Eddie Johnson got himself a full thirty-five minutes this weekend in Fulham's 0-0 draw with Everton
at Craven Cottage. Brought on for Zoltan Gera, Johnson's appearance was his third in the league and
fourth overall this season.
Johnson, for Johnson, played relatively well. His first touch was spotty, but passable on most
occasions.

In another life England goalkeeper Joe Hart would be a Scottish women's rugby
international. I see him as a burly, red-cheeked forward, and there's every chance he'd be related
to Colin Hendry Jo McHart, his sports-mad niece, perhaps?
So England's Euro 2012 Campaign kicks off on Friday against a (thankfully Berbatov less)
Bulgaria, and the main thing is...well the squad is decimated. Lampard and Terry had already
announced they couldn't take part (although some may have breathed a sigh of relief there), Bobby
Zamora is out just as he was beginning to look like a genuine first choice option, Phil Jagielka
has sat out of training, and Peter Crouch has gone home not being able to play after picking up a
rib injury against West Ham.
According to Colin Tattum at the Birmingham Mail, Birmingham boss Alex
McLeish admitted that he was interested in Fulham striker Bobby
Zamora and talked to the club privately to see if he could sign him. McLeish said,
"I never went back in for him officially, for Bobby .
Premier League football returns after the international break that saw it's usual spate of
injuries, outstanding performances and potential returns to form.
In the context of the title race it's still early but Chelsea and Arsenal have a relatively easy
game compared to Manchester United, while all English teams involved in Europe will also have an
eye on midweek's fixtures when they embark on their Champions League and Europa League group stage
games.
What a week of football
Manchester United again squandered two points from a winning situation, the Chelsea juggernaut
kept on rolling with a weak West Ham those to be steam rolled, Arsenal's passing and movement
proved too much for Owen ‘trying to play football' Coyle's Bolton.
Like most soccer fans, I am a soccer league polygamist. Because I live less than 20 minutes
from an MLS club, I root for and follow Major League Soccer in the U.S. However, I am also a
passionate Arsenal fan who lives and dies in every match they play throughout the year. And of
course, I love Serie A best of all and have my favorite club, whose scarf I wore proudly this past
Sunday.
I don't know if it was Bolton fans being sarcastic or irritated United supporters, but the cries
of "Where's Rio?" and chants of "Evans is rubbish!" boomed out loud and clear at half-time on
Sunday. It's one thing to be humiliated by Fernando Torres Nemanja Vidic, Fabio Cannavaro, Rafa
Marquez and Carlos Puyol can all take a number on that one but Bobby Zamora and Kevin Davies?
Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has said he is "pleased" to be at Sunderland after making a transfer
deadline day move, despite rumours Liverpool attempted to scupper the bid at the last minute.
Reds boss Roy Hodgson is known to have asked around about several strikers on deadline day -
including West Ham's Carlton Cole and Fulham's Bobby Zamora.
Hodgson made no secret of his desire to strengthen his frontline, but the expected last-minute
signing failed to materialise.
According to the News of the World, the Reds made a trio of £9 million bids as the end of the
transfer window approached, including one for Wolves striker Doyle.
They were told the Ireland international was not for sale at that price and received similar
responses from West Ham United about Carlton Cole and Fulham about Bobby Zamora.
Liverpool will swoop for Bayern Munich's out of favour striker Mario Gomez in the January transfer
window, according to News of the World.
Reds manager Roy Hodgson was unsuccessful in his bid to land a big-name striker as cover for
Fernando Torres during the summer transfer window, reportedly missing out on four attacking
targets.
According to Fulham's official website, Fulham striker Bobby
Zamora has signed a new four-year deal with the club that will keep him there until the
summer of 2014.

Fulham have announced that their rejuvenated target man Bobby Zamora has signed
a new four-year contract with the club.
A statement on the club's website was posted earlier today to confirm the news;
"We can confirm that Bobby Zamora has signed a new four year deal with the club, that will see
the striker remain at the Cottage until the summer of 2014.
Bobby Zamora has today put pen to paper on a new four-year-deal at Fulham. The forwards commitment
to stay at Craven Cottage demonstrates a massive coup for Fulham and Mark Hughes who had admitted
he had to fight to hang on to his star striker.
Zamora's career resembles a roller-coaster of highs and lows.
Good news, Fulham fans... Your beloved Bobby Zamora has settled on a four-year deal keeping
the English striker in a Fulham unifrom until 2014.
The 29 year-old forward's current contract was set to expire at the end of the season, and even
with the interests of other clubs, has agreed to new terms with Fulham.
The day after signing his new 4 year contract at Fulham, Bobby Zamora will now face a long spell
on the sidelines after breaking his ankle in a challenge with Wolves midfielder Karl Henry.
We wish the Fulham and England forward a speedy recovery.

Bobby Zamora's new four-year contract at Fulham is worth £50,000 a week as the Cottagers moved
to fend off interest from the striker's former boss at Craven Cottage Roy Hodgson, who is now
manager of Liverpool.

