I've been reading all the information across the Internet referring to the USL vs NASL issues. I've
spoken with friends and fellow bloggers and we have all come up with some interesting ideas. Here
is my take on where this whole mess could be going. I'm going to divide it up into 3 scenarios.
Scenario #1 Stalemate
Lets say the USSF intervenes, rejects the NASL which to my eyes seems to be the most likely
outcome.
What can I say the local team here in Dallas is trying to actually market their club. Key word
in all of this is "trying". Their new "We Are Not Spectators" campaign is both sad and pathetic all
at the same time. Its an effort by the club however and that is at least a start in the right
direction even if this campaign is not.
Recently Jimmy Conrad wrote a piece at ESPN's Soccernet about his vision for MLS. He likens it
to Linux, but honestly, his ideas are not in the mold of Linux. Sure, he's willing to respond and
listen to feedback, but he is not necessarily advocating adopting an Open Source and/or Democratic
model for MLS, just for his own "blog" at Soccernet.
As i was looking at Arseblog today, the uber-blog for all Gooners, I couldn't help noticing that
one of our very own (very) small time bloggers was grimacing back at me. For whilst Arsene takes
the applause in front of the Clock End (it looks like the last game at Highbury, but not quite
sure) Another Arsenal Blog's very own "Obsinho" can be seen gurning back at us - he's far right in
the picture
Well, Arsenal goes down 1-0 to Olympiakos. For all the talk about how we might be disrespecting
the competition by fielding a team of players in their teens and early 20s, it sounds like they
went out there and put on a pretty good performance. Playing Olympiakos in Athens is never easy,
and a 1-0 loss is nothing to be ashamed of.
'Tis the season for soccer networks to be spreading good wishes to bloggers and business
contacts at this special time of the year. Last week we showed you what the Fox Soccer Channel
holiday card looked like. Now it's the turn of Setanta Sports (see above).
If and when we get a holiday card from GolTV and ESPN, we'll be sure to share those with you
too.
We're getting towards the end of 2009, so time to take a look back over our shoulders and bid the
year a fond farewell before we say hallo to 2010. Recently I asked the many and talented bloggers

So – after a four game period without a win – who are we to believe? Carlo Ancelotti, who
has been screaming ‘don't panic' at every opportunity since the Carling Cup elimination, or the
media (and some other Chelsea bloggers), who are claiming Chelsea are in the midst of some form of
meltdown?

I'm not all that surprised - we've always been at war with Asia, after all.
