As the wintry January chill sets in, the transfer window is also upon us. And with clubs needing
to dig deeper to find hidden gems with big clubs largely inactive, Midlands rivals Aston Villa and

By Chris Wright

Charlie Adam has handed in a formal transfer request at Bloomfield Road, in a bid to push through a
£5 million move to Liverpool.
More when we have it.

A great deal of confidence was undoubtedly restored at Stamford Bridge and our slide toward
oblivion apparently halted. At least for a while. Tonight, with Sunderland coming to Villa Park,
we'll see whether there's enough fire burning in this team to launch an ascent back up the
table.
The CEO's backed the manager, the assistant manager has backed the team, now it's up to the
players to show that they really do care.

Their dominance of English football over the last 15/20 years means they'll always be
title contenders. Can they steal Chelsea's crown of champions this year?...
Is this what we will be seeing in May?.. I think so
After the last gameweek, it looks like it will definitely be the case.

Liverpool head to Bloomfield Road looking for away win number two.
Fortuitous that the whole undersoil heating debacle pushed this one back, yes?
Doesn't make tomorrow's task any easier, of course, but at least there's a bit of optimism and
feel-good factor for Liverpool heading into yet another away match.
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is wanted by Premier League newcomers Blackpool who want the
Welshman on loan for the rest of the season, it has been revealed.
Ramsey, 20, has only recently returned from a loan spell at Nottingham Forest where he was sent
by Arsène Wenger to complete his recovery from the broken leg he suffered against Stoke City in
February of last year.

Yesterday's performance at Bloomfield Road certainly left something to be desired, as match
reports have taken the time to rightly point out, but one thing that bears repeating as people
begin to pull their hair over another loss on the road, casting about for scapegoats, is that these
are early days with Kenny Dalglish in charge.
The latest chapter in the ongoing terrifying saga of humiliation and mediocrity for Liverpool
football club unfolded last night in front of a jubilant crowd at Bloomfield Road. The Seasiders
– enjoying the first taste of top flight football in their history – completed an improbable
double over their North Western counterparts to pile further misery on Kenny Dalglish and his
beleaguered side, winning 2 – 1 in front of their home fans.
Liverpool's miserable night at Blackpool ended with a cold shower!
The Reds trooped off the pitch following their shock defeat to discover the Bloomfield Road boiler
had broken down.
So, after the indignity of being beaten by the Tangerines for a second time this season, they faced
a freezing shower before heading home.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has backed director of football strategy Damien Comolli and labelled
the Frenchman a "fantastic help".
Principal owner John Henry flies in for this weekend's 215th Merseyside derby with a number of
issues to address.
He will meet Dalglish for the first time in his official capacity as manager for a second spell
after taking over from Roy Hodgson less than a week ago.
As you approach the seaside resort town of Blackpool from the south along the coast road from
Lytham St Annes, one of the major attractions that people travel to from all over the country,
immediately comes into view. It's an extravagant amusement park, similar to Great America, called
The Pleasure Beach.
Liverpool recently sacked Roy Hodgson after an underwhelming campaign and brought in former boss
and club legend Kenny Dalglish to take the reins on a temporary basis. But the Scot is yet to taste
victory in his second stint at the helm.
His first game in charge was against Manchester United in the FA Cup, which ended in a 1-0 defeat
to his side.
Whatever optimism may have been brought about amongst the red half of Liverpool by the
appointment of Kenny Dalglish and Liverpool's performance at Old Trafford last weekend, the fervour
quietened just a little during the week at Bloomfield Road, when a performance as insipid as
anything seen under Roy Hodgson saw them capitulate to Blackpool for the second time this
season.
Considering they have only won at Anfield twice in 19 Premier League visits and three times in over
25 years Everton would probably be the happier of the two teams following Sunday's 2-2 draw.
But looking at the game the lack of form, confidence and in some cases quality is there for all to
see across both sides.
Martin Kelly is enjoying the steep ‘learning curve' of his rapid rise to Liverpool's first team
under Kenny Dalglish.
The 20-year-old has been the Scot's choice at right-back in his three games in charge of the
club.
And the Whiston-born defender is relishing the challenge of being thrown in at the Premiership deep
end.
As the January transfer window continues to unfold, a move away from Bloomfield Road
for Charlie Adam looks increasingly likely I wish it wasn't...
Although Adam may be destined for greater things, no offence Blackpool, it seems apt that the
play-maker should see out the season first.

After producing one of their best results of the season, Manchester United will attempt to
translate that momentum into a much-needed away win as they take on Blackpool at Bloomfield Road
tonight.
On Saturday, United dominated from start to finish in a 5-0 demolition of Birmingham City, with
Dimitar Berbatov leading the way with his third hat trick of the season.
Can Blackpool achieve the greatest shock of the 2010-2011 season by defeating Manchester United
today at Bloomfield Road? On paper it seems practically impossible. But in reality, anything is
possible especially for a club such as Blackpool which have become the media darlings of the
blogosphere and have attracted tons of devotees in the United States and abroad.
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will once again have a chance to break his goal scoring
duck as he finds himself in Sir Alex Ferguson's starting eleven for today's match against
Blackpool.
Rooney will be partnering the in form Dimitar Berbatov up top, with a midfield four of Nani,
Darren Fletcher, Paul Scholes, and Darron Gibson.
Manchester United came from two goals down against Blackpool
at Bloomfield Road to take a five point lead at the top of the EPL.
A shock was on the cards as Blackpool took a 2-0 half-time lead with goals from Cathcart and
Campbell, however the turning point in the game was the substitution of England striker Wayne
Rooney for Javier Hernandez in the 66th minute, within eight minutes of his arrival United were
back on level terms before Berbatov got his second of the game to give a relieved United all three
points.
Manchester United showed exactly why they're on target to win another title – they simply refuse
to get beaten even when they are comprehensively outplayed away from home by a good Blackpool side
and...

The best thing about National Holidays falling midweek, is that they make the whole week seem
really short. And allows one to stay up and watch midweek games well into the wee hours of the
morning without worries of being late for anything. Thank you, Constitution of India.
What a match. We were suddenly back to the United of old: the careless start then attacking
flair and literal bloody mindedness to win at any cost. There would always be blood, sweat and
tears at Bloomfield Road, just as there was at Burnley last year. I feared that before the match
and especially when we went a goal down early on.
Following yesterday's sensational match between Manchester United and Blackpool, Sir Alex
Ferguson was quick to praise Liverpool transfer target Charlie Adam. The Blackpool captain was
behind both of his side's first half goals against the Red Devils at Bloomfield Road as his corner
kicks proved too much for the United defense.
Blackpool 2-3 Manchester United: Analysis and Observations
If there's a better game to sum up Manchester United's season, tell me now. A game of literally
two differing halves, the first perhaps giving an indication of United's troubles on the road,
starting unconvincingly and the second, well, United's tendency to cranck it up a notch whenever
required, coming back from what seemed a perilous position and play like worthy champions.
