Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has urged his teammates to fight successfully for silverware
every season but admits that the roller-coaster 2011-12 title race left him sweating on the final
match-day.
City, who controlled their destiny going into the last game of the season at home to QPR, needed
to match Manchester United's result to lift the title at the Red Devils' expense.
Just the one Aaron Lennon – he holds the bulb and the universe revolves around him, n'est ce
pas? Not to cast aspersions on the young blighter's character you understand, he seems a most
charming young fish (now with added maturity – witness the disappearance of his go-faster
diagonals in his eyebrows).
There are a couple of problems with waking up at 6.30 AM Central Time to catch a lunch-time
kickoff on a Sunday. One, it's really early for a Sunday morning, and your system has not
really slept off/flushed out everything that went into it on the Saturday night. Secondly, when
they say lunch-time, they apparently mean noon.
If you're like me, Sunday was a blur. There were so much going on during the 90 minutes of Premier
League action, that it was often very difficult to catch everything. If you missed any of the goals
or action, ...

"London swinging again".
Jordan Henderson determined to win back England place
• 'One day I know I will be given the opportunity' • England Under-21 captain reflects on
'blur' of a year The England Under-21 captain Jordan Henderson admits the last year has been
something of a blur but is determined to bide his time as he waits for another crack at the senior
squad.
If January's transfer deadline day was football acting in a deep recession, the mind boggles at
what will unfold should the good times roll once more.
Two British record transfer fees within minutes in a blur of aircraft and fast cars travelling
between Tyneside, Merseyside and London as Liverpool and Chelsea sent the markets into a
frenzy.
One of these teams is in the Champions League semi-final, but you wouldn't know it from watching
the game. Which is a bad thing, I suppose, as it'll only confirm to Clint Dempsey what he probably
already knows: he can play with the top players because he is one of the top players.
Dempsey it was who scored Fulham's well deserved equaliser tonight, a free header from a corner
that hobbled into the far corner of the net teasingly slowly.
I'm pathetic at cards. I pick up the rules easily enough but then it's pretty much all a blur.
So few numbers and colours, frankly it's not that complex, but if you waited for me to work out
what to do, you'd be there all night. And people round the table, staring...Whatever the opposite
of a poker face is, I've got it.
Major League Soccer -- Move over, soccer moms, the league's hard-core fan groups are here to
stay - ESPN
That said, standing in the River End during a game, you can't help but be optimistic that MLS is
veering toward an organic and testosterone-driven experience. That is perhaps the biggest sign of
soccer's growth in this country.
LA Galaxy have revealed their third shirt for the 2011 MLS season.
The new jersey, designed by Adidas, looks black in the photo but is actually a dark blue (or, as
LA Galaxy are calling it, a dark blur color called "Punjab"). The trim of the shirt is in gold (LA
Galaxy refer to it as "Light Oil Gold," no joke).
We have a final. It's not the one any reasonable observer expected, not does it have much of a
glamorous sheen. But this is what playoffs give us; even an adjustment to the structure to give
higher seeds more of an advantage in the first round could have given us this result.
Win your home games, and you have a pretty damn good shot at playing at a neutral site for MLS Cup.
If you're fairly new to soccer, or are just young enough that anything pre-2006 is a blur, you
might not realize how big a deal Clint Mathis really was. Full of talent, full of attitude, and the
sport's first true "character" in the US, Mathis' promise was only exceeded by his confidence.
Mathis announced his retirement today, effective following the Galaxy's friendly against Real
Madrid, bringing to a close a career that spanned twelve years and included stints with LA on
multiple occasions, New York on multiple occasions, as well as stops in Germany, Greece, Colorado,
and Salt Lake City.
As Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons once said: Oh what a night.
I can't remember anything like it at the Grove. The best match in the five years of ground?
Definitely, indubitably, unarguably. It was unforgettable. I shouted myself hoarse and the Epic
Bundle Counter went off the scale.
The sight of five designated players on the pitch at one time never materialized and the result
was somewhat anti-climactic but the Fire hope that the first half of tonight's match will be more
indicative of things to come. Freddie Ljungberg impressed in the first 45 minutes with several runs
and near misses that didn't quite materialize into scores.
World Cup 2010 is over. Feels weird to say. But it is. We'll spend the next few days reviewing
the tournament here on World Cup Blog (as well as beginning to post club team news on The Offside
again), but right now I'm interested in what everyone will take from this World Cup.
