Lately I've been listening to WNYC's wonderful RadioLab show, and recently came upon "The

Brits may have already heard it before. (And here I was hoping to break new ground.)

[Stepping back]
Okay, you're Martin Jol, Fulham manager. You've just left behind the land of windmills to help
the cozy Cottagers of London again prove that tradition more than bank account matters, even in the
British Petroleum League sorry that BPL moniker always messes me up.
England boss Roy Hodgson has announced is England squad for this summer's European Championship
and there is no place for Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand, while Chelsea's John Terry has been
included.
There are some new faces in Hodgson's squad including uncapped Arsenal midfielder Alex
Oxlade-Chamberlain and Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy and some surprises.

Say what you want about Roy Hodgson's England appointment, the cultured manager certainly likes
his target men.
In my view, this will suit England perfectly with Wayne Rooney's badly-judged sending-off in the
qualifiers opening the door for Peter Crouch, who has consistently impressed as an England player
under any manager.

Fernando Torres netted a hat-trick for Chelsea in their 6-1 demolition against QPR, following up

So, surely this means the old Torres is back? Not exactly, in my opinion.

QPR's 2-1 victory over Arsenal on Saturday has given them an excellent chance of retaining their
Premier League status. With Blackburn due to host Manchester United on Monday evening, four teams
are currently within one point of each other above the doomed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
It was Rangers' finest performance of the season and finally gave supporters a taste of what
Mark Hughes and his expensively assembled squad might bring to the club.

Hughes teaches his players to head the foot
The recent weeks has become a little bit boring in all fairness. Who likes to continually read
or write about the good stuffs. About how the squad is showing real resilience and fight and
courage and we're suddenly a pretty decent team when we have our players back fit.

Tough assignment writing about QPR. Why? Because I have a real soft spot for Rangers, but and
this is such a huge but, there is hardly a bigger but in the Western World - not even J-Lo has a
but this big. You know what I am referring to .... yes ..... two of the most unpleasant men ever to
grace a football field, Mark Hughes and Joey Barton.

- The Answer to the Question: Will There be a QPR Player of the Year Dinner?
There's a stat going around the interwebs that states our (mighty) 8 goals scored on the road is
the worst in the entire Football League. And as a result, we're 18th in the away table.
But here's another stat for you: we're somehow tied for fifth best in the EPL on away goals
conceded with just 19.

With three games squeezed into seven days and Jamie Carragher having started on Sunday, it was
surprising to see Sebastian Coates begin the game on the bench against QPR. After coming on late in
the first half as a substitute and subsequently being the only Liverpool defender blameless in
Rangers' three late goals, and with not even the most hopeful fan entertaining dreams of a push for
the top four any longer, it would be rather more than surprising were he to find himself once again
starting on the bench against Wigan on the weekend.

The term 'Goal Of The Season Contender' tends to get bandied around an awful lot over the
course of the a season, but last night during QPR's dramatic last-minute 3-2 victory over Liverpool
(we'll have more photos and highlights up later), we witnessed the kind of incredible strike that
is almost definitely set to feature on MotD's ten-strong shortlist come May.

Quick turnaround for Liverpool after their Sunday victory as they head to Loftus Road to face
Queens Park Rangers tomorrow night. After a difficult start to 2012, Liverpool finally look as
though they're turning a corner with a convincing win over Everton in the Merseyside Derby and a
grinding victory over Stoke on Sunday to advance to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Queens Park Rangers Everton Premier League 3rd March 2012
The decision to replace Neil Warnock with Mark Hughes in the hot seat at Loftus Road has yet to
have the desired effect for the west Londoners, who once again failed to secure a home win, this
time against Everton.
Fulham today pulled off a coup of a signing, with the transfer of former Real Madrid midfielder
Mahamadou Diarra.
Diarra is joining on a short term deal, with an option to extend in the summer from AS Monaco.
He has won La Liga twice and won Ligue 1 on four occasions. Diarra's decision to make the move has
furthered the belief that Fulham are showing their strength and their experience when dealing with
'noisy neighbours.
To take a perhaps unexpected angle on this, poor Samba Diakité. Making his QPR debut on loan
from Nancy in France, the Mali international found himself showing remarkable promise in his first
half an hour of Premier League football, marred only by a slight tendency to commit fouls. After
what may have been his seventh, a late lunge on a flying Bryan Ruiz, Diakité was shown a red card
and the match was effectively settled.
Football managers are infamous for wanting to rely on players they've already worked with. So with
England interim manager Stuart Pearce possibly in charge for just one game, he's calling upon
players he knows very well from his proper job as England Under 21 manager. Newspaper reports today
suggest that Pearce yesterday phoned many senior [.

Back in mid-December, Blackburn boss Steve Kean looked a cast-iron certainty to become the
second managerial casualty of the Premier League season. Following back-to-back home defeats to
West Brom and fellow strugglers Bolton, the seemingly inevitable appeared a matter of days away. An
impressive draw at Anfield and an outstanding victory at Old Trafford later however, and supporter
pressure began to ease as the Scot led a resurgent Rovers side into the New Year.

Blackburn Rovers 3-2 Queens Park Rangers Premier League 11th February 2012
Despite the recent introduction of new boss Mark Hughes, along with the likes of Bobby Zamora,
QPR look set for a long relegation dogfight this season after going down 3-2 to one of their
rivals, Blakcburn Rovers, at Ewood Park.

Queens Park Rangers 1-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers Premier League 4th February
2012
Djibril Cisse could never be described as a shrinking violet, so it will come as little surprise
that the former Liverpool man was once again the centre of attention at Loftus Road, albeit for all
the wrong reasons.
There was a lack of real excitement during the final day of the 2012 January Transfer Window,
with none of the Premier League's big names on the move and a subsequent drop in spending from the
same day 12 months ago means the latest transfer window closed without much of a noise.
The speculation that ran wild from Sky Sports News reporters situated at Premier League grounds
became boring with attention being finally turned to actual fixtures that took place on the
night.
