Depending on which levels of football you follow, you may not have noticed that we're in the
middle of play-off season. The Championship Play-Offs begin tomorrow as Nottingham Forest travel to
Bloomfield Road, and the make up of the League One and Two Play-Offs this season will be decided
tomorrow afternoon.
Jimmy Armfield has tipped Everton's Seamus Coleman for a bright future in the game.
Killybegs born Coleman has pushed himself into regular first team contention at Goodison Park,
scoring his first goal for the Club in the Carling Cup tie at Brentford last week and earning a
first Premier League start at Fulham on Saturday.
There is no doubt the disruption caused by the recent snow and freezing weather has had a
negative impact on everyone within the world of football. Games are being postponed; players are
forced to train indoors; fans lucky enough to get to watch their team, do so shivering on the
terraces; and managers watch their foreign stars ponder a return to warmer climes.
Poor pitch conditions... but likely not this bad.Tangerines to hold late inspection - Yahoo!
EurosportBlackpool will hold a pitch inspection three hours before their scheduled 3pm kick-off

The Blackpool vs Liverpool game on Boxing Day ( December 26, 2010) was cancelled/postponed after a
late pitch inspection at Bloomfield Road. Blackpool vs Liverpool was a supposed 3pm kick off but
Bloomfield Road, which does not have under soil heating, did not pass the muster for the game due
to frozen pitch conditions.
So Saturday will see which one of two former top flight clubs return to the top level of English
football with the Championship Play-Off final. As neither have troubled the top division in quite a
long time, newer fans to Premiership football may be left scratching their heads as to who either
of these sides are.
England play their last game at Wembley before leaving for the World Cup Finals against a
Mexican side that most of us will next see playing the hosts in the opening game of the
tournament.
This will be the first time we've played ‘El Tri' since 2001 (a 4-0 win at Pride Park in Derby
if my memory isn't playing tricks on me) and the Mexicans don't have a good record in England:
we've won all four games played here and they have yet to score.
United States midfielder Michael Bradley appears to be on the verge of joining Premier League
new boys Blackpool FC. The Tangerines, who will open their campaign away to Wigan, will be
looking forward to completing the transfer for a low fee. In case the Bundesliga outfit provide a
higher-than-expected valuation for the unsettled player, Daily Mail reports that
Blackpool will seek to bring Bradley to Bloomfield Road on loan.
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway insists that his squad is ready for the upcoming Premier League
season, despite finishing well below fellow promoted clubs Newcastle United and West Bromwich
Albion. Holloway stressed the importance of hard work for his side, and acknowledged that it won't
be an easy ride in England's top flight.
Ever since Blackpool won promotion in that pulsating Championship Play-Off Final back in May,
things have been a little quiet in the North West. Even Ian Holloway, the manager who is known and
loved for his bizarre and occasionally weird post match comments has been a little shy. There is no
doubt that everyone involved in the club is so excited for the new season regardless of the sniping
of footballs elite.

As we come out of the international break teams are prepapring to go back to the day job, with
Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal holding the top four places in the EPL. And
this weekend all four of them face lower league opposition and would expect to take three points to
perpetuate the status quo However, things just haven't gone to plan so far this season.

The Emirates is the starting point for our results round up this week, where a controversy that
has been brewing for weeks finally came to a head. It was only a matter of time before the issue
that has been confounding media and players alike exploded on the pitch and while it wasn't pretty,
we all feel a sense of relief and hope that Saturday's events were the last word on the matter.
As someone who has played the beautiful game for many years in a blue shirt with the No.8 on the
back, I can honestly say that I have never torn my adductor muscle, much less figured out if I am
in possession of one. In fact, the closest I have come to injuring my groin involves a hostel roof
top, a spontaneous, yet accurate reproduction of Jay-Z's Girls Girls Girls, an attempt to pee off
said roof top and a particularly angry bird which I do no injustice in describing as my a wood
pecker.
It was misery on Merseyside for Liverpool, the vulnerability of a two-goal advantage was twice
exploited as Manchester United and Wigan Athletic dropped two points apiece, Manchester City moved
closer to leaders Chelsea while Arsenal overcame their recent wobble but had Jack Wilhsere sent
off. Bottom-of-the-table West Ham Unitedcan count themselves unfortunate not to have come away from
Molineux with all three points.
Charlie Adam: Not Old At All
Blackpool's Charlie Adam (CM) looks old. He plays like an experienced
footballer who not only reads the game well, but comprehensively links his side's defense with its
attack. In a word, Charlie Adam is a revelation. A true box-to-box
play-maker.
Liverpool are rumoured to be lining up a January move for Blackpool star Charlie Adam. Roy Hodgson
has reportedly been scouting the former Rangers man this season and after the 24 year old put in a
great performance to help his side to a famous win at Anfield the chances of a bid from the
Merseyside club have significantly increased.
Expect goose bumps when Newcastle United do battle with Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby at St
James' Park.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa play out the Second City derby against Birmingham, Blackburn Rovers welcome
champions Chelsea to Ewood Park and Arsenal host bottom-of-the-table West Ham United.
The early season is over now. The clocks have gone back, which means that there will be precious
few matches that finish in daylight between now and next spring, and in commemoration of this fact
the Premier League rolled out the luminous yellow ball last weekend. There is something deeply
aesthetically unsatisfying about the yellow ball.
A full programme of top-flight fixtures this weekend starts with Tottenham Hotspur's trip to Bolton
Wanderers before Liverpool host Chelsea in a potentially explosive meeting on Sunday.
Manchester United welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Old Trafford in one of six 3pm kick-offs on
Saturday.
Wonga have got in touch to offer a RoM reader who is going to Blackpool away the opportunity to
take part in the half-time fun. The club is looking for a brave red to take on a Blackpool
supporter in the half-time Wonga Cash Dash, when the teams meet at Bloomfield Road on Saturday 4th
December.
The Cash Dash is a race in two giant zorb balls, across the Bloomfield turf, between one home
and one away supporter.
Arsenal capitulated in the North London derby, champions Chelsea lost again while Manchester City
scored goals against former manager Mark Hughes. In light of Arsenal and Chelsea's slip-ups,
Manchester United took advantage to go level on points with the latter at the summit. The Red
Devils overcame Wigan Athletic 2-0 at Old Trafford albeit in unconvincing style.
I really can't see anything but a Spurs win today. Fair enough, we may be without Rafa (Harry rates
his chances of playing 50/50), but against Bremen, the side showed that he wasn't missed at all.
You could make the argument that the Champions League differs from the Premier League and that
Werder Bremen made the tie an easy one, but the facts show that we have come a long way.
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway admits to be awaiting the visit of Manchester United on Saturday
with a degree of trepidation after having watched the demolition of Blackburn Rovers last weekend
but...