Meanwhile, the Merseysiders have given winger Ryan Babel until Christmas to prove his worth,
with Hodgson prepared to offload the Netherlands international in January if he does not convince
him otherwise.
If you're going to sell your soul it had better be worth it. Wolves got nothing, deserved
less, and hopefully will have much to ponder on what we must hope is a long, slow journey home.
If your entire game plan can be summed up by the words 'persistent fouling' then something's
missing. There was nothing to admire in anything they did today and I hope they get
relegated.
Have Fulham found a replacment already?
Just two days ago I wrote about Bobby Zamora singing a new contract at Fulham, but just typical
of the cruel luck that is often associated with the sport, the Fulham forward suffered a horrific
leg break in his very next game he played.
You can't help but feel the pain for the likeable Zamora.

The EPL Talk Podcast's review of the Premier League's fourth weekend will record at 10 p.m.
England-time (5 p.m. Eastern, 2p.m. Pacific). This weekend's Match of the Week – Everton's
comeback against Manchester United – will be high on the agenda, as will the performances from
Chelsea, Arsenal, and the rest of the League.
Watching the Fulham Wolves replay right now and I need to give Fulham a bit of love. Star Bobby
Zamora suffered a broken ankle in the 2-1 win and will be out for 4 months, so Hughes will rely ...

Fulham have confirmed that Bobby Zamora's operation to reset the broken fibula
he sustained against Wolves on Saturday has been a success, but the club have also revealed that
ligament damage was discovered during the procedure meaning the striker probably now faces nearer
five months on the sidelines, rather than the four that were initially diagnosed.
Before I started to think about my topic for the day, I was telling myself that I will not talk
about the dangerous tackling. But it all changed as soon as I saw the yet another high challenge
which lead to another broken leg. This was the Cagliari versus Roma game on Saturday, the
highlights of which I saw while doing my customary channel surfing.

Saturday's wild 3-3 finish between Manchester United and Everton saw two late goals conceded by
the Red Devils, but Everton thought his side was denied the chance for a last second chance for a
winner.

Fulham fans are a lively bunch. You don't hear too many people bashing the way Fulham goes about
with their business. So when the 20,000 Cottagers chanted "Disgrace to the Premier League" about
Mick McCarthy's Wolverhampton Wanderers, there was reason behind the gesture.

Last week on EPL Talk some discussion surfaced concerning Ryan Shawcross of Stoke City and his
vilification at the hands of Arsenal supporters. Regardless of your personal opinion on Shawcross,
through articles and comments, a line was drawn in the sand concerning the disgusting trend of
horror tackles on Premier League players, specifically from Arsenal.
No, this isn't an involuntary game of Operation - although we wish the Arsenal boys
wouldn't be so resistant towards the idea. Nor is this a bad attempt at 'Baller Tic-Tac-Toe. But
again, not a bad thought for the 'Baller Bingo creators.
Instead, we're foregoing our usual repertoire of hot gimpwalker queries (where RVP is often
spotlighted) to display the early season spread of crutch-ridden cuties.
Manchester United's roster will include Wayne Rooney for today's UEFA Champions League clash
with Rangers, and Sir Alex Ferguson believes Rooney will respond well in his first club match since
the public revelations about his infidelity.
Ferguson excluded Rooney from United's weekend fixture against Everton for fear of the striker
taking abuse after his personal life became tabloid fodder.
Rangers could not have asked for a better result drawing Man Utd at Old Trafford, 0-0 in game
that was devoid of much creativity and had a handful of scoring threats.
The Scottish champions put on a calculated display of park the bus which Utd were unable to
break down except on one occasion when Ryan Giggs was able to break the offside trap through a
lovely little chip but Darren Fletcher was slow pulling the trigger and the threat was snuffed
out.
Manchester United 0 0 Rangers
Rangers' intent was clear as they played shut-down football upon their trip to Old
Trafford in their Group C Champions League match with Manchester United. Chris
Smalling's (CB) competent and impressive performance as well as Rio Ferdinand's
(CB) return to first-team football were grossly overshadowed by the horrific broken ankle
Antonio Valcenia (RW) suffered just and hour into the match.

On any other Premier League weekend Bolton clogger Paul Robinson's abhorent
(and potentially ankle-shattering) 'tackle' on Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby would
have been a much more prominent talking point. However, given the severity of the injury
Bobby Zamora suffered against Wolves, it was generally ignored or at least put on
the back-burner.
Mick McCarthy has today insisted that his Wolves side our not dirty. The former Republic of Ireland
boss was left incensed at claims his side were deploying overly physical tactics so far this
season, and maintains his side are playing fair.
But after Wolves picked up a remarkable 13 yellow cars in their last two games, surely there
must be something going a miss at Molineux.
Hey, there's a match before the weekend even starts! It's Ricardo Clark and Eintracht Frankfurt
taking on SC Freiburg in Friday night Bundesliga action. Clark came on as a late sub in Frankfurt's
4-0 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach last weekend. The match is live on Gol TV at 2:30
p.m. ET
