the first half.
With MLS having very closed finances, and Forbes only doing a report on the 2007 revenue
streams, judging financial impact is rather difficult. The sole set of numbers that can be looked
at are attendance. Those that think the DP has an impact might be surprised, as the Beckham effect
was big, but everything else is tiny.
Fake Sigi has a new post detailing his own theories about why Canadians want MLS' single-entity to
be loosened. For a guy (or gal) who writes fairly frequently about paranoid conspiracy theories,
Sig's post sounded...a little paranoid.
First of all, Fake Sigi points out the USA has a bigger talent pool (in part from a markedly better
development scheme, but also in part because of a 10-1 difference in population):
The reality is that the USA has developed a deep enough talent pool to be able to stock
a rapidly expanding MLS even when a number of high quality players are plying their trade
overseas.
Some very good games this evening including the Laker's at Nixa, in a game between a pair of
up-and-coming teams hoping to breakthrough to new levels. Jeff City Jays, a team hoping to get to
State this year, visits Lebanon who stayed close with Kickapoo last week (0-1). Bolivar vs Willard,
a definite derby game.

In 2009, Seattle Sounders FC became the first MLS team to have an average attendance higher than
the same city's baseball franchise. Led by a rabid fanbase that snatched up season tickets at a
record rate, the Sounders drew an average of 30,897 fans to Qwest Field last season, compared to
the Seattle Mariners' average of 27,102, a gap that will likely widen further in 2010.

The South Stand just seemed different on Saturday
In its best days... oh sometime back in 2007, you could barely hear yourself think at BMO Field.
The songs, the chants, hilarious off-colour comments... even "The Dichio Song" was loud, proud and
fun. Then something happened. That of course would be 2008, 2009 and 2010 - as presented by
ML$E.

Creighton's Seth Sinovic was an MLS combine invitee not once but twice. The
savvy left back with projectable offensive skills trained for the 2009 MLS Combine but was granted
an additional year of eligibility just prior to leaving for the event in Fort Lauderdale,
Florida.

Toronto is not known for its successful sports teams these days. The Maple Leafs, the Raptors,
