The second thrower of the Omar Bravo bobblehead has been named. Today the official announcement
came that Cody Wente, had been charged with aggravated battery for the allegedly throwing the
bobblehead that hit Jimmy Nielsen underneath his eye. Wente looks set to make his first appearance
in front of a judge on Monday, but at this time is still being held on $10,000 bond.
Y'all see that BS that went down in KC last night? Not Graham Zusi's missile, that was fantastic.
I'm talking about that whole episode where a couple of jacktards tried to take out Jimmy Nielsen by
using an Omar Bravo bobblehead as a missle. Not cool bros, not cool.*
*Let's be honest here: these are the kind of things bros like to do.
We were warned there might be a couple of surprises when U.S. Soccer released its roster for
next week's friendly in Philly. Well, I'd say there were more than a couple. In fact, the surprises
came tumbling out of Thursday's announcement like drunks out of Moe's Tavern at last call.
Welcome back, DaMarcus Beasley!
Sporting KC striker Teal Bunbury has struggled to find playing time and the net of late, but he
made it count last week when he scored a dramatic late-game equalizer against New England. His 89th
minute tally ensured a share of the points and kept Kansas City's 13-game unbeaten run intact.
Bunbury, always the ham, celebrated by running to the corner flag and playing "bobblehead" for the
fans.
Well, I certainly wasn't expecting that performance this weekend from the Dynamo. I'm not
complaining of course and I've never been happier to be so wrong about a game, especially when it's
beating up the Sounders. In case you missed it, and I doubt if you're reading this blog that you
did, Houston took it to Seattle on Saturday, thumping the inventors of all things soccer, 3-1.
Sporting KC has had a flare for the dramatic during their 13-game MLS unbeaten streak. Things
were no different Saturday.
Struggling forward Teal Bunbury came off the bench on his bobblehead give-away night, but with
KC down 1-0 to the New England Revolution in the 89th minute, Bunbury buried a shot in the back of
the net to save a point for Sporting, set the club record for consecutive games without a loss and
keep his team unbeaten at home.
