a relegation six pointer? Whatever next? Soon they'll be telling us that Einstein's
Theory of Relativity and the laws of physics are all wrong. You've got to love the unpredictability
of the Premier League early in the season, when clubs leap up, and tumble down the table as quick
as subatomic particles in the Cern laboratory.

Never mind continuing his goal streak, I'll be happy be a defensive performance
There's only so many times one team can restart a season, which is why I won't even go into this
thinking that this is where it begins for us again. We are now in 17th position in the league. Our
next opponent, Bolton is 19th.

It is highly likely that the media focus on this game will centre upon Gary Cahill. No doubt he
is a good player (though he was crap against MU) but the interest has little to do with his playing
ability and more to do with the conflict between the clubs off pitch. Should we be surprised that
Gartside decided to go public with the transfer negotiation and made a prat of himself?
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that he knows nothing about Theo Walcott's freak injury
at the end of Arsenal's 3-0 win over Bolton.
The Gunners were on course for a major celebration as skipper Robin van Persie completed a
century of goals with an impressive brace and Alex Song struck late with a clinical finish.
Video highlights and reaction
So, that was a bit better, eh? The corner remains unturned, our backness on the track has yet to
be determined, but we needed a performance and a result to at least start the confidence trickling
back and we got that.
The only things worth talking about from the first half were a fantastic Szczesny save in the
early minutes (that's quite a nice habit he's developing, even if you do wish we wouldn't allow the
chances), a van Persie free kick curled just wide, and a Gervinho shot which whistled not far over
the bar.
Three goals. Three Points. Three Cheers.
Well, I am sitting here in a cabin at the smoky mountains and everyone with me is keen to move
out into the forest so I will keep this short.
I thought both teams started brightly. Bolton came with a plan to press Arsenal all over the
pitch, a plan that has worked for many teams, and a high-ball strategy (let me not call it long
ball) that almost reaped instant dividends.

Lot of talk in the press over the last two days about Frank Lampard reportedly walking away from
the bench when being an unused substitute in Saturday's 4-1 win over Swansea City.
Lampard has failed to make Andre Villas-Boas' starting line-up for three of the last four
matches. But the game against Swansea was the first time he has not come off the bench.
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has warned Olympiakos that breaking the Gunners' long-standing
unbeaten streak at home will be an uphill task for the Greek giants.
Arsene Wenger has led the Gunners through a brilliant spell during which they have gone
undefeated at home during the Group Stage since 2003 and Ramsey believes that the squad can take
tremendous confidence from playing at the Emirates.
Holden will undergo a routine follow-up operation on his kneeStuart Holden's comeback from injury will be delayed for a few weeks as the U.S. midfielder
undergoes a routine follow-up surgery on his knee. The operation was originally scheduled for next
summer but Bolton has decided to move it up.

Kickette ladies and gentlemen, please join us in wishing Stu Holden a big ol' get well soon. The
Bolton and USMNT midfielder found out yesterday that he'll be sidelined for another six months on
top of the six months he's already missed due to a nasty knee injury.
Liverpool is confident defender Martin Kelly will make a quick recovery from his hamstring
injury.
The 21-year-old, who missed the end of last season due to a similar fitness problem, was forced off
after half-an-hour of last weekend's win over Bolton at Anfield.
But first-team coach Steve Clarke is optimistic Kelly will soon be back in action, which could
suggest he may return for the trip to Stoke after the international break on 10th September.

Well the transfer window closed last night and unlike windows of the past, Arsenal were doing
business all the way until it slammed shut. Four players were confirmed last night as having
signed, with Park announced the day before. It was clear from the start of the season that Wenger
had to act to change our fortunes and only time will tell if Le Professor has bought correctly.
There were some major winners and losers yesterday as the Premier League transfer window closed.
Here's a quick summary and some Fantasy Premier League predictions/analysis to go with it: Bolton
won as they managed to hold on to Gary Cahill ... Continue reading →
Jordan Henderson crowned a fine display as captain with a peach of a goal as England beat
Azerbijan's under 21's 6-0 at Vicarage road, Watford.
Following on from his goal against Bolton last weekend, the Liverpool youngster produced another
fine perfomance on the field to silence the doubters somewhat and to give hope to Liverpool
supporters that he really worth the £16 million Kenny Dalglish and FSG paid out for him.
At the end of last season it seemed that Niko Kranjcar's time at Spurs was at an end. After
winning goals against Bolton and Sunderland he was consigned, in the main, to the subs' bench and
after highlighting his lack of first team action, it seemed almost certain that he would be moving
on.
The Premier League have published the full list of 25-man squads for the first half of the
2011/12 season and there were no surprises from Aston Villa, naming 23 players.
Teams are required to name up to a maximum of 25 players aged over 21 and are not allowed to
include more than 17 players who do not qualify as "home grown".
Why Stoke are the window's big winners and Bolton the big losers, plus Arteta, Bellamy
and why I fear for Wales at Wembley
Stoke are the big winners of the transfer window, Bolton the big losers. Gary Cahill can now
leave the Reebok on a Bosman next summer, so holding out for £17million will hurt Bolton,
especially with their big debt.

Everton's troubles continue as they were only able to name 18 players, seven short of the
maximum, in their official squad submitted to the Premier League.
However, that 18 does not include Under-21 players, so the likes of Ross Barkley do not feature
but are still eligible to play as clubs can use an unlimited number of younger-age players.
