Brian Bliss Named Sporting KC's Director of Player Personnel

Sporting Kansas City made an addition to their technical staff today when the club hired former player, assistant coach, and interim head coach Brian Bliss as the club's first Director of Player Personnel. Bliss spent one season in Kansas City as a player back in 1998, appearing just three times after being acquired from New York in the offseason.

Vancouver is 1-1 after the first two games, winning on opening day at home against Toronto and losing last week against in Philadelphia. They are being hit by injuries and suspensions this week and could be in a similar situation that KC was in last week when it comes to their center back set up.

It appears Peter Vermes is going to stay around KC. Since the offseason, Robb Heineman has mentioned on Twitter that there were trying to get a deal done to extend Vermes contract. The Star is reporting this morning that Vermes has signed an extension that will keep him in KC through 2017.

Vermes became the technical director of KC back in 2006, shortly after OnGoal bought the team from Hunt Sports Group.

Some sad news to report first this week. Former Kansas City head coach and Sporting Legend, Bob Gansler was hospitalized over the weekend after suffering a stroke on Saturday. The 73 year old who led Kansas City to the 2000 MLS Supporters' Shield, 2000 MLS Cup, and 2004 US Open Cup is in the hopsital recovering from the stroke.
