I've been reading all the information across the Internet referring to the USL vs NASL issues. I've
spoken with friends and fellow bloggers and we have all come up with some interesting ideas. Here
is my take on where this whole mess could be going. I'm going to divide it up into 3 scenarios.
Scenario #1 Stalemate
Lets say the USSF intervenes, rejects the NASL which to my eyes seems to be the most likely
outcome.
It was ugly. How ugly? Try 5-0 ugly. While the final result may not have been an accurate
reflection of what transpired on the pitch, particularly in the first 50 minutes (as some bloggers
have argued) there can be no denying the U.S. performance was, on the whole, pathetic. But some
players performed better than others, as we shall see in the player ratings of U.
TELEVISION NETWORKS AGREE TO INCREASE AVAILABILITY OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE BROADCAST OF
USA-MEXICO MATCH
Several weeks ago I brought you news that a little known network called mun2, a English language
Hispanic based network, would be the only carrier of the US v Mexico World Cup qualifier on August
12, at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
25% of blog posts in Britain are fake.
These bloggers are paid by the inevitable middle people to include content that is linked to a
particular website.
We are inundated with such proposals, as they are seeking blogs that are trusted by their
readership.
Some of these operations are less shady than others but, with the worst examples, the blogger is
paid markedly extra for including positive content about the website with an embedded link in the
post.
These guys are recently been listed as most influential journalists and bloggers for football
news. Tweet-ing has its benefits! I share the following article from puntersrealm.
Since Twitter recently released a list function, we thought it was time to share our
list of who we follow as the most influential (mostly European) sports journalists and bloggers in
world sport.
A gnawing and suspicious paradox lies at the heart of African national team experiences in world
competition: African teams tend to do much better at the youth level than they do at the senior
level. Take the fact, for example, that African teams have won 5 of the 12 FIFA U17 World Cups
(with the 2009 version scheduled to be hosted by Nigeria in October and November), but not a single
African team has ever made it as far as the semi-finals of a full World Cup.
So we are just shy of being one-third of the way through the season and we're already at our
third (!) interlull. When we return, it will be crunch time with 11 matches in the next 42 days,
including Chelsea at home, Liverpool away, the final CL group stage fixtures, and, of course, City
away in the Carling Cup quarterfinals.
One of the main stories doing the rounds is a £30m bid; yes read it again a £30m bid for
Roma's central midfielder Daniele di Rossi.
Where did all this speculation come from? Well a couple of days ago an eagle eye blogger
www.gunners4life.com spotted that Daniele di Rossi was being shown as an Arsenal player on
Wikipedia.

There are a'plenty on the USA's roster for tonight's game in the nation's capital:
- Santino Quaranta plays for D.C. United and hails from Baltimore, Md.
- Kyle Martino is from up the BW Parkway in nearby Crofton, Md.
- Freddy Adu calls Potomac, Md., home when not in Europe and started his career at
United
- Clarence Goodson is from the other side of the Potomac River, born and raised in Alexandria,
Va.
Big Story
There's been an awful lot of questionable rhetoric already spat
out by the leading figures of both sides of the dispute between MLS and the players over their new
labour agreement, and finally we have a journalist with the patience and ability to parse through
it well: Kyle McCarthy has a must-read look at the claims made about MLS's compliance (or not) with
FIFA's regulations on player contracts.
We realize that power rankings are well-meaning efforts to bring some order to the chaos that is
Major League Soccer. As such they are certainly a commendable exercise for bloggers everywhere.
Unfortunately, they serve no real purpose.
MLS power rankings, which rank the league's clubs according to some individual metric (usually
the blogger's own) are everywhere.

Sexy Liverpool WAG!
Did you ever do that thing where you meet a girl (or guy, if you're one of my female or
nontraditional male readers), strike up a conversation, realize she's kind of into you, but then
for whatever reason, you decide not to make your move? And then, a couple months or years later,
you meet a guy who either is dating her or dated her for a while?
So in less than half an hour, Philadelphia is going to be putting in their list of players that
they are selecting in this year's expansion draft. With all the talk the last two days about it,
and reading everything that people are saying, it's been interesting. A lot of Philadelphia fans
are thinking that Kevin Hartman would be a great pick up for them, an immediate starter, which is
most definitely true.
So I've been talking with the other MLS Offside bloggers about making wagers when the Galaxy
plays their teams. Our traitor blogger Laurie at Seattle, and Dave at New York have already been at
it. Evidence of said wager here.
Now I need your help. What kinds of "punishments" would you like to see here at the Galaxy
Offside if I lose a wager?
Hay que recordarles que en los blogs de Digifut se establecieron normas para realizar

En éstos días se han violado las "pocas" normas que se tienen para comentar.
Final day of the group stages in the Confederations Cup. What are we doing to celebrate? A great
big jumbo liveblog. Both games, one liveblog, all your main-page bloggers in one spot. I think

