Argentinos Juniors and the "Hand of Dan". Argentina has been well documented at EFW as a
footballing utopia. From the great football clubs of Boca Juniors and River Plate, their stadiums
of ‘La Bombonera' and ‘El Monumental', to players like Lionel Messi and Diego Armando Maradona.

Its a slow news day around these parts for me. What can I say I really don't care to talk about
the hundreds of players rumored to come to MLS during this transfer window. Just isn't my cup of
tea at the moment.
Instead I'm hitting the way-back machine for this one as Argentine club Boca Juniors is once
again going public with their hopes and dreams of owning a MLS club one day.
Martin Palermo experimenting with unusual methods of scoring goals: Wind assisted?
The Bombanera legend finally hangs up his boots as he plays his last match for Boca Juniors
against Banfield. Colombia declares a state mourning. But jokes aside, Martin Palermo was Boca
personified.
Sunday's biggest match in Argentina saw Martín Palermo a goal from a brilliant header in his final

The parallel between the start of the 2010/11 season for Liverpool Football Club was drastic,
immense and vast. Starting the season with a new manager who was completely unwanted by the
majority of supporters, who were still angry at losing fan favourite Rafael (Rafa) Benitez and
having seen club icon Kenny Dalglish been looked over by the clubs decision makers.
The world of one part of Argentina's top two clubs, Club Atletico River Plate (referred simply

Well, that was quite out of the blue. A few days ago, reports started fluttering through about
how Arsenal representative Richard Law had travelled to Costa Rica to thrash out a deal for
nineteen year-old striker Joel Campbell with Deportivo Saprissa. And just earlier today, Gunnerblog
revealed that Saprissa's President, Juan Carlos Rojas, has told a radio station of an ‘agreement
in principle' between the two clubs and a virtually completed transfer pending only on personal
terms.
After an extended period of speculation, it appears that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is
finally closing in on three of the club's main targets this summer.
Spanish winger Juan Manuel Mata, Belgian midfielder Eden Hazard, and Blackburn defender
Christopher Samba are all expected to be locked in negotiations over their proposed moves to the
Emirates in the coming days.
The second and last day of the Emirates Cup commenced today with PSG beating Boca Juniors 3-0.
That result meant that the Arsenal-New York Red Bulls match would produce this year's Emirates Cup
winner, with a win giving Arsenal the trophy and anything else handing the Cup to New York.
Arsenal lined up with a more first team-y formation than yesterday, with Wojo between the
sticks, TV5 and Koscielny in the center, Sagna and Gibbs on the flanks, Wilshere, Song and Ramsey
in midfield, Rosicky in a pseudo-Cesc role, and Gervinho and van Persie up front.
Fernando Gago might be on the verge of leaving Real Madrid as Boca Juniors have enlisted Gago in
their provisional list in the upcoming tournament of Apertura. The tournament starts within one

found life tough under [.
Liverpool face competition from Boca Juniors and Inter Milan in the race to sign Argentine
international midfielder Fernando Gago.
The Real Madrid defensive midfielder is one of a number of players thought to be available this
summer, with Jose Mourinho looking to sell players in order to free funds for more transfers at the
Santiago Bernabeu.
Map of birthplaces for players currently in La Liga (excluding Spain)
This is our second post in our series on the origins of players previously we looked at the
Premier League. La Liga is little different from the Premier League, both in terms of

policy to only sign players from the Basque region).

As much a staple in your Monday as cursing the alarm clock, but significantly less painful...Let's
just start with the MLS Goal of the Week nominees. I gotta go with Khari Stephenson, you all know
how I love those "don't wake him" crackers.Speaking of MLS, it's a real shame they never managed to
lure Boca Juniors free kick demon Juan Riquelme.
Thierry Henry is going back to the Emirates.
The former Arsenal striker and his New York Red Bulls teammates will participate in this

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has told Argentine Radio del Plata he
wants to quit the club, with his preferred destination his native Boca Juniors.
Tevez who scored a brace in City's 3-1 win at Stoke looked to have been waving good-bye to the City
faithful at full-time but manager Roberto Mancini told the awaiting press that Tevez had told him
he wanted to stay at City.

categoría a la inmediata inferior al finalizar la temporada. Generalmente un número igual de los
mejores clubes de la división siguiente es promovido, asciende, aunque la cantidad de equipos
ascendidos y descendidos puede diferir.

You do know this is the same guy most of you have been in awe of all year, right?
It's hard to find many cases more explicitly capturing the fickle nature of the neutral football

I have been to pre-season games before. I stood on the terraces at Underhill one July afternoon and
