A decade ago, tempestuous teenager Jay Bothroyd was told by Arsenal's head of

the surly young striker hurled his shirt at coach Don Howe upon being substituted

In freezing conditions, and with fresh snow falling before kick-off, this fixture was almost
called off. But credit to Bristol City's groundstaff, who did a terrific job in turning out a
playable pitch.
Credit too to the players, who worked their socks off in very difficult conditions Cardiff did
just enough to leave Ashton Gate with the win, but Gavin Williams' injury-time equaliser forced a
replay that no one could deny the home side earned; ironically, Williams is a lifelong Bluebirds
fan.
Leon Best has been speaking of his elation about sealing a deadline day move to Newcastle United.
The 23 year old could be set to make his debut against Cardiff City on Friday night, and many fans
willl be hoping for an instant impact against an in-form and free scoring Bluebirds team. It's a

After the 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers last Saturday Gordon Strachan will be looking to grab
another victory to take into the Newcastle United game next week. Cardiff City are having a good
season and currently sit in the last Play-Off position with 49 points ahead of the likes of
Blackpool, ourselves and Sheffield United.
I didn't have enough space in the headline to put 'great goalkeeping and poor refereeing deny
Boro' so I just left it with praise for the opposition's stopper, plus I don't want to make people
think that Boro were hard-done-by on Saturday and that Cardiff City and the officials played very
well.

The 2010 Football League Awards take place on Sunday 14th March and all this week in the build-up
to the prestigious ceremony we will be focusing on those in contention to receive awards on the
night.
Cardiff City and Southend United were both given a stay of execution recently by the High
Court in their bids to stave off winding up petitions brought against them. Mark Murphy takes a
look at what they have been up to since then and doesn't find much cause for
encouragement.
Well, reports are emerging of a fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie.
Bluebirds scrap it out among themselves Cardiff duo David Marshall and Anthony Gerrard can thank
themselves very fortunate that referee Chris Foy was in patient mood as they had a spat during
their draw against Nottingham Forest yesterday. The scrap erupted out of nothing after the pair
both attempted to deal with a cross.
The dénouement to Cardiff City's 2008-9 season was a shocker. A 6-0 defeat at Preston defied
belief and the Bluebirds lost 1-0 at Sheffield Wednesday to agonisingly miss out on a play off
place. The capital city club have been deserving a decent shot at promotion for some time now and
the nervousness on display in their slightly fortunate home draw with Reading on Saturday is

David Moyes appears to be leading the chase to snap up Cardiff City's contract rebel Joe Ledley
this summer. Everton are set to beat off interest for the 23 year old Welsh international and will
stand to sign the attacking midfielder for a fee as low as £5m when a tribunal meets to decide on
the players value.

The Mike Keen Memorial Game - Pre and Post-Match- "On This Day" in Football
- Playoffs Not at Wembley Next Season?
It's been a long two weeks since the last league game against York, but the FA Trophy Final is
finally upon us. Stevenage travel the short distance to Wembley for the third time in four years to
face Barrow. The National Stadium has been like Boro's second home since it was re-opened in 2007
and after previous wins there against Kidderminster and York, the Hertfordshire side are aiming to
make it 3 out of 3 tomorrow afternoon.
Well, we didn't get the full panoply of last-game drama. Relegation is done and dusted, the four
Champions League places are settled, and it seems quite likely that John Terry will be lifting the
trophy at about 1pm ET Sunday afternoon.
But Chelsea still needs a result against a hot-and-cold Wigan side.
The Bluebirds drew first blood in this Championship Play-Off at The Walkers Stadium with Cardiff
City once again celebrating a Peter Whittingham goal, his 24th of the season.

Fulham Boss Hodgson Wants Europa League Final Postponed
With the Icelandic volancano rearing its ashy head over the weekend Eurpean air travelers are
once again experiencing serious delays and restrictions. Fulam skipper Roy Hodgson has asked UEFA
to postpone their Europa League final in Hamburg against Athletico Madrid on Wednesday unless the
situation improves.
It's been a big week for football news, and at this stage of the season it's always news that
matters. The focus for many has been the announcement of 32 preliminary squads for World Cup 2010
and the noteworthy absentees which stole the headlines for a number of countries.
In this week's podcast, we're joined in the studio by the football editor of ITV.
I watched the second leg Championship playoff match between Leicester City and Cardiff City. I'm
friends with two Leicester City supporters, so I felt their pain. Penalty kicks are always a rough
way to end your season, but what happened in Cardiff on Wednesday was especially brutal.
With PKs tied 3-3, Yann Kermorgant stepped up for Leicester and tried to chip the ball past the
Bluebirds keeper.
On the day Inter won the top European title, 45 years after its last win, the Tangerines were
creating their bit of history at Wembley as they beat Cardiff, 3-2 with all the goals scored in the
first half. Their Championship playoff win ensured passage into the Premiership as they finally
return to the top echelon after 39 years.

