There is no doubt the disruption caused by the recent snow and freezing weather has had a
negative impact on everyone within the world of football. Games are being postponed; players are
forced to train indoors; fans lucky enough to get to watch their team, do so shivering on the
terraces; and managers watch their foreign stars ponder a return to warmer climes.

The Blackpool vs Liverpool game on Boxing Day ( December 26, 2010) was cancelled/postponed after a
late pitch inspection at Bloomfield Road. Blackpool vs Liverpool was a supposed 3pm kick off but
Bloomfield Road, which does not have under soil heating, did not pass the muster for the game due
to frozen pitch conditions.

Tomorrow's match between Blackpool and Manchester United at Bloomfield Road has been called off
due to weather concerns. Temperatures overnight fell to below eight degrees Celsius, and the recent
cold streak that has hit England has threatened to call off a number of matches.
Rio Ferdinand revealed on his official Twitter: "Blackpool game tomorrow called off due to the
frozen pitch.

The adverse reactions to Thursday's decisions by FIFA haven't lost any steam a day later, with
the chief of England's 2018 bid strongly speaking out against the world's governing body of
soccer.
Andy Anson expressed his opinions of FIFA's decision-making process, calling for reform in the
aftermath of England's first-round elimination in Thursday's vote during a press conference on
Friday.
LONDON, England — Manchester United's bid to maintain their position on the top of the Premier
League with victory at Blackpool on Saturday has been scuppered by the freezing temperatures in
England. United are two points clear of second placed Chelsea but they may lose first place after
their game was postponed as a result [.
Didier Drogba has given Chelsea a 1-0 halftime lead over Everton, despite some strong defending
from the Toffees at Stamford Bridge. Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin played well for the first 45
minutes, but a lackadaisical Phil Neville back pass left Tim Howard stranded against the onrushing
Nicolas Anelka.

difficulties.
Blackpool have said that their Boxing Day fixture against Liverpool is in jeopardy from the
weather. Blackpool, the only Premier League club that does not have undersoil heating, have already
had two home games postponed this season and with a still frozen pitch, that number is likely to
increase to three.
Blackpool have confirmed that their match against Manchester United, scheduled for tomorrow
evening, has now been called off. Bloomfield Road doesn't have undersoil heating which means the
overnight temperature has left the pitch frozen.
This is unacceptable for several reasons:
1. Fans who have pre-paid tickets will lose their money and when the game is re-arranged, likely
for midweek, some fans may not longer be able to attend.
Just as Manchester United reclaimed pole position in the Premier League for the first time in nine
months, they look likely to be forced into playing catch up football once again after their...

Rising Ireland international Seamus Coleman has been named Everton's player of the month for
November.
The Donegal born player had a memorable month as he cemented his position both as a regular in
David Moyes' first-team plans and as a fans' favourite.
The highlight for the 22-year-old was surely in the opening game of Everton's schedule as he scored
his first Premier League goal for the Blues at Blackpool.
HRH The Chief Scout Blackpool striker Luke Varney has received an unlikely royal seal of approval
after receiving kind words from Prince William in a letter sent to the club. The future king penned
the letter to the Seasiders after visiting Bloomfield Road to watch their win over Wolves last
month. And his thank you [.

Clear your Sunday morning schedules because Chelsea-United is one you need to watch live! From
the 4 live 10 am matches, Fox picked Arsenal for the Channel, and Newcastle for Plus, while the
Blackburn & Wigan matches are appropriately delayed to the afternoon.
It's been an interesting season so far. Chelsea went on their worst run of form for a decade,
United have drawn almost as many as they've won and Liverpool were flirting with the relegation
zone until Halloween. What's interested me the most is the mentality of some owners who really
don't know what they're talking about.
I don't know what to make of Wigan Athletic, they're something of a Jekyll and Hyde team. I've
all the time in the world for Roberto Martinez, he definitely knows his potatoes, but results and
performances frequently betray the fact that he's the youngest manager in the league.
Watching Wigan at home this season, the first thing that will strike the casual observer is the
number of empty seats in the DW Stadium; they're the worst supported team in the league.

Big game on Sunday, huge game in fact. Absolutely massive. Well maybe not quite that big but
being at the sharp end of the table this season has meant all our games have been important and
this one's no different. It's the one the travelling army have been waiting for so they can tick
Bloomfield Road off their grounds visited list, but it also has the potential to be one of this
seasons best games.
So, we popped our collective noggins out of the window on Friday morning, braving the b*stard
chill of winter against our delicate features, and asked the nearest little street urchin to tell
us the news. You boy, what day is this? Why, it's the day of the Champions League draw, sir.
And you've drawn AC Milan.
Blackpool's home tie with Liverpool scheduled for Boxing Day is already in danger of being
postponed because of the adverse weather conditions.
The Premier League calendar was decimated at the weekend following the big freeze which has swept
across the country, with Liverpool's clash with Fulham and Blackpool's game against Tottenham
falling victim.
Roy Hodgson has confirmed Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger are fit to face Blackpool on Boxing
Day.
Gerrard has been sidelined in recent weeks by a hamstring injury sustained on international duty
with England last month, while a calf problem has kept Agger out of action since September 25.
However, the pair are set to return to action for the trip to Bloomfield Road.

Blackpool will hold a pitch inspection three hours before their scheduled 3pm kick-off against
Liverpool on Boxing Day to see if the match can go ahead.
The Seasiders do not have undersoil heating at Bloomfield Road and despite covering the pitch there
is still some doubt over whether the surface will be playable.
Blackpool are looking to do a league double over Liverpool this season, and if they are successful
it will be the first time they have achieved such a feat since 1947. Holloway's men beat Liverpool
2-1 at Anfield in October with Charlie Adam and Luke Varney getting themselves on the score sheet
to seal a momentous victory.
As predicted earlier this week, the Blackpool v Liverpool game has been postponed because of a
frozen Bloomfield Road pitch, which does not have undersoil heating. The match has already been
rescheduled for January 12, with an 8pm kick-off.
Also, the Everton v Birmingham City game at Goodison Park has also been postponed because the
freezing temperatures have left the stadium in an unfit condition for the match.
Tremendous. Another week, another cancellation. Blackpool's pitch is frozen. Happy Holidays. It's
an absolute sin that the Premier League doesn't require undersoil heating, and this is the third
game at Bloomfield Road postponed so far this season. At least Everton v Birmingham's also been
pushed back so Liverpool's isn't the only game not taking place.
From the official site:
Blackpool have confirmed that today's game at Bloomfield Road has been called off due to a
frozen pitch.
The match will now be played on Wednesday, 12th January at 8pm with tickets for the original
date still valid.
Any Liverpool supporter who is unable to travel on the new date should return their ticket to
Liverpool FC by close of business on Thursday, 6th January for a refund.
The war which prompted its formation may have been won but Spirit of Shankly continues to fight the
good fight for Liverpool supporters.
That was underlined on Christmas Eve when the supporters' union urged the club to ask Blackpool to
bring forward the time of the scheduled noon pitch inspection for yesterday's doomed clash at
Bloomfield Road.
