Where is the refing consistency? Fox, who have now clearly turned to supporting the Roar after
ditching them after game 3, clearly need to write to the FFA that the Refs need to be re-briefed.
Well maybe not. But apart from Miller's punch, how was the Roar's treatment of Kruse worse than
Sydney's treatment of Oar?

Not enough that Charlie Miller, last year's fan favourite, has disgraced himself, now he is back on
the injured list. So is Danny Tiatto. Should have let them go.
Moore is out too - sorry he shouldn't be our marquee (I understand he is paid what so clubs pay
players inside the cap).
Now we will probably play the A-League's worst player - Bob Malcolm.

John: Watching the roar wasn't much fun Saturday
Informed Source: I'll bet. They seem to be in a big low.
John: Bob Malcolm caused 2 goals and looked like he wasn't even playing, so did Moore in the 1st 20
mins.
Informed Source: Malcolm may well know that he's unlikely to be part of the main mix from here on
in.

Bob Malcolm and Craig Moore will not play next week. Certainly in the case of Malcolm that is a
very good thing. He may be the worse import the A-League has had. Robbie Slater described his work
as the worst defending he had seen in the A-League. He caused the first 2 goals. The first bounced
off him to the Mariners (2nd time in two weeks) and the 2nd he decided not to tackle.

Here is what the Courier Mail said today:
'Farina's departure will spell the end for a handful of Roar players, sooner rather
than later. Tiatto, 36, has already declared he will retire at season's end, while the Roar careers
of Miller and Bob Malcolm – both off contract at the end of Brisbane's current campaign – seem
clouded.

John has been sick. So he has asked me to update his blog.
There are two questions from this game:
1. were Perth prepared to cheat to win?
2. does Chris Beath have the skills to referee in the A-League.
Dad and I watched the replay on tv and it was pretty clear that the Roar, while making some bad
defensive mistakes ( is Bob Malcolm good enough to play in the A-League), dominated the game.

IN FP's experience there are two types of surprises. One is the one we all want, the pleasant
surprise, the surprise birthday present or it's equivalent.
Then there's the other type, the one you never want to hear about.
Unfortunately, Perth Glory fans got a dose of the other one yesterday.

Big Bob Malcolm, Scottish, has pushed Aussie Luke DeVere out of Centre-Back for Brisbane. Why? He
hasn't improved the leaking Roar defence has he?
Was young Aussie Luke so poor last year when The Roar did so well.
And the embarrasingly fat Charlie Miller takes much of young Mitch Nicholls game time.

Very disappointing.
I knew the crowd would be low. And that favours the opposition. You could see see the
disappointment on the players faces as came to Brisbane's lowest ever crowd.
While market development is the clubs' responsibility, this reflects a poor governance model for
football's positioning in Australia.

Did Charlie Miller do any pre-season training? I mean any!
And if so why does he look exactly the same as year. Maybe even fatter. He should be charged with
bringing the game into disrepute.
I hope Mitch Nichols keeps Charlie Tim Tam, who is listed at 67kg compared to Mitch's 75kg's in the
FFA Media handbook, out of the ball game.

Gold Coast United has lifted the bar for domestic football in Australia.
Jason Culina, Joel Porter, Shane Smeltz, Robson, Bas Van Den Brink all lit up the Brisbane night
with intelligent, skilful football. 3-1 to United. Great for the A-League, great for football fans
everywhere.
Joel Porter particularly caught my eye.

Coaches get ambivalent feelings during the preseason. The results don't count for points so they
can relax a little and most of their fans are watching something else (mostly their lives rushing
past). But then they are making the gambles and trials that will effect the season and if these go
wrong people will notice, particularly during the season.

Words of wisdom from the Grandmother sitting next to me at the Celtic game as Bob Malcolm ran on.
Hmmm looks like we need him, I thought carefully to myself.
Barry Hand is a Sydney Swans players who recently retired because he couldn't stop himself hitting
opponents. The Grandmother was a big AFL fan.

Celtic had a clutch. They watched the Roar's game for most of the first half. Then
double-d-clutched. From fast to fast to faster still. They saw the Roar playing their tight places,
short passing game. And just nipped in and pitched the ball in Brisbane's half. Twice in some few
minutes.

Victory just went down 0-3 to Fulham in front of 21,000. On reflection it seems Fulham's 2nd half
changes flattered GCFC. But the score doesn't tell stories.
It is our turn next. Moore is trying to provoke his team-mates into action. Bob Malcolm will be
playing his spot.
I'm ready to do my job.

I would like to see the FFA be clearer about its unique rules for the A-League. I mean the rules
that are in addition to FIFAs regulations. They should clearly set-out:
- the salary cap
- squad size limits
- foreign player limits
- guest player limits
- salary cap exemptions (like Kevin Muscat being excluded from Victory's cap last year because he
had passed some coaching courses).

According to the Brisbane RFC account, a one sided affair. Sounds like a great performance by
Sergio Van Dijk who scored from a free kick and forced two more great saves.
Just how much this tells about NQ's preparation and squad is not clear. Robbie Fowler is out with a
hamstring strain - which can be viewed as a significant concern for the club.

The Courier Mail is reporting that Brisbane Roar are trialing Motherwell's Bob Malcolm (28).
Malcolm has played 14 games this season for 3 goals and 5 yellow cards. Wikipedia report 20 games
in 2008 and 2009 and injury limiting him to 45 games since 2006. He has played for Rangers, Derby
County and QPR.

MLS Rumors 05 February @ 08:26 AM EST
Rating: 4 (Good)
Several reports across the pond are stating that the Derby County midfielder (currently on loan to
Queens Park Rangers) may be seen this summer plying his trade at Pizza Hut Park.
The 27 year old Scottish defensive midfielder who once played for Glasgow Rangers, may be looking
for a new challenge, in America.