Celtic are close to signing Cardiff City midfielder Joe Ledley.
The 23-year-old has been in Glasgow for talks and was shown around the club's Lennoxtown training
complex on Monday.
PETALING JAYA: The FA of Malaysia (FAM) have confirmed a date with English Championship side
Cardiff City for a friendly match against the national team on July 17.
The FAM competitions committee chairman, Datuk Che Mat Jusoh, said that they had revised the
Super League fixtures, bringing forward the matches scheduled for July 17 to July 6, to accommodate
the visitors for a pre-season warm-up match.
If the rumors are right, Welsh striker Craig Bellamy could be set to leave Manchester City this
summer. The Citizens have a wealth of strikers on their books and could add even more before the
summer is done, and The Guardian is reporting that Bellamy is now available for
purchase.
Earlier in the summer Bellamy was linked with a move to Championship side Cardiff City.
Cardiff boss Dave Jones has told reporters of his dilemma as the new season approaches as his
club tries to find a way to deal with their recent transfer embargo. Jones faces an uphill battle
as his squad seeks a repeat of last season's success, but without the ability to add new players to
their squad it looks highly unlikely.

Gordon Strachan will have cash to splash once the sale of Brad Jones goes through this week. The
Australian goalkeeper had a medical at the Premier League club yesterday indicating that personal
terms have been agreed. According to reports in the weekend press the £2million-plus transfer fee
from his sale is already in place to be used to try and land Cardiff City midfielder Peter
Whittingham.
Motherwell would like to know how Man City striker jumped queue Cardiff City have been threatened
with court action and a possible winding-up order by Scottish side Motherwell over an unpaid
transfer fee. Well claim the Bluebirds owe £175,000 from Paul Quinn's move south last year. So
they were understandably disgruntled when they found out the Welsh [.
Cardiff City have pulled off arguably the biggest transfer coup of the summer, signing
Manchester City outcast Craig Bellamy on a season-long loan deal.
After falling out with manager Roberto Mancini and the club in the last couple of weeks, it was
a formality that the well-traveled attacker would be on the move again.
With a talent the likes of Craig Bellamy supposedly prepared to switch to Championship side
Cardiff, have his options been cut short by the powers that be at Eastlands?
The controversial Welshman was on many a Premier League shopping list but it is believed that a
move to a top side has been cut off due to their rival status.

THE demand for Craig Bellamy shirts was so high in Cardiff City's club shop that they ran out of
the letter Y, forcing some desperate fans to make do with 'BELLAM' shirts. And here's the
proof:

Wolves mananger Mick McCarthy has revealed that Irish striker Andy Keogh is to join Cardiff
City.
McCarthy left the Dublin born reland international out of his side's 2-1 Carling Cup win over
Southend on Tuesday so the player is not cup-tied.
"It's a racing certainty that Andy will be going to Cardiff," said McCarthy.
Cardiff City manager Dave Jones believes Jay Bothroyd is worth a "look at" for an England
international call-up, after the striker's superb performance in the latest Severnside derby
against Bristol City.
Cardiff, who currently lie second in the Championship, were two goals down within nine minutes
against rock-bottom side Bristol, but made a magnificent comeback with both Bothroyd and Peter
Whittingham (2) scoring to give the Bluebirds a 3-2 win.

What a rousing win for Cardiff, their biggest ever at Elland Road in fact. Jay Bothroyd scored
twice, but it was Craig Bellamy who caught the eye. The Welsh forward hasn't only added quality to
the Bluebirds, he's also raised the confidence levels of every one of his team-mates.
Craig Bellamy exchanges shirts at Elland Road, and incites a mini riot in the process.
Few players in the English (and Welsh) game are as divisive as Craig Bellamy. One of my favorite
players anywhere, Bellamy plays with a fire and verve that always produces goals while pissing off
the opposition.

Swansea's sterling 1-0 victory at Cardiff was, despite Robbie Savage's best efforts in the

England surprise pick responds well to criticism The undoubted big surprise in Fabio Capello's
