USA Today soccer guru and overall nice dude (despite being a dookie) Beau Dure has started a soccer
blog called the Netminder. If it's half as good as his pregame RFK dining room musings, it'll
surely become required reading.
It's located at behindthebadge.com. There is also a Spanish version. So, we likely don't need to
tell you that we'll be providing ridiculous access to the players, coaches and front office of the
most successful soccer team this country has ever seen. Allow us to share, however, that what you
see here is only the beginning [.
Wow, that was fun. The best tournament since World Cup 1998 and Euro 2000. When national teams'
football seemed to be on a downfall here came Euro 2008 and reistalled the love for international
tournaments. Great winner, great games, great emotions and great stories. And, of course, great
blogging on World Cup Blog page.
something's gone awry with the "show on front page" plugin.
This blog is now available at www.fightingtalker.com. Everything on the site will still look and
work the same but if you use a feed reader, you should probably just update it with my new feed
addresses. You may not even have to do that, depending on what feed reader you have. Update: Yahoo
is misbehaving with [.
The blogging doesn't stop after Euro 2008. Here on World Cup Blog we're going to follow World Cup
2010 qualification closely and we'd love to have as many teams covered as possible. And that means
we're looking for team bloggers to join our community. If there's a national team you want
Dear Raymond:
Can I call you Raymond? After almost two years of blogging about your team, I feel like we're
friends.
And I like you. Truly, I do. I want to say that first. I find you entertaining, and your sense
of humor sharp and dry (just like I like it), and your ability to deflect criticism from your
players and onto yourself second to none.
(Summary is not available.)
A big thanks to all Pies fans who voted for us in Soccerlens' football blog awards. We came out on
top in their Best Overall Blog category, which I guess is a bit like winning Best Film at the
Oscars,...
The Capital Weather Gang ("Bloods? crips? No, I ride with the C.W.G") at the Washington
Post have created a "Unitedcast" forecast for all home United matches. They can be
accessed here. It's a nice feature and right now they are iffy on whether Saturday's game will be
dry one.
Don't forget that you can win a free copy of John Foot's history of Italian soccer by clicking here
and taking part in Fighting Talker's little contest.
Congratulations to the gang over at the DCenters for three years of great service to all DC United
supporters.
This is a bit of an experiment. I installed a plugin called wordTube that will supposedly let me
insert my own media into my posts. Below is a short highlight segment of yesterday's Chelsea v Man
Utd game featuring that announcer I mentioned yesterday. [MEDIA=1] If it doesn't work for you,
leave a comment.
I've made some updates to the footie calendar. I added some functions that I had previously hidden,
and I added a Euro 2008 calendar (click your way forward to June). All Euro 2008 matches will air
live and in HD on ESPN, ESPN2, or ABC, so we're set for the month of June. While [...]

Google has added a feature to its Reader app that allows you to include notes with the items you
share. The notes aren't showing up on your shared page, though. The sharing thing is a cool idea.
gorjus is constantly hooking me up with some really nifty bootlegs. I wouldn't have [...]
Blog that is! For the second consecutive month, a Bohs fan blogger has been awarded Blog of the
Month in When Saturday Comes! This time the plaudits go to Steve D for his "A Gambling
Journey" which is hosted on the unofficial Bohs site bohs.ie. Bohs are currently top of the

Apologies for the lack of blogging since the end of the season. Regular blogging will be back to normal starting this week.
Here are a couple Atleti-centric photos from the friendly at Giants Stadium:

