Bolton's Bogdan could do little but look stunned after Tim Howard booted the ball upfield and it took a bounce that evaded him altogether. The wind carried it a good 20 yards further. Howard refused to celebrate mindful of goalkeeper union rules. The stunning goal hogged the headlines obscuring the equally stunning comeback by Bolton for an exceedingly rare win.

A friend of mine, an Arsenal supporter, sent me an e-mail about fifteen minutes after Mikel Arteta's £10m transfer to Arsenal went through. It began "Hope you're holding up OK," and ended "I feel bad that it went down like this.

David Bingham's debut for the San Jose Earthquakes was quite seismic. Before his epic goal he actually thinks of throwing the ball to a player in the outfield.

He then boots the ball (physics tells you the longest trajectories by projectiles are achieved at 45 degrees to the horizontal) which bounces on the D in front of West Brom's Boaz Myhill and skips over.

Who they need: Spurs have a decent squad with depth, but a few players might be needed to strengthen things especially if they have a good Champions League run.

Who they should buy: Rafael Van Der Vaart (Loan), Nedum Onuoha, Michah Richards, Arda Turan, Fernando Gago, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Loric Remy

West Brom

Who they have bought:  Steven Reid, Pablo Ibáñez, Boaz Myhill

Who they need: West Brom have a decent squad, but I don't see a striker there capable of scoring 12 plus goals a season, nor do I see their midfielder's stepping up to pitch in, although Brunt or Thomas may disagree with me.

This week we've seen the good the bad and the ugly sides of football. As always we start with the good, firstly Arsenal demolished Porto then United gave the OAP's from Milan a good spanking and both followed these with victories of varying difficulty in the premiership.

Moving on to the bad; Liverpool sunk to a new level of low by losing firstly to Wigan, but then to Lille, how long till Benitiz breaks down and cries?

Arsenals title hopes were once again on a knife edge until Nicklas Bendtner grabbed a 93rd minute winner to secure a 2-1 win against a plucky Hull side, who played the whole of the 2nd half with 10 men.

The victory takes the Gunners joint top, level on points with Chelsea having played a game more.

A fantastic quartet from Wayne Rooney was enough to see Manchester United see off Hull City at Old Trafford. Tigers keeper Boaz Myhill was in good form to keep his side in the game after Sir Alex Ferguson's side had taken an early lead and Rooney scored three late goals to complete the rout.

inspired performance by the welshman denies spurs

Before the game I didn't consider that Myhill would offer us too many problems; but he managed to single-handedly take a point back north for his club  after an amazing performance denied our players of a single goal. Simply put this will be seen as one of the shut outs of the season as chance after chance was saved; including two double saves.

Sky Sports we trust them, not the Daily Mail says US and Aston Villa keeper to Hull City is just about a done deal.

If true, Guzan will be the 2nd American born player, Boaz Myhill was the other, who has kept the wickets for Hull City in two years.

UPDATE: According to West Bromwich's official website, West Bromwich have signed Boaz Myhill for an undisclosed fee. Myhill signed a three-year deal with a further one-year club option.
