I generally don't like to give two photo posts back to back, but it's only Chris and me this week,
and he just Blackberry'd me to say that he had just watched a utility truck snip his cable and
drive away. Thank you, utility company, for leaving me the only Offside blogger with internet
access. So [.
Hey! I am a new blogger here at FCTP! My name is USvsIreland and I am a student who is a massive
fan of US Soccer. Hope you enjoy the first piece.
Looking Ahead to 2009: The Involvement of College Soccer Players
What went largely unnoticed in the furor of our Olympic exploits
(or lack thereof) is that the United States sent a Youth National Team to a tournament
without a single non-professional player.
Cobb Futbol Club have relaunched their website as CobbFC.net. The new site has a sleek new look -
but as any decent blogger worth his salt will tell you, you've got to have the content to back it
up.
A quick scan of the some the juicer areas tells me that they are on the right track with the
placeholders but still have quite a bit of work to do filling it up with quality content.
You know it works, I may add as the day goes... #1 - English outlets are now talking up young
Charles Renken-to-Arsenal academy. It should be quite fun to watch this young man's career unfold.
Infamous (trust me... he'll like that modifier) BigSoccer blogger Bill Archer talks about the fuss
and argues that he should forgo Euro-training to remain in the USSF Bradenton Residency program.
My co-blogger Chris hates (detests, despises, loathes, wants to take out in a dark alley) Sky
Sports and (recently) ESPN commentator Andy Gray. The final straw came in the Spain-Italy game on
ESPN, when Gray wished Spanish player Cesc Fabregas "good luck" before his penalty.
(Chris's comments: "Did he really just say [.
A couple of years ago, before I embarked on the whole soccer blogging adventure, I swapped emails
with another blogger on the topic of whether I'd be able to write regularly on a subject where I
felt, essentially, like a total impostor. His response? As for [feeling like] an impostor, I think
it's [.
Hey y'all. I was the guest blogger for The Red Card, the Chicago Tribune's soccer blog. It seems
that Luis is on holiday and in between interesting people like Leslie Osborne and Ben Olsen, he
decided to let me sully the good name of the venerable Windy City publication. Nice!
If you want to see what I have to say about blogging go here.
Hi again swedes. I'll be your captain blogger for the reminder of the euro. What do you guys think can we defeat the defending euro champions? I think with our good form we can surprise the greeks. here's the lineup for tomorrow's game
Squad list

Yes, we are liveblogging this game. Since I am a hardcore France fan and my co-blogger Chris is a
hardcore Italy fan, we decided to have this game liveblogged by a neutral -- Daryl, The Offside's
editor. So be sure to stop by this site and leave
- Would Jeff Cunningham be the cure for our goal scoring needs up top? Would he
be a good fit with Angel's game? If you are day dreaming, not so fast. Cunningham's baggage has
ruled him out of the Red Bulls plans, so says King Blogger Ives. A Cunningham signing, especially
in light of TFC's current scoring woes, would have been a grasp of desperation by the
organization.
As many of you know, today features the second leg of Champions League qualifying against those
pesky Dutch, FC Twente. Led by Steve McLaren, the legendary English coach, this should not be a big
deal, what with a 2-0 lead on aggregate from the first leg. However, it's always fun to play the
role of the glass half full blogger, so let's go there.
Okay, let's look at the bright side.
Um...
I know there's something...
Oh, got one! Actually, more than one!
1) Jérémy Toulalan gets better every game, and is looking more
attack-minded as well. He's becoming less wary about shooting from distance, which can knock
defenses off guard a good thing, as our offense can be extremely predictable.
Bundesliga Talk present their selection of this summer's best transfers in the Bundesliga -
ironically written by a former Bundesliga Offside blogger, who joined Bundesliga Talk on a free
transfer this summer. Damn you Bosman! (Bundesliga Talk) 101 Great Goals pick their favorite
Bundesliga signings as well.
Blogger-in-arms & fellow Designated Player Adam Spangler spent a mess of time in London at the tail
end of last season with Clint Dempsey. They were getting mobbed by school kids and rolling through
SW6 to a soundtrack straight out of Houston's 5th Ward. If only I was there, then it would have
been truly ridiculous.
By 1970's Gooner Now don't tell me that Fabregas is tired because he didn't have a pre season! His
performance at Bolton was outstanding. There are a lot of Arsenal fans who take everything that a
certain blogger, who once wrote a very average book about "the professor", dreams up as a
fact of life.
France blogger Laurie said after the match that, "France usually plays pretty while being unable to score. This was 90 minutes of ugly."
That's quite a good synopsis.
I'll add some of my post-game thoughts, most of which appeared a bit earlier on WickedDeflection.com.
I thought that Malouda, Anelka,
OnGoal has been the owner of our beloved Kansas City Wizards for two years now. There have been many wonderful things done since they took over ownership: new stadium plans, a temporary home, and they are showing some signs of support towards the group of fans who stand in the Cauldron.
Their stated goal is to grow the Cauldron through a grassroots campaign.
My stint as guest blogger is over as I am heading out of town to see family tomorrow. I
get back into town about July 10th so I'll poke my head in here then, if not sooner. Laurie
is almost finished with Euros and will be back doing the awesome job she does here.
I've loved being here with you all and filling in.
Damn, you know its easier to chant than spell but if you're a supporter or a fan, you know where
I'm coming from... I'm Robert Esposito, co-blogger of this fine site. I'm sure any of you that
followed Nicholas here will miss him so let's bid him a fond farwell and best wishes in his future
endeavors.
I would like to remain anonymous on the following if you choose to publish it.
This comes to us via email from an source wishing anonymity.
I was able to glean the following while sitting at a table behind to Merritt Paulson and some
‘other guy' at the Starbucks across from PGE Park earlier this week.
We're still looking for a new blogger to take the reigns from Mario here on Croatia World Cup Blog.

