Including the midweek game on June 29, MLS had 9 games this past week with an average attendance
of 21,115 up from 19,322 the previous week. San Jose was the big winner this week drawing over
41,000 for its game against the Red Bulls, which was smartly moved to Stanford Stadium. The Galaxy
registered their third sell out of the season at the Home Depot Center for its Fourth of July game
against the Sounders.
All eighteen teams are in action this weekend as Major League Soccer gets set to begin a stretch
of games without players called up for international duty.
Here are previews for all nine games scheduled this weekend along with our predicted
results.
Philadelphia Union vs. Toronto FC
BMO Field 12:30 PM EDT
An early start in Toronto as the Union look to defend their place at the top of the Eastern
Conference standings.
We continue to expand our coverage of American soccer culture with our series "Better Know a
Supporters Group," just like Steven Colbert's "Better Know a District" from "The Colbert
Report".
Our goal: to feature each of the MLS teams' supporters groups. We've sent e-mails to each and every
SG in Major League Soccer and soon you'll be able to check all what each is all about and what
awesomeness they have to contribute to our growing American soccer world.
Change is in the air north of the border, where a fourth team and a new format make for some
intriguing action in the 2011 Nutrilite Canadian Championship, which kicks off Wednesday
evening.
With the addition of NASL side FC Edmonton, the championships have moved from a three-team,
round-robin format to a four-team, knockout stage-style tournament.
MLS announced that the 2011 MLS Cup Final will be played at the Home Depot Center, home of the
Los Angeles Galaxy and Chivas USA, on November 20. The Galaxy have hosted the Cup three times since
MLS began in 1996.
This marks the second year in a row that MLS has scheduled its championship game at the same
time as a Sunday Night Football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants.
Roof goes here.Ask Toronto FC supporters what is wrong with the failing, and
seemingly flailing, club right now and many will give an arms-length list of problems dressed in
red kits or holding clipboards. In a season where on-field successes have been few and far between,
it is hard to fault the average member of BMO Field's faithful for pointing at the pitch and
screaming in exasperated frustration.

(18th) BMO FIELD - SATURDAY 7PM ETTV:
TSN THE KICKABOUT:- What is more devastating: a massive 10-game road trip; or, coming
off a humiliating 6-2 loss at home and being decimated by injury and International duty?

"Just don't pass. Just don't pass. Just don't pass."
Few would have guessed that yet another mediocre Alen Stevanovic performance would have been the
catalyst for a recall to parent-club Torino. Yet, when the enigmatic Swiss-Serb was subbed off
against Seattle in the 2nd Half yesterday, he was leaving the BMO Field pitch for the last time.
Ah, the GD. No, not "God damn" (although TFC's may make you blurt that) nor "Gerry Dobson"
(although you may blurt "
God damn, Gerry Dobson stop showing me TFC's GD!"). The GD we
refer to today is of course "Goal Difference" (or differential if you're a high falutin' professor
type. Nerd.) Currently Toronto FC has the worst GD in MLS at a whopping -19, a full -9 worse than
the next most useless club.
Including the midweek games played on July 20th Major League Soccer had an average weekly
attendance of 15,669, down from 16,865 the previous week. The Los Angeles topped the attendance
charts this week with 24,709 for their game against the Columbus Crew. Toronto FC had 21,087 for
their midweek game against FC Dallas.
No midweek games were played in Major League Soccer last week, all eight games were played on
the weekend with an average attendance of 18,975 up from 15,937 the previous week. The average was
helped in a big way by the Seattle Sounders home game against Chivas USA which drew 36,364. The New
York Red Bulls, despite their troubles on the field had a season high 25,177 in attendance for
their game against the Chicago Fire.
That's one delicious seat cushionBienvenue la "401 Derby"! With the new improved
Stade Saputo (aka L'Emporium de Fromage) under construction and the bones of the squad starting to
come together via the MLS Expansion Draft, TFC's natural rival, Montreal Impact, are inching
towards life in the big leagues.

Winter is upon us! So are years of "winter" puns! Yes, the news travelled quickly across the
Atlantic yesterday that Dutch legend Aron Winter was on the verge of joining Toronto FC. In what
capacity we are yet to know for certain - at the time of writing it could be Technical Director,
Head Coach, GM, starting midfielder or head groundskeeper.
On Monday MLS teased a "major soccer announcement" to fans and media and scheduled the event for
10:00 a.m. The description of a major event had soccer fans and journalists buzzing. Ultimately
the big news was that Red Bull Arena would be the host venue for the 2011 AT&T MLS All Star Game.

"Honey, I found a Tuesday in November..."
For some wacky reason known only to Don Garber and his band of merry New York execs, it seems to
take Major League Soccer longer every year to release the regular season schedule. But alas, after
much waiting, supporters' patience was rewarded today with the release of the full fixture
list.

The Los Angeles Galaxy had its fair share of chances to score. Toronto FC did too. Instead,
goalkeepers Donovan Ricketts and Stefan Frei stood the tallest in a 0-0 draw at BMO Field Wednesday
night.
The Galaxy, playing without the injured Landon Donovan again, hit the post three times.
Chris Pontius scored on either side of halftime and Charlie Davies scored his MLS leading 5th goal
of the season in D.C. United's surprisingly comfortable 3-0 win tonight against Toronto FC at BMO
Field. United jumped out to a 2-0 ...

A week after treating its fans to the much-hyped clash between New York and Los Angeles, MLS
will be showcasing a match that perhaps comes with even more anticipation: the league's first-ever
Cascadia rivalry match between the Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers.
TORONTO FC (13th) VS. CHICAGO FIRE (16th)
