U.S. Under-23 defender Andrew Wenger, who was called in once again to the U-23s this month for
training in Carson, Calif., is also taking home some collegiate hardware on the side.
The junior out of Duke won the Hermann Trophy on Friday, an honor that is given to the top NCAA
Division I soccer players.
I'd say this makes Nicolas Anelka's move to the People's Republic pretty damn official, eh?
Sweet robot
Read more about the deal via the Shenhua official website.
The club says Anelka has agreed to a two-year deal with the Blue Devils. Rumor is he'll be on
something like £200-plus thousand per week over there ridiculous, but an impressive pull.

The quest for college soccer's top individual award has been narrowed to three competitors.
Duke's Andrew Wenger, North Carolina's Billy Schuler and Creighton's Ethan Finlay were named
finalists for the Hermann Trophy, emerging from a list of 15 semifinalists that was released
earlier in the week.

CHICAGO -- The third time was the charm for Eclipse Select Soccer Club alumna and Stanford junior
defender Rachel Quon (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest). Quon and the Stanford defense posted its 18th
shutout of the season, none bigger than Sunday's 1-0 win over Duke to win the NCAA Women's College
Cup in Kennesaw, Ga.

Teresa Noyola scored from point-blank range Sunday to help top-ranked Stanford beat No. 3 Duke
1-0 and give the Cardinal their first NCAA women's soccer title after three consecutive attempts.
It was the perfect finish to Stanford's unbeaten season.
Stanford seniors Noyola, Camille Levin, Kristy Zuhmehlen and Lindsay Taylor finished their
college careers with a record of 95-4-4.
After pounding ACC tournament champion Florida State 3-0 on Friday night in the first
semifinal of the College Cup, Stanford has a chance to play once again for the national title.
The Cardinal advanced to soccer's version of the Final Four by completing its third straight
unbeaten season, a feat that parallels the great University of North Carolina teams with Mia Hamm
in the early 1990s.

CHICAGO - It is guaranteed that a former Eclipse Select Soccer Club player and a Lake Forest, Ill.,
native will win Sunday's NCAA Women's College Cup.

The NCAA Women's College Cup, taking place this weekend at Kennesaw State Stadium in Kennesaw
will be the first NCAA soccer championship held in Georgia since 1968. And one thing is for
certain there will be a first-time national champion crowned at this year's NCAA final.
All four College Cup teams were seeded first in their respective brackets, and include three
ACC schools—Wake Forest, Duke and Florida State—and two-time NCAA runner-up Stanford, making
its fourth consecutive College Cup appearance.

CHICAGO -- Eclipse Select Soccer Club alumna and Duke junior midfielder Nicole Lipp (Lake Forest,
Ill./Lake Forest) assisted both of her team's goals as the Blue Devils defeated Ohio State, 2-1, on
Sunday to advance to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
Duke had to overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit, and Lipp stepped up in the 54th minute as she took a
free kick from the right side and found the feet of freshman Kelly Cobb to tie the score at 1-1.

One round down in the NCAA Tournament and most of the heavy hitters relegated to the first round
are still alive, with one notable exception.
2009 champions Virginia were shocked 1-0 at home by Colonial Athletic Champions Delaware in an
overtime upset.
The conference tournaments are done and most teams have finished their seasons, but a select few
now move on to the NCAA Tournament to take a shot at a national title. The bracket was announced
this afternoon and it comes as no surprise that multiple Sounders Academy players will be on the
field when the tournament kicks off this week.

I know I've been slacking on my college coverage as of late. But have no fear, my SuperDraft
items will really start to kick up in the coming weeks with the start of the NCAA tournament next
week.

As the ACC Tournament gets into full swing tonight at campus sites up and down the East Coast,
all signs point to a rematch of last year's final between top-seeded North Carolina and No. 2
Maryland.
That's not to say other schools won't make a push as they look to secure postseason berths.
Though the 2011 season for the senior team has come to a close, we're here to remind you that if
you're a Sounder at heart, the season never truly ends. Our first graduated class of Academy
players is making their mark as Freshmen across the college soccer landscape.
It's been a couple of weeks since the last update and the college season is winding down to the
last few matches before conference tournaments and then the NCAA tournament culminating in the
College Cup hosted in Hoover, Alabama.

This weekend's game of the week in college soccer could quite possible be the game of the year
as two title contenders clash in Chapel Hill.
Newly minted No. 1 Maryland and No. 5 North Carolina have been the two leading contenders in the
chase for the ACC title and Friday's clash (5:30 p.
Most teams begin their transition into conference play this week and the alma maters of the
Sounders Academy players are doing well overall.

After a 2010 that saw the top spot change only once, the number one seed seems to be a cursed
position this time around.
No. 1 North Carolina followed up a win over former top seed Louisville with a double overtime
loss against unranked Virginia Tech.
Duke couldn't have started its ACC Conference showdown with Virginia any worse, and also
couldn't have finished it any worse.
Virginia saw a second-minute goal from midfielder Brian Span open the scoring and give the
Cavaliers the only lead it would need. Duke fought bravely in the second half, and outplayed the
visiting Cavs in the second 45 minutes, but wasted chances doomed Duke to a 1-0 loss.

The college soccer season may only be a few weeks old but some highly-rated programs are already
failing to live up to lofty expectations.
No. 12 Duke slumped to a couple of home losses over the weekend to No. 8 UCSB and No. 9 SMU. The
Blue Devils are 1-3-0 without having even started ACC play.

The college season may still be in its infant stages but that doesn't mean there are no marquee
matches to watch.
No. 1-ranked Louisville will aim to stay perfect in its quest for a national title, but it will
have two tough road games against ranked opponents in a span of three days.
At least three boys teams in the Madison area will have new coaches next fall, including two in
the Southern Badger Conference.

Plier did the same following nine years at conference rival Monona Grove.

Cole Grossman is ready to move on.
After four up-and-down years at Duke, the senior midfielder has set his sights on the MLS and
the challenges that lie therein.
"It's an incredible learning opportunity," Grossman said.