Like a lot of other bloggers out there today, I'm tipping my hat to Santino Qauranta for the goal
against Honduras last night at RFK. To score your first international goal in front of your family
and home crowd after all the sh*t he's been through has to feel amazing. The only thing that would
make it better would be for him to have a vajeen so that the Lifetime Original movie "Pills, Tats
and Balls: The Santino Qauranta Story" could be greenlit by Monday.
We'll be going live shortly with a totally partisan liveblog of the US-Mexico Gold Cup final. (Our
Mexico bloggers Andrea and Al will be representing the Mexico side of things, and with USA bloggers
Brooks and Marlon busy today, I'll be attempting to hold up the flag for the US.) Be sure [...]
We received a pleasant surprise today when a Fedex package arrived from Fox Soccer Channel.
Inside was a box of promotional items to help promote Fox's coverage of the Champions League.
Presumably the box is being sent to journalists and bloggers across the country. It's a classy
touch from Fox, and just goes to show what a good job they're doing at promoting the Champions
League coverage across FSN, Fox Sports en Espanol, FX and Fox Soccer Channel.
Fire Fans,
We have two new bloggers for the site: Joe and I. We will be posting for the Fire. Please comment
and let us know what you want to see. Also feel free to agree or disagree. Lively conversation
would be a nice thing to see on the site.
For my first post, I will go over my first two visits to Toyota Park.

Michael Essien is blogging for Chelsea's official site, writing one post per month throughout
the season (combining the brevity of a blog with the untimely circulation of a magazine!). Even
though his new post is just his second effort, he's already tapped into an ability that few
bloggers can achieve.
Want to get up close and (incredibly) personal with your favorite footballer? Obvious question.
Sadly, we're not miracle workers; just ordinary, though fabulously well-heeled, bloggers.
So no, we may not be able to arrange a private meet and greet (yet) that will satisfy your
fantasies and allow you all to die as happy women, one potentially lucky fan(girl) has the chance
to unlock the secrets of Nicklas Bendtner's feet aroma/odour by placing a bid on his Nike
boots.

Big Story
Details are sketchy, but Brian Quarstad's Inside Minnesota Soccer reported on Saturday that USL
President Tim Holt sent an email to three USL-1 clubs in the Team Owner's Association
(TOA)—Minnesota, Carolina and Miami—terminating their player contracts, which was followed by
news from David Fellerath at Triangle Offense that the three club logos had been removed from the
USL-1 main site.
What can I say the local team here in Dallas is trying to actually market their club. Key word
in all of this is "trying". Their new "We Are Not Spectators" campaign is both sad and pathetic all
at the same time. Its an effort by the club however and that is at least a start in the right
direction even if this campaign is not.
Match Reports
ESPNSoccernet: Young Gunner's progress pleases Wenger
Telegraph.co.uk: Arsenal outplay Villarreal to reach last four date with Manchester United
Match Video
You could go to the Arsenalist.com or you could just go to the Telegraph, where they have
embedded an Arsenalist.
Quite a few talking points from this match Liverpool did not get the four points they needed,
WBA were relegated despite their numerous opportunities, and disquiet in the Liverpool back
line.
I can't remember the last time WBA took all three from Liverpool-partly because I wasn't born
yet, and partly because I would have made great efforts to block such shame from my memory.
Well hello there.
I see you've caught me in your bed. I told you I would be back. And I hope you don't mind, but
I've already undone my shirt and bow tie. It was a clip-on, but I still managed to untie it. I've
also undone my pants, and by the way you're covering your eyes I can tell you've already noticed
that.
Remarkably, it's less than a month until our first pre-season match, against Barnet on 18th
July.
It's gone fast partly because we've had the U21s, partly because of the Confounded Cup but
principally due to the fact that Wenger has made a statement of intent with an early summer
signing.
2-0 over Spain? Anyone who predicted that was under the influence. The USMNT have answered their
critics and shown a tremendous amount of heart in the last two matches.
It's an impressive victory for the USMNT and a potential huge step forward in the program's
development. Plenty of other bloggers will have plenty of things to say about this match and the
fallout from it, and given my general disinterest in international football, I leave it to them.

A merger of the two leagues, USL and MLS, does not appear to be anywhere on the horizons.
Trying to figure out which league is stronger remains a difficult chore. One of the only
barometers out there is the US Open Cup. USL had a tremendous night last night in the Cup, giving
MLS executives a lot to think about.
As most of you probably heard sometime between yesterday afternoon and this morning, there will
be no ESPN broadcast for the US-Mexico World Cup qualifier next month. Sad times I know.
Apparently the game in English will be shown on a channel most either have never heard of or
even have on their TVs.
