Did you know.
The Seattle Sounders have deservedly risen to the top most of the power rankings floating around
the MLS media world after winning 3 games in 8 days, but with that honor comes the significant
caveat that 6 of their 8 games (and all but one of their wins) have come at home. And their two
road games were at D.
The Montreal Impact appear to be closing in on their big-name acquisition.
According to numerous reports out of Canada and Italy, the Impact are on the verge of signing
Bologna striker Marco Di Vaio through the 2013 MLS season. Di Vaio, who will be 36 in July, is
reportedly holding a press conference on Friday to announce his future intentions.
Now that the Brian Ching saga is over and done with we can now look back on what the Montreal
Impact probably should have done instead of playing the hardball game with Ching and the Houston
Dynamo.
Obviously getting just a conditional draft pick* isn't bad but for the most part it wasn't what
Montreal and their fans would have expected in return for a player like Ching.
Pardon my French.
With less than a day until the Montreal Impact make their selections in the Major League Soccer
Expansion Draft, the predictions on who will be packing their bags for Quebec are coming from all
over so I thought I would toss my hat into the ring.
As the quality on MLS rosters continues to grow year after year, the league's new teams find
themselves with a wealth of options from which to build their team.
The Sporting KC reserves, the Swope Park Rangers, fell to FC Dallas in reserve team action today
2-1 down in Dallas. From reports KC had a good run of play today controlling large portions of the
game, but couldn't capitalize on the chances. Dallas grabbed two goals in the first 16 minutes
through Ruben Luna and Bobby Warshaw.

Finding minutes on a team as stacked as FC Dallas can't be easy for a rookie, so when Bobby
Warshaw gets a chance to step on the field for the reigning Western Conference champions, he has to
take full advantage.
Warshaw did just that on Saturday, coming off the bench to score a dramatic stoppage-time
game-winning goal to help FC Dallas complete an inspired comeback in a 3-2 victory against Sporting
Kansas City.

When Omar Bravo finished off a Teal Bunbury pass to give Sporting Kansas City a 2-0 lead on FC
Dallas in the 68th minute on Saturday night, the match-up of top MLS clubs looked to be over. The
home team was leading, the visitors were feeling the grind of a busy week, and it would have been
easy for Dallas to look ahead to Tuesday's U.

Peter Nowak on Saturday's crucial match in Columbus: "I think Columbus will be one of those
games that [a challenge] will come our way and we have to grab one point or three points and have
to make the best of it."
Danny Califf calls the match "a six pointer," adding, "It's the most important game of the
season so far.
The Rio Tinto hosted a clash of two of the three best in the Western Conference on Saturday night.
Dallas came in winners of three in a row while Real had not been beaten in five.
Salt Lake's StrategyJason Kreis started with his usual 4-4-2 diamond formation. The only surprise was Luis Gil starting
as Alvaro Saborio's strike partner instead of Fabian Espindola.

Real Salt Lake is back to its winning ways after it ousted a red-hot FC Dallas 2-0 on Saturday
thanks to second-half strikes from Andy Williams and Fabian Espindola.
The deadlock was broken almost immediately after halftime when Kevin Hartman couldn't hold onto
an Andy Williams free kick when the keeper got behind the ball but couldn't hold onto it as it
trickled across the line to earn the hosts a 1-0 lead.

In what was one of the best weeks of the season for Major League Soccer rookies, one of the
least-heralded first-year players stood out the most.
D.C. United's Blake Brettschneider, a second-round MLS Supplemental Draft pick out of the
University of South Carolina, delivered two assists in the club's 3-2 victory at Portland, playing
a major role in making D.
Our beloved Red Stripes fell last night in Monterrey, Mexico to the UANL Tigres in the first
round of what could be the annual Rio Grande Plate. FCD took on Tigres a couple of years back in
a home-away set that drew thousands of fans to PHP. The game wasn't televised, and the only real
way to follow it other than the FCD Twitter was in Spanish on 1270AM.
Buzz Carrick over at 3rd Degree has been doing a pretty good job at keeping up with the current
rosters for FCD. So...I thought I'd give you a heads up as well. With the latest news that FCD
has let go of Maykel Galindo and Charlie Campbell, the updated rosters look something like
this:

FCD took on Houston Baptist in a scrimmage yesterday, and while most of the game was
overshadowed by the breaking news of Heath Pearce's departure, there were still quite a few talking
points from the match itself. The match ended up 4-1 in Dallas' favor.

One win away.
That is how close FC Dallas came winning the franchise's first MLS Cup in 2010. Fresh off its
crushing defeat to the Colorado Rapids in the final, FCD is ready to make a return run to the
championship in 2011.
It seems most years before this one, the MLS Superdraft was something of an event for FC Dallas,
because we were usually looking at a pretty good pick close to the start of the draft. And while
that may have been a good thing on draft day, I wouldn't have traded our run last year to get
stronger picks this year.

The 2011 MLS Draft is set to kick off shortly and if you were wondering who the best players
available were at each position, let us give you a guide.
Here is a rundown of the top players available by position. We'll be tweaking the board as we
get closer to the start of the draft, but be sure to make this your place to see who is
available.
The 2011 MLS Draft is less than 12 hours away, but it's never too late to project every single
pick in the draft.
It took us some time, and plenty of travel, but we've come up with a full 54-player draft. Every
team, every pick, every player.
No, we don't actually think we'll be right on all 54, or even most, but this Mock Draft should
help give you a sense of how players are rated heading into Thursday's Draft.

Versatility is the name of the game for Stanford's Bobby Warshaw.
Listed as a defender, Warshaw displays the positional diversity that can be golden in a league
like Major League Soccer.
