Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has emphasized the importance of composure and humility
during the most successful period of his career, both with the team and individually.
Hart won his second consecutive Barclays Golden Glove award en route to City's thrilling title
win earlier this month and the young stopper continues to hear praises after linking up with his
international teammates during England's Euro 2012 training camp.

Dave Bryan looks on stonily as Roberto Martinez gives him a piece of his mind
Wigan was robbed of a win against Chelsea by an incompetent linesman. Dave Bryan was guilty of
letting both Branislav Ivanovic and Juan Mata's goal stand although they were clearly off side, the
first more so than the second.
An amazing Arsenal side were yesterday forced to rue their missed chances as their hopes of
progressing to the quarter finals of the Champions League were extinguished by a very poor Milan
side.
Losing 3-0 on the night, Milan made it through to the last eight 4-3 on aggregate thanks to
their first leg 4-0 win at the San Siro two weeks ago.

From attempting to leave the gas station while the car is still being filled to an ice skating
mission on a frozen but ultimately not frozen enough pond, we're heavy contributors to the
pantheon of dumb.
Well the Rapids, via a tweet from Tim Hinchey, essentially confirmed that our new #10 is Martin
Rivero. However there was no official announcement of the signing today. The Denver Post suggests
one reason:
So what's the delay? Here's why, maybe:Rivero remains in a contract dispute with
Rosario Central, according to Diario La Capital.
Melbourne Victory were worse than ever - and yet that's despite changing the coach.
Kevin Muscat has been told to work on the defence!
He'd be better doing a Paul Scholes and get himself back on the pitch.
Adrian Leijer and Roddie Vargas are not just weak, but have been exposed all season and how is
Leijer a leader.
Being blamed for some of the goals that Manchester United conceded in the last few matches,
David De Gea doesn't only lost his starting spot to Anders Lindegaard but might also be asked by
the club to do an eye operation.
According to the latest reports in England, the Red Devils are preparing a full-time optometrist
to treat De Gea, who is actually having a problem with his vision as he always wears glasses since
kids, only to replace it with contact lenses during matches.
1. Poor refereeing – the gift that keeps on giving.
Those that have been watching long enough will argue if Kompany's tackle was really worth the
red card. A few years ago, it would have been a brilliant tackle but now considered a foul, but
honestly to fans on both sides, was it really worth a red card?

Former Chelsea Coach Carlo Ancelotti believes that English sides Arsenal and Chelsea will
struggle against Italian opponents AC Milan and Napoli. The 52 year old further went on to say that
state of the game in England is 'unwell'.
These are very interesting remarks coming from a coach who helped led the Blues to the Premier
League title in 2009/2010.
Considering the fact that Sepp Blatter has been working for FIFA for the best part of 40 years,
it is remarkable just how good he's gotten at annoying football fans, or should I say English
football fans.
Now if any other 75 year old man with a degree in business and economics (and has never played
professional football) walked into your local and started spouting their nonsense opinions about
how issues such as racism in football can be solved with a handshake, I'm sure he would be told to
pipe down and get out with some colourful language thrown in for good measure.
It was bound to happen sooner or later. Man City's amazing unbeaten run finally ended last night
after they suffered 2-1 away defeat to Serie A club SS Napoli. The loss now means City will have to
beat Bayern Munich at home in the final group game and hope that Villarreal who are yet to pick up
a point in the tournament can spring a surprise and beat the Italian club.
Sepp Blatter blunders into racism row What the back pages say
Sepp Blatter was facing renewed calls for his resignation last night after dismissing on-pitch
racism just as the FA charged Luis Suarez over allegations he racially abused Patrice Evra.

Life's tough enough for the unemployed in an unstable global economy. And life is certainly
tough enough for those who have to referee football games.
But it's infinitely worse when unemployed and forced to live with the same name as a referee
recently rendered exceedingly unpopular by some decisions in a rather large game the previous
weekend.
A bit of this will not hurt Arsenal
Five matches into the season and a perfect record. An outpouring of 21 goals with just four
conceded. And the latest, a win over arch rivals Chelsea by a 3-1 margin. Utd are already
separating themselves by their intimidating performances.
His side's effervescent start is still not enough to make Sir Alex happy.
Are they the best?
In his last post, Jacques posed an interesting question:
Is it acceptable/effective to select experienced players with incomplete skill sets and little
tactical malleability? Or, is the system Klinsmann seeks to implement better served by selecting
players with less pedigree but with skill sets better suited to succeed in a possession based
system?
Manchester City chief Garry Cook's blunders
Garry Cook's latest gaffe at Manchester City follows a succession of embarrassing blunders and
his job as chief executive lingers in the balance at Eastlands.

