Hull City face another critical game this afternoon in the Premier League as they welcome Tony
Pulis' tough tackling Stoke City to the KC stadium. Hull manager Phil Brown is under immense
pressure to deliver 3 points following the recent boardroom shake up which has left the Tigers boss
with a highly uncertain future at the North East club.

Arsene Wenger and Arsenal may soon have a new owner at the club. Stan Kroenke, who already added
to his stock of shares in the North London club earlier this week, reportedly bought 200 more
shares today to draw his stake in the club to 29.9 percent -- just 0.09 percent away from the limit
where Kroenke would have to make a bid for the remaining shares.

Big Story
The future of Rafa Benitez dominates the British press this morning, as
Liverpool slumped to their sixth defeat in seven games and fingers are being
jabbed once again: former Liverpool star Ronnie Whelan suggests Rafa does not care about the
Premier League; Sam Wallace concludes that Rafa is too clever for his own good; John Ley looks at
the facts unnecessarily needed to prove Liverpool have had a poor start; and David Hytner looks at
the club's growing injury crisis, the one mitigating factor that seems to be saving Rafa.

Real Madrid are lining up Rafa Benitez as their next manager after giving Manuel Pellegrini two
games to save his job.
The Spanish giants have won just one of their last five games and suffered the humiliation of a 4-0
defeat by third division Alcorcon in the Cup on Tuesday night.
Madrid considered sacking Pellegrini straight after the latest debacle, but will give him a chance
to turn things around against Getafe on Saturday and at AC Milan in the Champions League on
Wednesday.

Crisis over at Anfield, then. Blimey, even David Ngog scored. Maybe it is because of such
miracles that all the sensible advice from pundits about how "just one win" wouldn't alter
Liverpool's dire on and off-field straits has gone through the defenestration process. Liverpool
were almost everything against United that they weren't against either Sunderland or Olympique
Lyonnais.

Halloween will arrive in a few days, but for Atlético Madrid, this season has been a complete
nightmare from the beginning. Los rojiblancos hit their low point with a dull thud on
Saturday when they could not fend off a nine-man Mallorca team and settled for a 1-1 draw at the
Vicente CalderĂłn.

by CARL ELDRIDGEÂ Arsene Wenger has so far refused to be drawn on the boardroom battle between
Stan Kroenke, who was given a place on the board last year, and second-biggest shareholder Alisher
Usmanov. But in this morning's paper he does throw some light on his opinions of the matter.
He told the Sun: "The only important thing is the club is run properly in every department.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he steers clear of the boardroom dramas at the club.
Arsenal could be headed for new ownership with majority shareholder Stan Kroenke just one per cent
away from the figure that would require him to launch a takeover bid.
But Wenger says:
"On the board, you have all the shareholders, some main shareholders. Click to continue reading...
In his 2006 book "Floodlit Dreams", writer Ian Ridley brilliantly summed up the small town
politics that drive the running of so many football clubs. He had taken the chairmanship at
Weymouth Football Club with big ambitions, but a combination of under-achievement on the pitch,
vultures circling overhead and internal squabbling saw him eventually removed by a coup d'etat.

Well here we all are again, a little dustier and a trifle older, but here we all are
nevertheless.
I did try to get excited about the internationals. But I couldn't. I missed the Ukraine game
entirely, and though I did watch the Belarus game, it was so inconsequential that I lost interest
faster than I do when I periodically attempt doing some DIY.

The disharmony plaguing the Liverpool boardroom has been laid bare again after Tom Hicks called the
bluff of George Gillett Jr., his co-owner, by letting it be known that he would allow Gillett to
sell his 50pc stake in the club.
The war of attrition between the Americans has been stepped up over the past fortnight, with
Gillett playing host to Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah al-Saud, a potential investor, during a
rare visit to Anfield and scheduling talks with the Saudi in Jeddah this week, without discussing
the negotiations with Hicks before they became public knowledge.

A quick Sunday round-up for you.
Arsenal players got themselves on the scoresheet yesterday for their respective countries. Cesc
scored a lovely goal against Armenia, Philippe Senderos scored two excellent headers against
Luxembourg and William Gallas got one for France as Spain, Switzerland and France all won.

Enrique, speaking to the Chronicle, says that the players are determined to put last season's

10 things I hate about Arsenal
OK, during this International break and before the news of goings on in the Boardroom, I thought
that I would have a light hearted rant. As Arsenal fans we are long suffering and this rant is
mainly aimed at those of us who attend the Emirates. I find myself incredibly frustrated at times
and I thought that I would share these with you.

It was a throwaway line that may yet stick.
Phil Brown, the "beleaguered Hull boss" as he is known in media circles, said the term when
questioned about his own future in a press conference last week.
And while there is no finite moment on the football calendar where managers begin to move jobs, it
does seem that the axe falls of bosses heads happen when just the leaves begin to fall form the
trees.

Reading some of this shit just makes my brain explode. How on Earth is Ken Bates Leeds'
Chairman? He doesn't own the club? He doesn't know anyone who owns the club? It wouldn't suprise me
if Leeds were actually owned by Harry Potter, or those fucking dogs playing cards in that
picture.

Athletic Bilbao would have no problems with the proposed UEFA plan of mandating eight homegrown
players in the squad of eighteen for every match or the theoretical 6 + 5 rule, where six players
of the starting eleven would have to be eligible for the national team of their club's country.

Over at Women's Soccer USA, Jen Striker reports that Peter Wilt is out at Chicago Red Stars. It was
pretty obvious from his ESPN Soccernet interview that he was looking to go somewhere else, but I
was a bit surprised at how Striker characterized the departure:
According to Chicago sources, Marcia McDermott has completed her boardroom takeover of
the Red Stars by forcing out Peter Wilt and assuming his position in the organization.

Jose Mourinho and Barcelona directors Marc Ingla and Txiki Begiristain, who were looking for

the meeting was held in the boardroom of a bank in Lisbon "to avoid being recognized".

David Beckham will move to a club in Europe during the January transfer window. Everyone said that
he would be moving to Chelsea, but after their ruckus with FIFA, I can't see that on the cards.

The Lane just for the status and excess baggage he brings with him.

Oh great. It looks like it's all kicking off again in the boardroom (or not in the boardroom as
far as Alisher Usmanov goes).
There's been renewed media speculation about the final resting place of Lady Nina

The speculation presented in the Sun today is quite old news as Arsenalinsider informed you all
of any likely impending Boardroom struggle back in July, when Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith was
rumoured to have finally found a buyer for her shares. The 15.9% stake was always going to be the
crucial holding in the final ownership direction, and there were only two players who were going to
fight it out.

The bookmakers were dreading the match at Portsmouth yesterday.

If I were Rafa I would be sick and tired of not being backed by the club's owners. It wouldn't
surprise me if he decided to quit the club sooner rather than later and in fact it wouldn't
surprise me if the Clowns who run the club sacked him before he had a chance to leave of his own
accord.
