Ireland's hopes were dashed after the equalizer by William Gallas. Before crossing the ball Thierry
Henry was seen to handle the ball twice which was not observed by the sideline officials and
resulted in the equalizer.
The interview Henry gave to French sports paper L'Equipe has finally surfaced
in the English media. I've posted the interesting excerpts below. Highlights include

FIFA for a replay match for the World Cup qualification after the controversial incident of Thierry
Henry handling the ball in the Irish penalty zone before passing the ball to teammate William
Gallas who headed home.
Ireland has failed in its bid to have their World Cup play-off against France replayed, the
Football Association of Ireland recognised in a statement issued on Saturday. Ireland had appealed
to football's world governing body FIFA and to the French Football Federation (FFF) to have the
second leg of the play-off .