Maxi & fellow Albiceleste Mascherano in the 1st half.
A month ago i received a promotion at my place of work. Because of the promotion, my time has been
limited and my workload has increased. Therefore to keep this little piece of blogging heaven
current, i will be stepping down from my position here at the offside and allowing an aspiring
blogger to [.
A fond farewell to Euro 2008 then. An excellent tournament all round. And very sincere
congratulations to Spain, who were brilliant. But if you're looking for a further fix of football
blogging don't worry... we've got you covered. For club football, visit us at The Offside where
you'll find a front
EDITORS NOTE: We've bumped this to the top because the competition is now underway. Across the USA
16 teams of men will compete in a 94 year old American sporting tradition. Some will compete for
pride in the possibility of being the David that slays Goliath. Others will compete looking forward
to international glory.
It would have been nice to be there, but .....following the game on MLS Match Tracker and then
discovering that Larry Milson was live blogging on the Globe (until the 65th minute ????) was all
this fan could do.
Julius James scored the TFC goal in the game.
Jeff Cunningham missed his penalty kick, please make this guy toast.
With the explosion of interest in Fighting Talker, and my upcoming week-long vacation to Maine, I
have reached out to a good friend and fellow lapsed sportswriter join this fair blog. I am happy to
introduce Ed Morgans to the Fighting Talker fold. Morgans wrote for The Journal Newspapers, based
in Alexandria, VA, (and now The [.
What can you say about pre-season friendlies? Other than nothing, really. It's hard to interpret
them as anything. I remember reading someone's opinion on the German team's friendlies before the
Euro- if they'd won their game easily, that would be a cause for worry because it means they're not
working hard enough in training.
And the winners are... The Soccerlens Awards recognize excellence in football blogging. After the
great success of the 2007 edition, SL readers and editors gathered again to choose among 20
different awards categories and crown the best out of over a hundred quality football sites. Yes
people, YOU voted (over 16,000 times) for your favorite blogs.
I missed the game last night due to travel commitments. I'll have more on it later.
WordPress solved the issue I has having with moving my blog to www.fightingtalker.com. That, along
with the old .wordpress address both work. The only potential issue for readers is that folks with
old feed-readers may need to re-subscribe to the new feed. I haven't noticed any traffic drops from
syndicated hits since yesterday, so I suspect [.
I saw this over on Long Pauses. Here's how it works: 1) Pick up the nearest book. 2) Open to page
123. 3) Locate the fifth sentence. 4) Post the next three sentences on your blog and in so doing...
5) Tag five people, and acknowledge who tagged you. No-one tagged me per se, so I guess I'll
refrain from [.
By the way, I did an interview with du Nord today as part of a series on "distinctive voices
in soccer blogging," conducted by someone who is himself a distinctive voice in soccer
blogging, Zach Dundas of Eleven Devils. It contains probably the least dishonest account of what
I'm trying to do around here that [.
I'm going to have to split the news roundup into two parts. Today was a really long day at work and
I don't have time to do much blogging before bedtime. The other news will come tomorrow. The
biggest news from the weekend's matches has to be Panama's shock elimination at the hands of El
Salvador. After I completed the scoreboard updates of the second round, I stared for about 15
minutes at the El Salvador-Panama result, unable to believe what I had just witnessed.
*Sir Alex likes what he saw...
*Evra finds himself charged for Chelsea security brawl...
*Spurs angrily accuse Sir Alex of hypocrisy in their pursuit of Dimitar
Berbatov...
*Meanwhile, Sir Alex scoffs at the notion.
To celebrate the opening of the new Premier League season, bloggers Ian Cahir and myself will be
hosting a live blogging session online here at EPL Talk with you, the readers, from around the
world. We'll be sharing our thoughts about the games as they're played in real-time. Plus, you'll
be able to participate by: Submitting comments [.
Well, the intermittent blogging night begins. Andrea is at the match but unfortunately I am not.
Family matters came up and I had to take care of some stuff. Anyway, we'll try and blog on the
match as much as possible.
For now though a couple of interesting tidbits as none of the big three will be in action tonight.
I got a new phone a few days ago that has a few features I'm going to try out. The blog might be
uncharacteristically active over the next few days. I put a Twitter feed over in the right sidebar.
I am having a bit of trouble understanding the appeal of it, though.
