Some football fans constantly have their heads in the clouds. Dreaming of European glory and
talking up the team when all else can quite clearly see, their side are distinctly average. We all
know 'em, but some sides are more guilty than others. Now, for pub ammo and abuse, we have some
proof! Littlewoods Football Pools (www.footballpools.com) has just produced the new ‘Football
Fan-tasy' report which reveals which football fans live in the biggest world of fantasy.
Well, It's finally surfaced. Here's video of Danny's first goal for Bolton versus Fulham in their
Carling Cup match from earlier this week. Unfortunately, the quality's not that great and there's
no replay, but from what you can see, it's quite the stunner. It's the first goal on the video.
Cheers.
As I mentioned last week, we're going to take a look at the UEFA Cup, this companion competition to
the Champions League. The UEFA Cup evolved from the old Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, which was founded
in 1955, two weeks after the founding of the European Champion Clubs' Cup.
The original tournament lasted three years, with matches timed to coincide with trade fairs and
involved teams from Barcelona, Basle, Birmingham, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Lausanne, Leipzig, London,
Milan and Zagreb.

1. Jon Dahl Tomasson's aesthetically pleasing cross-box chip in Villareal's 4-1 thumping of FC
BATE.
2. Petter Andersson's simply nasty bullet strike for Hammarby versus Braga.
3. Andriy Arshavin's cracker from outside of the box for Zenit against Standard Liege.
4.
Arsenal 5-0 Derby Emmanuel Adebayor scored a hat-trick and Cesc Fabregas stole the
show as the Gunners hit top gear. Fulham 3-3 Manchester City Danny Murphy's late
goal secured a point for Fulham in this pulsating encounter. Liverpool 0-0 Birmingham
City The Rafalution seems to have stalled a little as the Blues held the Red to a goalless
draw.
I'm not able to watch this match and quite frankly watching Barcelona-Zaragoza seemed like a better
idea and probably was since three great goals, two by Messi have been scored, but anyhow our
out-on-loan midfielder, Danny Guthrie, has scored his first goal for Bolton at Fulham. More on this
and hopefully the video later. Cheers.
I guess I spoke too soon. You may recall earlier in the week when Big Sam Allardyce put in his two
cents regarding Rafa's rotation policy, particularly his decision not to start Gerrard and Torres
against Portsmouth last Saturday. That was of course before his Newcastle side went into Pride Park
Stadium and lost relegation candidates Derby County, 1-0.
French fast-food chain Quick has launched its Anelka burger in honour of Bolton's sulky striker
Nicolas. The burger comes with a hint of pepper, apparently. If it is anything like its patron, you
would imagine the burger fills a gap at first but leaves you with a sour taste in your mouth and a
lot of bellyache.
Hull City fans must be pinching themselves as they prepare themselves for the delights of Jay Jay
Okocha. Okocha, still only 34, watched Hull's defeat at Blackpool and has agreed a two-year deal
with the Tigers according to BBCSport. "I think he is the sort of player who will give us the
creativity we need in midfield," said manager Phil Brown.
As a Bolton fan, my worst fears about Sammy Lee are coming true. Pre-season saw me, as usual,
worried about relegation (mixed with wild optimism). It would seem that I'm not alone in my pain as
Bolton Wanderers languish at the foot of the Premier League without a decent performance to their
name. Read over for the thoughts of the fans. Over at The Wanderer, they opine "In the world of the
warrior, seppuku was a deed of bravery that was admirable in a samurai who knew he was defeated,
disgraced, or mortally wounded.
- Due to protest from Wigan manager Chris Hutchings, the referee for our match on Saturday has been
switched from Steve Bennett to Mark Clattenburg. Hutchings' ground for protest was Bennett's
sending off of Kilbane for apparently no reason whatsoever in the Lactics tie at Newcastle on the
first of this month. Though he has yet to receive any punishment for what has been deemed an
'incorrect decision', it was thought best that Bennett not be in charge of this upcoming fixture.
Poor old Martin Jol. A defeat to Arsenal sees his job (allegedly) dangling by a spindly thread. A
poor start to the season and a battered Spurs cheque book has seen the big Dutchman coming under
severe scrutiny from certain quarters. Even though there is no better option for Tottenham at the
moment and Jol clearly doesn't deserve the boot, it looks like his days could be numbered.
