Erlan Mealla's Bolivian wondergoal
If you knew who Erlan Mealla was before seeing this, well, I simply don't believe you. The words
"must see" have lost their meaning over the years, but this is must see for anyone that can
appreciate a tremendous goal. It comes from the Bolivian Campeonato Clausura, and Erlan, a
23-year-old Nacional Potosi striker, scored a 20-yard scorpion kick that ended up being the
match-winner against their opponents who go by "The Strongest" No, really.
Every football fanatic would love to get their hands on one of these youth player cards
especially that belonging to a player/legend. While clubs usually authorize these
official cards to be placed in their own museums (Real Madrid, for example, has a fascinating range
of cards belonging to their present and former 'greats' at the Bernabeu), Lionel
Messi's own had never been revealed.
Last night the Rapids held a Supporters Forum at Fado's in Lodo. I was unable to attend, but the
big news that came out of the forum was that Colorado is pursuing a young #10-style Argentine
midfielder. No details have been leaked on his name or his background but there may be a new
arrival from South America in Commerce City soon.