A month ago i received a promotion at my place of work. Because of the promotion, my time has been
limited and my workload has increased. Therefore to keep this little piece of blogging heaven
current, i will be stepping down from my position here at the offside and allowing an aspiring

The Weekender: Where else can the players from the AIS play?
Paul Mavroudis is a passionate South Melbourne fan and football blogger. and Paul is making the
journey to Canberra this weekend for his sides Sunday VPL clash with the AIS.
Paul writes the Weekender this week:On Saturday, I and 30 odd other South Melbourne fans will be
making the trip up to Canberra by bus.
Some of my posts are missing their accompanying photographs. It might be a problem with Google
Blogger or Picasa Web Albums. I'm not sure. Hopefully it will be resolved shortly. Thanks!

The Olympics took center stage this week, not just on the world stage, but also in our blogs... Our
Bremen blogger Brian looked at Diego's Olympic club vs country saga from all possible angles.
(Werder Offside) Replace Diego with Rafinha and then our new Schalke blogger Jon basically did what
Brian did.
Wrong. But these are the games that we must win to sustain a title challenge.
This wont be easy today. It's a London derby and Fulham will be right up for this. Arsenal will
need to focus completely and in all honesty every game from now to the end of the season should be
like a cup final for Arsenal.
It's easy to think of Arsenal as a cliche - fancy boys who sulk when the going gets tough. That's
also kind of true (that's team captain William Gallas having a sit-down protest on the halfway line
during the game against Birmingham last season).
But a bigger problem than stereotyped (they are mostly French, after all) character flaws is Arsene
Wenger.
So here are the fixtures for the weekend ahead. Note that Manchester United, by virtue of being
Champions League winners, play in the Super Cup against UEFA Cup winners Zenit St. Petersburg in
Monaco tonight. It should be added for readers that don't know that the Super Cup is about as
important as an NFL pre-season game.
I'll admit I'm a non-informed blogger on this post.
I was too busy watching the awesome USC v. Oregon State game last tonight to check out the Galaxy
v. Fire.
But L.A. gave up a bunch of goals and lost, I could've told you that long before kickoff.

The transfer window isn't officially open yet but that hasn't stopped Uk Footbal Finder from completing the first key transfer of the summer. We're pleased to announce the (loan) signing of Andrija Tadic from the leading Croatian football website become a croatiafan.
The quarter-finals of the European Championships start this evening with an intriguing match
between Portugal and Germany, but I wanted to move away from Euro 2008 and discuss something else
this evening. As some (or maybe more) of you may have noticed, this blog hasn't been doing itself
too many favours during Euro 2008.
An obscure note for locals here - according to DCRTV, the local high school quiz show, It's
Academic, has been renewed for its 49th season on WRC channel 4. Notable former competitors on the
show include, Charles Schumer, George Stephanopoulos, Michael Chabon, Donald Graham, and this very
blogger, who represented W.
The bloggers to take over what me and Sam built are here and they are not taking any prisoners.
They have already knocked down the door with endless enthusiasm, rearing to go... so i will take a
back seat to the new drivers of the best blog on the offside and just enjoy the ride. I am already
starting to like Robert, he has got spunk.
In my role as a blogger on a soccer website, I have striven to keep the great moral and social...
Apologies to SF over at The Offside Rules for the photo-caption-style-jack, but it was too easy to
pass up. I consider myself pretty level-headed for a blogger and message board poster, and I try to
keep things in perspective, for better or for worse. Allow me now to throw that all out the window,
as [.
Juventus Blogger's Corner esprime cordoglio per la prematura morte di Andrea Pininfarina, che

It was a game that encapsulated what the Championship is all about. Last season Derby were two
divisions above Doncaster but this season they are battling against each other. For the home team,
Derby, it was a chance to put relegation behind them and announce that they mean to go straight
back to the Premier League.