Today is the last Football Friday of the 2010 World Cup. It seems like it all want past in a
multi-coloured blur of excitement and amazing soccer.
Bafana Bafana makes South Africa Proud
We waited so long from that first announcement that South Africa would host the 2010 World Cup,
the first on African soil, to the kickoff, just four weeks ago on 11 June at Soccer City in Jozi
when Bafana Bafana held Mexico to a draw and Sipiwe Tshabalala score one of the most beautiful
goals of the entire 2010 World Cup –in fact the first goal of the tournament.
Not sure about you, but I've been enjoying this two day break in World Cup action. Nineteen
straight days of multiple matches is great in theory, but turns out you really can have too much of
a good thing. Especially when it all happens in a bit of a blur. So I've been using the two days to
sit and reflect on what's happened so far, and to look forward to what's about to happen, and also
to indulge myself with a bit of blogging that's not all about the games.
Ultimate Gamer News: Red Dead rides high in UK charts 16 minutes ago from Eurogamer - News -
Comment - Like World Cup second, Blur sneaks into top 10. Red Dead Redemption held onto its top
spot in the UK All-Formats chart this week while 2010 FIFA World Cup moved back up to second. UFC
Undisputed 2010 slipped to third and there was a new entry for The Sims 3: Ambition expansion pack
at six.
Never mind the theory that Peter Crouch Can Do Anything – the 2010 product is Gareth Bale.
When he sets off on a gallop down the left the world is his oyster. He has within his armoury the
capacity to outpace just about any opponent slower than Usain Bolt; play an intelligent, 10-yard
diagonal ball infield; or whip in a peach of a cross, as demonstrated for the opener yesterday.
I really have no particular affinity for or hangups with any of the European Championship teams.
This is a little odd for me because in club soccer I'm known to arbitrarily pick a side and then
live or die with them as if I was born on their home stadium's hallowed grass. But international?
I'm a USMNT fan, of course.
This just in: we did a deal for a highly-touted Spaniard in under four days. What's more? We
didn't overpay for his services. Me likey.
Welcome to The Bridge, Juanito.
Let me see if I can track the genesis of this one. On Wednesday of last week, news broke that we
were in pole position to get Mata from the clutches of Arsenal and Tottenham.
Phew. That feels good doesn't it? As the blur of a hangover subsides gradually but fairly gently I
must admit I'm still feeling pretty good, and struggling to unplaster the smile from my face. A
first win for the Reds in Derby since 1994, a first ever at Pride Park and a first double over the
Rams in 21 years [.
Now we know the coverage the tennis gets, even the cricket on Free-To-Air but it was the hidden
A-League that gets the biggest crowd in Melbourne last night.
What would we get if we could increase the media coverage, fta coverage etc etc.
A-League Melbourne Victory Vs Melbourne Heart Crowd: 32,231
Twenty/20 Big Bash Victoria Vs New South Wales Crowd: 17,118
Australia Open Rod Laver Arena night session Crowd 26,000 (approx according to Channel Seven)
And I reckon the 20/20 Big Bash will soar - then die - as crowds reject the novelty.
The 26th of May 2008 is a day I remember precious little of. A shame, because the day marks the
first - and perhaps only - time that I saw my beloved Stockport County win at Wembley, beating
Rochdale 3-2 in the League 2 Playoff Final. As so often with these momentous occasions, however, it
is all something of a blur, two years on.
Is it necessary for a new fragrance to have a commercial promoting it? Possibly. Does said
commercial need to star Evan Rachel Wood, be filmed in 3D and have a cotdamn trailer? Hell no. How
the hell you gonna have a promo for what is essentially a promo? Blur said it best y'all, "modern
life is rubbish.
UEFA President Michel unveiled his home country France as hosts of Euro 2016 today. I know what
you're thinking. "Fix!", right? But probably not. UEFA is not a dictatorship, and France was
elected as Euro 2016 host after a series of ballots by UEFA committee members.
The other two bidding nations were Italy and Turkey.
It's been a delightfully frenzied couple of days. So much to take in. There's the fear that if I
think too much about the permeations of what Tottenham have achieved, and, of course, what they
might yet achieve, I may well be tempted to ring up my boss on Monday and tell him I won't be
coming in for a while.
