Blackpool's accession to the Premier League was, on the surface, one of the feel-good stories of
2010. A club with a tight wage budget had broken up from the bottom division of the Football League
and reclaimed a place in the top division that it had last held almost forty years previously. The
team itself battled hard in the Premier League once there, winning a league double against
Liverpool and beating Tottenham Hotspur at Bloomfield Road before succumbing to relegation by a
single point on the final day of the season.

West Ham hauled themselves back to the top of the Championship last night with a resounding win
over Blackpool at Bloomfield Road, despite having to play for more than half-an-hour with
midfielder Henri Lansbury betwixt the sticks.
With West Ham already 2-1 up through James Tomkins and Nicky Maynard, Rob Green was dismissed in
the 53rd minute for chopping down Roman Bednar outside his area and, with no reserve 'keeper named,
Lansbury was left to take up the gloves for the rest of the match.

While the race for the Premier League title hots up, let's not forget there is plenty of
football being played outside the top 20 teams in England.
Here are seven stand-out players from the Championship, all of whom could be playing in the top
flight next season:
Albert Adomah
Despite making almost 200 league appearances for non league Harrow Borough and League Two side
Barnet, Adomah was a largely unknown quantity when he arrived at Bristol City in the summer of
2010.
Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks tasted Premier League football last season with the Tangerines and
now the shotstopper is looking for his side to make a swift return to the top flight.
The Seasiders sit just one point off the play-off places in the Championship table in seventh spot,
in what has once again been a very competitive league this term with any side capable of getting a
result in any game.
Jonjo Shelvey has spoken of his admiration for fellow central midfielder Jay Spearing and
commented: 'I look up to Jay'.
Liverpool's No.33 netted his first goal in a red shirt during the FA Cup 3rd round victory over
Oldham Athletic as he partnered Spearing at the heart of the Reds' midfield.

Blackpool have agreed a deal to sign Liverpool defender Danny Wilson on loan until the end of the
season.
Wilson has yet to make an impact at Anfield since his arrival from Rangers in 2010 and has made
just one appearance in the Carling Cup so far this season.
The Scotland international admitted earlier this season that he would be open to a loan move away
from Liverpool in search of regular first-team football and Reds boss Kenny Dalglish has now
decided to let him move on.

Please do your bit to help Gary Parkinson, one of this world's good guys
It has been more than 15 months since Gary Parkinson suffered a massive stroke that means the
only way he can communicate is by blinking his eyes. Parky was in charge of youth development at

Middlesbrough, Southend, Bolton, Burnley and Preston.

To get the biggest issue out of the way off the top, there's no actual news yet on the injury
Lucas picked up against Chelsea in the League Cup on Tuesday. There are, however, rumours. And, as
is the way with rumours of this sort, they're mostly terrible no good very bad ones we'd really
rather not give much credence to.

Road.

to the Barclays Premier League at the first time of asking.
Blackpool want to extend Liverpool starlet Jonjo Shelvey's loan spell at the club.
Shelvey sealed a loan move to Blackpool at the end of September and has impressed during his stay
at Bloomfield Road, scoring six goals in nine appearances.
He netted a stunning hat-trick in Blackpool's 5-0 demolition of Leeds at the start of the month and
Ian Holloway is eager to keep him at the club.

places at Anfield this season.

The former Portsmouth manager has been at the club a week and half and has already won as many
league games as manager than a certain former England manager did on Trentside.
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway says he is unlikely to be making an imminent move to sign Liverpool
defender Danny Wilson on loan.

Blackpool is lining up a loan move for Liverpool starlet Danny Wilson, according to the Blackpool
Gazette.
The 19-year-old Scotland international made eight appearances for the Reds last season and was high
on Ian Holloway's wish list in the summer, but a deal couldn't be struck.
The left-sided central defender had recently been set to join Nottingham Forest until the sacking

team-mate Jonjo Shelvey.
Jonjo Shelvey has thanks Liverpool teammate Charlie Adam for his advice after impressing on loan
debut for Blackpool.
The England youth international described his first appearance for the Tangerines as 'perfect'
after scoring from distance with a free kick in a 5-0 romp against Bristol City.
Ian Holloway has reportedly been tracking the teenager for some time, and Shelvey admits the
short-term move came about after conversations with Scottish international Adam, who was Blackpool
captain for their Npower Championship promotion and subsequent relegation last term.

the region of £9million, with the Championship club for the midfielder.
Scotland international Adam has been a long-term target for the Merseyside giants who tried and
failed to secure his services during the January transfer window.
Skysports.com understands Blackpool have placed a £9million price tag on midfield star Charlie
Adam.
Adam is one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League following Blackpool's relegation
to the Championship.
The Scotland international is thought to be keen on staying in the top flight and a number of clubs
are chasing his signature.
Charlie Adam's move to Liverpool appears close after Blackpool welcomed former Manchester United
midfielder Bojan Djordjic to the club, according to The Mirror.
The Scot's move to Liverpool has stalled in recent weeks after the clubs failed to agree a fee, but
Djordjic's arrival at Bloomfield Road, a player very much in Adam's mould, is the first sign that
Ian Holloway is prepared to sell.