Tomorrow's match between Blackpool and Manchester United at Bloomfield Road has been called off
due to weather concerns. Temperatures overnight fell to below eight degrees Celsius, and the recent
cold streak that has hit England has threatened to call off a number of matches.
Rio Ferdinand revealed on his official Twitter: "Blackpool game tomorrow called off due to the
frozen pitch.

The adverse reactions to Thursday's decisions by FIFA haven't lost any steam a day later, with
the chief of England's 2018 bid strongly speaking out against the world's governing body of
soccer.
Andy Anson expressed his opinions of FIFA's decision-making process, calling for reform in the
aftermath of England's first-round elimination in Thursday's vote during a press conference on
Friday.
LONDON, England — Manchester United's bid to maintain their position on the top of the Premier
League with victory at Blackpool on Saturday has been scuppered by the freezing temperatures in
England. United are two points clear of second placed Chelsea but they may lose first place after
their game was postponed as a result [.

Didier Drogba has given Chelsea a 1-0 halftime lead over Everton, despite some strong defending
from the Toffees at Stamford Bridge. Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin played well for the first 45
minutes, but a lackadaisical Phil Neville back pass left Tim Howard stranded against the onrushing
Nicolas Anelka.
Fleetwood Town 1 Newport County 1 - Football Conference NationalFleetwood is a town within the Wyre district of Lancashire, lying at the northwest corner of the
Fylde. For most of the 20th century, Fleetwood was a prominent deep-sea fishing port, but, since
the 1970s, the fishing industry has declined precipitously and the town has undergone economic
difficulties.
Blackpool have said that their Boxing Day fixture against Liverpool is in jeopardy from the
weather. Blackpool, the only Premier League club that does not have undersoil heating, have already
had two home games postponed this season and with a still frozen pitch, that number is likely to
increase to three.

Gordon Strachan spoke to the local press yesterday ahead of the big game at the City Ground this
afternoon saying that he and the team are desperate to gain promotion this season.
That eagerness and want for football's top tier of football will be assessed against a very
solid Nottingham Forest side today and after a midweek defeat to Blackpool Strachan will be hoping
his side will bounce back and start another unbeaten run in the Championship.

Newcastle will have see their first action after promotion was made certain on Monday, when they
take on Blackpool at home tomorrow afternoon. And Blackpool was the very first team to beat the
Magpies this so successful season, when they deservedly won 2-1 at Bloomfield Road last September,
and we expect another hard-fought game tomorrow afternoon.
Ireland u21 international Seamus Coleman's promotion hopes remain on track after his
Blackpool side squeezed into the Championship play-offs on Sunday.
The side managed by Ian Holloway endured a nervous afternoon against Bristol City and could only
muster a 1-1 draw. Brett Ormerod headed an equaliser after Nicky Maynard gave the visitors the lead
with a spectacular 25-yard dipping volley in front of 12,296 fans, the biggest crowd at Bloomfield
Road for 30 years.
From up on the north-western coast of England has come one of the surprise stories of the
season. Very few people would have anticipated Blackpool surging into the Championship play-off
places this season, but Ian Holloway's team have managed it while other clubs with bigger ambitions
such as Middlesbrough and Ipswich Town have struggled.