Henry: Cut Out to Be a Captain?Perusing Twitter yesterday I came across an article by Alex
Labidou on Goal.com in which Thierry Henry expressed frustration with a number of different aspects
of Major League Soccer, including travel and the continued presence of Field Turf in several
markets. I can sympathize with Henry on both points.
Joel Lindpere is in form. With the 5-0 win over Toronto FC, the New York Red Bulls reaffirmed the
belief that they have the potential to be an MLS Superclub. In recent weeks, MLS fans have seen New
York drop points in draws that they should have won.
The Red Bulls have encountered many speed bumps this season, the most recent of which were the
losses of personnel to the Gold Cup.

The New York Red Bulls have endured their share of problems in recent weeks, from injuries, Gold
Cup absences and goalkeeping blunders, but one constant positive for the team has been the play of
Joel Lindpere.
The Estonian midfielder showed once again why he's fast becoming the most important player on
the Red Bulls roster by scoring two goals in New York's 2-2 tie vs.
Two goals from Marta helped Brazil beat Norway and move the Brazilians into the quarter-finals
of the Women's World Cup.
Norway now face Australia in the final group match with the winner joining Brazil in the last
eight. The South Americans need just a point from their final outing against Equatorial Guinea to
guarantee top spot.
Celtic fan Collette McCallum introduced the Celtic anthem to the Matildas side in 2007 and when the
team plays like this Australians can finally say as the song says - we don't care if we win lose or
draw.
Because the Matildas are playing the best football ever seen by a women's Australian side.
Heurelho Gomes' future at Spurs was brought into sharp focus at the end of last season with a
number of high profile errors including blunders against Real Madrid and Chelsea highlighting the
liability that the Brazilian can be at times.
After Brad Friedel arrived at Spurs last month, it seemed that Gomes may be on his way back to
PSV Einhoven despite still attracting public support from Harry Redknapp who said that he now had
three great keepers at the club.
Well the USMNT made it. They're officially going to the Quarterfinals of the Gold Cup despite,
what I thought, was a pretty lackluster performance against Guadeloupe. While Jozy Altidore's
golazo was amazing and worthy of recognition in its own right, the rest of the game's blunders will
continue to be the talking points heading into the next game against Jamaica, a game that I'm not
confident the current US squad can win.
As a final ode to the season I thought I'd look at two aspects of what's been and what's to
come. The first part is a look back on how the players have done, a sort of rating for the season
as a whole. The second part which will follow at a later date will be my view on what I hope
happens in the summer and what I think will happen, probably two very different things.

Finally the fateful day has arrived - Survival Sunday. Come this evening we'll all know who will
be joining poor old Scott Parker's West Ham in The Championship and who will be staying up to enjoy
another season of fun and frolics in the Premier League.
A very even game turned on some very unusual Rapids goals last night. The first half was almost
uneventful, with only one shot on goal combined, but there was one major incident with long-term
ramifications for Colorado. Late in the half Cummings was battling with a Dynamo defender to run
onto the ball.
A team's success always able to change the mood of players including Liverpool's main keeper,
Pepe Reina, as the goalie who was previously being heavily linked with a move to Manchester United
has now pledged his future with The Reds.
Reina even denied that he ever has any intention of joining the Red Devils, insisting that he is
happy at Anfield and believes that his team are heading in the right direction with their new
owner.

This ad isn't a real one, but it may as well be given the U.
Imagine this:
It's our next home game. The interlull is over at last and we're playing Blackburn Rovers in the
latest ‘must win' game.
As the players emerge onto the pitch, the crowd at The Grove gives voice as one. It's a
visceral, emotional outpouring of passion, enough to make the hairs on the back of even Gladstone
Small's neck stand up.
Any questions about who the best team in Major League Soccer were put to rest by Real Salt Lake,
which didn't seem fazed by missing several of its top players.
RSL put on a clinic on Saturday night, dismantling the Los Angeles Galaxy, 4-1, on Saturday
night at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Matchday 30 was pivotal for the scudetto, relegation spots, and the Champions' League positions.
One hero has fallen, another has been revived, and one team is as good as gone. And yes, it's
Bari.
1. Serie A is as tight as ever. 10 games played, 21 goals scored. No team won
by more than two goals.
It is going to be a long year. The rebuild of Toronto FC, the Coach Winter era may have better days
ahead, but things look mighty shaky at the start. Today Vancouver Whitecaps opened their first MLS
season with a home victory over TFC, 4-2. Dero and Maicon Santos scored the Toronto goals, each a
fine effort, but only the Dero goal arrived when the result was still in doubt.

PHOENIX, Ariz.
On Tuesday, the Union announced that Brad Knighton, the presumptive second string goalkeeper
behind new signing Faryd Mondragon, had been waived.
The announcement was met with shock in some quarters. After all, that leaves the Union with, at
present, only two keepers: Mondragon and first round SuperDraft pick Zac MacMath.
